My father had an older Range Rover for many years, initially it had significant gear box problems (fixed by the dealer) after that it had no problems, cons heavy on fuel, slight body roll, pros, very nice interior, excellent suspension, great off-road ability, great for towing, real high quality vehicle.

Hey great video. I’ve just purchased a 140k mileage vogue 4.4 tdv8, 61 plate, decent service history, looks as though all minor niggles were dealt with throughout its life, test drove today and was sold, did a thorough check for rust etc, seems like a good egg. Your video convinced me that high mileage isn’t everything ! Thanks and can’t wait to pick it up! All electrics work and interior in decent condition! Coming from a lively SLK55, it was a contrasting pleasure to be in a higher driving position and a really peaceful cabin!

Boot it above 2500rpm when warm and often, to clear out any oil build up in secondary turbo. I do it daily. Some suffer with a smoke screen out back if you don’t. There was a turbo drain mod but it’s very costly and involves drilling and tapping the sump. Safer and cheaper to boot it regularly 👍👍

Good review, looks like you have a nice clean example there. I actually have one of the early Mk 3 TD6's, a 2002 model (BMW engine) which I bought in Latvia about 12 years ago for 13,000 Euros (also about £10,000 at the time.) I only do about 5000 miles maximum per year, I only use it over there. Mine had a number of significant issues just about to make themselves known, and over the first six years of ownership I had a new gearbox, front air suspension (both sides,) fuel pump, injector, wiper motor, fuel pipe, steering angle sensor plus some items of interior trim and a partial respray, so probably not a bargain compared with yours but the choice over there is more limited. The 3.0 TD6 gets a lot of criticism for being underpowered but although if I bought another I'd go for the3.6 or 4.4 TDV8 , I haven't found it to be an issue; if you're content with driving within the legal speed limits, it 's fine although just a little extra grunt would be useful when overtaking in certain situations. I now seem to have reached a sweet spot where most of the major jobs that are likely to be needed have been done, so it's been easier on the pocket over the last 4 years and hopefully those issues are unlikely to recur for quite a while, with my low annual mileage. I drive across Europe twice a year (1200 miles each way) and spend time in the Alps, and can honestly say with winter tyres fitted November-April (Continental TS850 Winter Contact) it is amazing on snow and ice, you'd hardly know it. I keep chains in the back but I'm unlikely to need them now. The rest of the year I run it on All Season tyres.
@danscarchannel53679 ай бұрын
Thanks Justin yours sounds like you have done well with it too. It is a fact if you are prepared to spend time on money on these cars then you really do benefit from the fantastic value and versatility the Range Rover offers. As you say pointless to change it when you hit that sweet spot as that’s when you reap the benefits!!

Great video Dan! It really demonstrates the luxurious comfort of that lovely beast. I'm actually quite surprised that you have experienced no major hurdles with your RR. Reviews all over the internet claim that over 40% of recent land rovers punish their owners with problems ranging from engine to electric failure. Could they be wrong? Or is it the owners that don't treat the cars right? I'm thinking of gifting myself one for my birthday this year
@danscarchannel53672 жыл бұрын
Thank you Victor! Yes I think the secret is buy one with service history and fix any small thing as it crops up. They are great cars if looked after properly and I have no regrets buying mine. Hope you manage to get one and enjoy it as much as I do mine!!

Most folk that knock these cars have never owned one I have had a 2 door "still own it" I have had the 4 door classic and now have a L322 Not one of these cars has ever let me down Yes I have had niggles as you do with any older car but nothing seriouse Look after then and they will look after you These bad bad stories come from folk that buy poor cars in the first place this can happen if you buy any car 911 Merc BMW etc etc etc With R/Rovers some folk think you can just bash about in them not service them go off road etc etc and they will still run like a Morris 1000 they will not !!! There is not another car that will do what these do Just like the Aston Martin they have class that will never be taken away Toyota Land Cruiser Amazon probably the best car ever made but no class Not as comfy Just not the same experiance I know because I have had one and went back to R/Rover No I am not a snob they just give you a feeling no other car does !!!!!!!
@danscarchannel53672 жыл бұрын
Very true Allan I think most people assume they are troublesome but as you say if you buy with history and keep it maintained they are relatively cheap to run for what would have been an £80-£90k car new !!!

£10,000 for a 2011 ? Higher miles then. We sold a 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE in the summer for £21,000.
@danscarchannel53672 жыл бұрын
Yes I know low mileage examples go for a lot more Adam. Mine is the vogue not the vogue SE and had covered 109k with full Landrover service history when I bought it which was cheap as most I looked at with the same spec/mileage were 12k
@wilfy77442 жыл бұрын
@@danscarchannel5367 ours (61 plate) had 61,000 miles and 9 Land Rover main dealer stamps. Was still under Land Rover warranty actually. Had 4 newish Pirellis and 20 inch factory alloys (extra option.. a multi spoke design). Had TVs in the back of the headrests, remote heating, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise, cooled and heated seats, upgraded stereo, factory autobiography styling bumpers and body kit, black leather/white stitching, piano black trim, heated steering, Orkney grey paint. Had new wishbones and an aircon compressor. Gearbox flush done too. Can’t emphasise enough how the bovee is a game changer. I did out the link up for you but it’s disappeared !? I sort of miss it but in the end despite the luxury and presence and plus points, I didn’t enjoy driving it as much as I thought I would. The new owner loves it and has had zero problems and has done nearly 5000 miles in it in a few months.
