Let's not kid ourselves : Rangers cut the Celtic Broomloan Road and allocation because their players felt intimidated, and as a result, issued a pathetic excuse about catering for their own home supporters blah blah. In time, Celtic responded in kind. Now we have Celtic/Rangers league fixtures lacking the atmosphere of old . At Hampden the other week we could all see and hear the difference. Time to open the gates once more to the away fans .

Of course its a crowd safety issue, Celtic fans and staff do not go to Ibrox to get hit on the head with bottles, it is up to Rangers to ensure away fans safety and they fail time and again, as usual if this was any other club the SFA and the Police would come down hard but its Rangers so it is acceptable.

The caller is right except for saying it had nothing to do with safety reasons. A Celtic physio was struck a bottle. Hart had bottles thrown into his box. A few Celtic fans were injured last time around at Ibrox with objects thrown and so it was a safety decision Celtic took but Rangers started this exclusion. The Rangers shareholders urged Dave King to restrict the Celtic fans to 700, not least knowing it gave them a better chance of winning their two home games against us and maximizing their chances of stopping ten. King wasn't thinking about the long term implications and the best derby match in world football becoming just like any other one sided loud atmosphere. I'm going with a Man City fan to the next one at Parkhead but what he'll sample will be nothing like what it should be! Both sets of fans competing with each other to win the noise battle. I'm a Rangers fan but not the 'Mark' on this call, I don't know why I got Born Celtic recommended to me, probably because as always when it comes to Celtic fans, it's actually about Rangers lol.... all joking aside I totally agree with Mark here, both clubs need to get a grip and let the away fans in, I have heard some of our fans actually saying don't let them back in, it's great that we can keep the Broomloan to ourselves and have the Union Bears there and for season ticket holders of the Broomloan it must have been shit losing your seat, luckily for me when I had my season ticket I was in the main stand and even though I would come in and look over to that full stand full of yees and feel absolute hate, it made for an amazing atmosphere. I was lucky enough to see us win a hell of a lot of Old Firms in that period, I went to my first game in 1991 as an 8 year old but wasn't allowed to go to the old firm games until I was a bit older so my first match was as a 14 year old in 1996 when we beat you's 2.0 at Ibrox, got my season ticket the following season and I didn't see us lose at home against you's until the 3.0 game in 2001. You's had been pish as well and hardly even had a shot until Moravcik scored and even when you were 1.0 up, I thought its cool we'll come back and win, we always do, but Lubo scored again and then Larsson scored. I can remember being fucking shell shocked but can also always mind the noise you's generated that day. Hated it at the time but it's what the derby is all about. I didn't get to an old firm game at Parkhead until 1999 when we drew 1 each at xmas time but at the next one in the March we won 1.0 when wee Rod the Prod scored with about 5mins to go and it is right up there with my best ever days at the football because it was at Parkhead. I didnt see many victories at your park to be honest over the years but the days away were always amazing. Do you want us back in or are you like some of the Broomloan road guys I mentioned and would prefer to keep us out forever?, personally I think it needs to go back to full allocation cos even the 700 was a joke

Why do the SFA even allow this to happen? In England, you must give 3,000 tickets to away fans, unless 3,000 is over 15% of the capacity, in which case you must give them that 15%. I don't think we can ever expect to see the volume of away fans that we used to, but there needs to be some degree of sense implemented, as this derby no longer has the feel of one. It's completely lost its magic, unless the two meet at Hampden. The SFA need to take the choice away from the clubs.

I do believe it’s the death of the fan, being at parkhead giving them dogs abuse. Rangers fans at ibrox giving Celtic dogs abuse. That’s a big big part of it. And without that. It’s not the same. Not being able to turn and give it to the away fans when your team scores or wins etc. just not the same.

As an armchair Celtic fan I've said for years that it was unfair for the Rangers fans at Parkhead to be tucked away in the corner out of sight of the T.V cameras. The away fans add to the atmosphere and the spectacle. One of the best sights in football is the Celtic fans celebrating a goal or a victory in the Broomloan Rd stand. Rangers fans should be behind the goal in the Lisbon Lions stand.

They've always had 53,000 season ticket holders. The 7,000 in the Lisbon lion where the Rangers supporters are housed can be given a cheaper price and first choice ballot for the remaining seats before general sale.
