I just wanted to say thank you for all the videos. I'm deployed to Iraq right now and they help pass the down time around here. Some of them I watch over and over haha. Anyways thanks and I'm looking forward to the 1911 video you mentioned in this vid!

@SuAside83 , Well, you're right; I would have put the range there anyway; it's the best place. It just so happens that it was pretty clear already and I didn't have to remove any nice oaks, hickory, walnut tree, etc.

I got to tell you.... I think a lot of us would love to see you and John to do a video where you have a shoot out and let John show off some of his trigger skills. Maybe take your .45 ACPs and start with the close targets and work your way out to the gong and see who hits more. That would be awesome! Unless you're worried about him out shooting you and bruising your ego ;-)

people who don't feel that you were telling the truth about the distance probably shoot at indoor ranges and probably aren't used to gauging long distances. Great vid hickok45 and thanks for the tour !!!

A beautiful tour of a great range. I do appreciate everything that you both do to bring us these wonderful videos. Unless you've ever tried to produce / edit a nice lengthy video, it's hard to fully understand the labor and passion that's involved... You've got a great spread. I think it's every shooters dream and envy to have the land and ability to shoot on your own homestead. Very interesting to see it all come together in this video. Thanks for "shooting" this one for us. :-)

It would be so great to have the land to do what you do. It's a rip off when you have to pay to fire your weapon at a range in the city, almost $10.00 an hour per person where I live, not to mention the target cost and eye, ear protection if you dont have it. Rock on Hickok45.

very cool to see those entry holes and flattened slugs. I just assumed they would blast straight through but seeing as the drum holds a good few feet thick of water it seems natural in hindsight that a big fat slug wouldn't likely get far in it's flat state. You're fortunate to have such a handy camera man. Finding someone to work the camera at the right times has always been a bit difficult for me.

Water weighs 8.34 pounds per gallon and I know of at least two water tanks locally shot by deer rifles that caused a leak and the bullet was recovered inside the water tank. One nut in Caldwell Co we caught painting a target on the man way hatch for his 22. They all flattened out and we found the pile of cartridges with police. Water pushes out with height so the water stopped the slugs. An empty tank can warp with wind. Full tanks survive.

@survivor31971 , Definitely the water. I'm surprised sometimes, but I'd bet my Ed Brown that the slugs would go through three or four barrel if they are empty.

I wish I could have the acreage you have. I live on 6 acres (1 wide 6 long ) and am too close to civilization to create my own range. Even though I have the distance, my neighbors would complain about the noise. Anyway love your range, and your house looks very nice also. Nice walk :)

You ever have deer in your wood? At our shooting range every once in a while a deer will walk out. Around the range they are use to the gun shots.

You're probably tired of people suggesting videos...but here I go anyway... It's been a while since your last zombie shoot. Have ya considered doing one using a combination of smaller weapons like pistol, bow, and throwing knives? Afterall, a prepared zombie hunter should be multi-skilled. :-)

your so lucky. im so jelly! i live in indianapolis and its flat. infact im pretty sure somebody flated this land out its so flat. could never get a nice hilly peace of land hear to make a good shooting range.

Wow man!!!! That's not trashy, that's awsome!!...I have something about like you have as a lay-out for my little "backyard range", I just don't have as many a good targets as you do. They are a little too expensive for my budget, Father of 2 littlke girls and a husband and all on my salary. Any ideas as how to go about getting a little better targerts ythan just paper 1's????

I enjoy the range tours..I bought 30 acres in Montana, would love to get some steel up. My property is pretty flat though,Hickok what would you reccomend for how much dirt/railroad ties for a backstop for handguns/shotguns?
