Agreed… dude thinks he is doing a good work but his mind is twisted obviously… he doesn’t care if he has to hurt others to accomplish his goal in testing someone else. Also he never said that he was only testing people who hurt others or committed crimes… the only thing necessary for him to test someone is that that individual has to not be living in a way that shows appreciation for life in John’s opinion Now there are people like Joyce who seemed to be innocent but in John’s mind, he wouldn’t have been killing her, Bobby would be for not passing his test.

Also, Jigsaw is a villain who doesn’t want to get caught by police… which is why he would booby trap his lair or slit Tapp’s throat… Hoffman took a step further bc he was just killing people but make sense if you don’t wanna be captured

I think most people harp on that more because other people repeat his nonsense and never call him out on it in any way. Like in the first movie, one police officer's like "akshwally, he nevur kills da peepls" *tips fedora* iirc. If people just acknowledged that he's a rambling psychopath, people wouldn't meme on this since the movies themselves constantly act like his disciples are so impure and unworthy of his legacy and he was so "moral" when instead, people should've said way more "nah he's just an asshole". Haven't watched the movies in a long time but at least I don't remember that happening.

I agree. I think that just adds a bit of an extra layer to his character. It just adds more depth to him into figuring out how his mind truly works. Not only that but I find it a bit more boring if he was just pure good in a bad way, he's still a villain and still the antagonist. Not only that but he's never really been fair so I don't know where these guys are coming from, from SAW to SAW 3, there were many harsh and downright unfair traps such as the flammable jelly trap, the nerve gas house considering Xavier had a huge advantage in his strength, numerous traps in Saw 3 that barely gave a participant a chance to survive. Jigsaw would sometimes even laugh in some tapes such as the needle pit trap.

For me it's the needle pit from Saw 2. I used to be a heroin addict over 10 years ago. I've had honest to god nightmares about it. I also credit that trap for helping to keep me sober. When i first got sober i would think about that needle pit and it would make me get sick and not want to touch heroin or needles. I could feel hundreds of stings all over my skin. It still gives me chills. I appreciate Saw 2 on a more personal level.

I'll probably always be alone in this, but the Glass Coffin from V is in my favorites. Not because of the setup, or even the concept, but just because of how it was shot. 1) The forearm snapping, 2) That overhead shot of Strahm screaming when the courage finally leaves his body, 3) The blood getting completely juiced out of him through the open arm wound, 4) That last spasm when the walls flatten him. I dunno, it just does it for me. The "walls closing in" trope is old as the sea, but how often do you get an inside view of the gory climax? F-in brutal.

The reason why we like the Hoffman character is 1: the actor playing him just does a great job of giving him just the command presence in the movies. 2. BECAUSE he’s so resilient. 3. We want him to ultimately lose, but his rule breaking and his arch of not following Kramer’s vision Is the whole point. The reasons you don’t like the characters actually the whole point of the character, and the reason for his ultimate demise. I’m not trying to change your mind, because that’s pretty self righteous, just trying to get you to understand a little bit.

At least with the rack there's a possibility you get out unscathed, as long as the other people in the room work fast enough. The bone marrow trap can only end one way, there's no "shortcuts". The thing that really bugs me about most of the SAW traps, is even though you didn't put all of them in the breaking the rules section, the vast majority of them are either unwinnable, or feature a person who should not have been in a trap. Like the smoker was put in there just because he smokes, but he was destined to die from the beginning. People who were put in competition with each other had no chance to experience "the will to live" aspect, like the two people in the pound of flesh trap, because even though they both did what they needed to do, one person was always going to die no matter what. None of the people in the traps of saw 3, 6, or 7 had any chance to prove their own will to live, because it was all based on another person's actions. All of the traps in Spiral, no matter how cool, were unwinnable, with anatomy professors making videos on how even if you did what you needed, you would still die in all of them. Hell, even traps that were rigged in other ways like the opening trap to saw 3 had no chance of survival. Even if you took out the jaw ring and the door weld, the ones on his ankle would have left him unable to walk or stand, and would have lost enough blood for him to pass out almost immediately after detaching.
@youtube-kit9450
@youtube-kit9450 8 ай бұрын
In my opinion, the brazen bull trap would have been absolutely perfect with two simple changes - yes, his wife is there, and it's made clear she has been with him because of his fame. Second, there's a twist in that not his wife gets brazen bull'd, but he. The trap starts with him having to go into a circle on the ground and do his stuff, the trap happens, he fails, falls to the ground, says "I'm sorry", and boom, brazen bull closes around him. Jigsaw then says "In your fictional world, you were the survivor, but this is reality" or something and then something about liar liar pants on fire and seeing his legacy go up in flames. This way, imo you'd fix the fact that she was just completely and utterly innocent by punishing her for going after fame and not caring about the man behind it or whatever (not saying it's a strong motive, but since she only suffers by losing a husband she didn't actually care about and having the fame empire break apart she sought after, I think it's fine) and second, the guy who actually did the lying thing got punished, while in this version, he just... gets off completely scot-free while everyone else had to die? Like wtf? The first change mostly just exists cuz even if she survived with the second change, she'd still be a completely innocent person who got told her husband was just a liar and sees the person she genuinely loved just go up in flames. And this way, it would also be ok that the trap is just rigged to be unwinnable - dude should've made up a winnable trap.

Your idea with the bone marrow trap sounds like a good idea. The person goes all in with attempting to escape the trap, falls seconds short and just as the trap is about to kill em John just hits the Kill Switch and gives them the win. The moments of I'm going to die terror into it shutting down and the twist of John's mercy would be great. It'd pass off some gore hounds but hell

I don't want this to sound like trash talk, because I'm definitely a fan of you and your videos, but this is my favorite horror franchise and I was really excited to hear your various rankings and breakdowns, but honestly it feels like the things that weren't perfectly spelled out for you went right over your head and didn't just effect your opinion but led you to tearing certain things apart that didn't deserve it. For example, it seemed pretty obvious it was a trick making it seem like the couple were supposed to be in the final trap in Saw X, while the plan was actually Amanda and John would be the ones blood-boarded, during which the couple would still have found their way to the room, thus freeing Amanda and John from the trap, the only thing that didn't go to plan was the kid being involved. The comments on 3 and 4 were the more frustrating ones, it's clear you have issues with those films and while I can give you the whole "Rigg is going from building to building so why never get help?" A lot of your other complaints felt more like you just didn't get what they were going for, didn't remember them, or because it wasn't spelled out you didn't care enough to dig deeper or think more about it. Off the top of my head, the "Dr. Lynn being a top three innocent" for example. In Saw VII "Yeah, we got to see the cheating bitch die!" Dr. Lynn was cheating on her husband in three, and allowing her family life to fall apart because she too was struggling to deal with the loss of her son, just in a different way than her husband Jeff, which was his reason for being in the traps as well. There were a lot more, I just didn't want this comment to become a rant or even this long to be honest. I relate to you in a lot of ways, we're very close in age, Child's Play 2 was a childhood movie I watched on repeat which got me into horror, and finding your channel was very enjoyable because I immediately binged everything you had and have been watching ever since. We disagree here and there but our tastes seem very similar, so I still look forward to more videos, it just felt difficult to get through the Saw ones because it is my favorite and we disagree on a lot on this one

One of my pet peeves for the movie interpretations that I've seen from a lot of channels, not just here, is that in Jigsaw "oh it doesn't make any sense! Why would John change his mind?" He didn't. Sparing Logan for "a mistake" was not John changing his mind about Logan's mistake with the X rays, it was JOHN'S mistake. I thought it was obvious that Logan stayed asleep in the Bucket trap because JOHN made a mistake with the dose he used to drug everyone, given that it was an early trap and he didn't have any of his doctor apprentices assisting. And thus Logan didn't wake up in time to even have a chance at the trap. Don't get me wrong, I'm really not crazy about Jigsaw as a film, but the way people interpret that "mistake" line drives me bananas.

Likewise Rigg's test is weird because it's not really a test, it's a recruitment push. To me it reads as trying to get Rigg to understand the Jigsaw morality: that there are some people that deserve to be tested. Since Hoffman is the last (that he knew of) he was trying to recruit his own apprentice.

Agree 100%. While watching the video I lost count of the times I thought “Okay, Cody didn’t catch this so he’s tearing apart something that went over his head.” Which, not saying anything negative about Cody, I love the content and respect the differing opinions it just felt a little frustrating at times.

right? so many youtubers do this. so many review channels especially, yms does this all the time. any movie or anything in a movie that flies over their head, or even if it's something unrelatable in a movie they'll be like "this isn't realistic" just because they don't have experience with something. sometimes you think something is dumb in a movie but maybe you just should've thought of it for more than 2 seconds or ask for another perspective.

I personally don’t agree with people who call Addison dumb for putting both of her hands into the wrist trap. Sure, if she were fully conscious, but in this case the nerve gas is clearly screwing with her; she can barely walk when she comes into the room. Not to mention the level of anxiety and stress she’d be experiencing on top of that. We also don’t know if she was fully sober when she was put into the house (in the flashback where she comes up on John’s car in another movie, she seemed pretty intoxicated. She might experience substance abuse often.) I believe that if she had been presented with the trap at the start (with less stress, and less exposure to the gas), she would have done fine.

It's literally rigged, like how the hell are you supposed to beat a saw trap (which requires top perciverence, perception, and resilience) when your high. Like the pain tolerance barrier might be a little higher but John should've known its a bad idea to pump happy gas into a room fill of sharp objects and traps

so like a lot of other people i thought in the eye vacuum trap you could just turn the dial all the way and break all of your fingers at once, but i saw someone pose the scenario that it wouldn’t work that way. i saw a few people saying that maybe turning the dial to 5 would only break the 5th finger, which to me, makes a lot of sense. i still think it’s an incredibly easy trap but i don’t think it could be so easily done like a lot of people are saying

01:05:25 Idk, I've always loved the twist that Jill is the one who endures it. The visuals and the flashbacks showing us how she met John and they were a happy couple... It's like punishment for John himself who started this killing spree and hurt so many people (guilty or not, doesn't matter), and now it's all coming back full circle to the person he loved. It's a sad trap, but it's like the price John paid for the crimes he committed. Tragic story that led to tragic consequences and ended in a tragic way.

The man Amanda had to kill in her test, Donnie, was in fact her former cellmate (don't think about it too hard lol), drug dealer, and the guy who got her hooked on heroin to begin with, so, no, he wasn't some random guy. Her having to "cut him out" to survive was actually very symbolical

The waterboarding trap in saw X was actually intended by john that he was going to be in his trap - the only thing he didn't predict was that cecila was going to force a kid into the trap instead of amanda, which is why he was so easily able to free himself and the child. you can also tell because of the trap they end up in - in the gas room its clear that jigsaw predicted them to go into that room to try and get the money, leading cecila to kill her boyfriend.

@@CodyLeachYT Sure, but you can say that about a lot of people in Saw traps. Going by Jigsaw's mindset she was fair game though. Losing your child is tough, but that doesn't give a person the right to completely abandon the family they have left who are also just as sad as she was. Now that lady at the end of Saw 3D was completely innocent.

I think Amanda's original trap should've had her cut the key out of Cecil's stomach, not some random guy. Jigsaw would've gotten his vengeance on Cecil by making someone who was "good to him" take him out. Maybe Amanda would've remained rehabilitated since all their loose ends would've been tied.

Out of all the traps I think the horsepower trap is the best in my opinion. It’s my favorite just because it’s a trap for actually bad people but they actually use the car is a wicked way. The background music mixed with the car getting faster while jacked up is just a extra detailed touch. I will say I do agree with most of the spots where the traps belong. I thought it was implied that the woman in Jigsaw was suffering from some kind of post-partum mental illness and repressed the killing of her own child. This would explain why we SEE her husband smothering the baby - not just hear her explain. She genuinely believed that’s what happened. Did no one else interpret it this way?
