SSJ2 is my fav, so intense, and in a way, it's kind of like ssj1 just mastered to an extreme level. I love that all the fights in ssj2 in dbz had a level of intensity that just hit, and the aesthetics behind the characters all just look better than ssj1 imo

Beast Gohan is such a disappointment to me because besides the initial hype behind Gohan getting a new transformation, it fell short. Beast Gohan had such a poor introduction for what its supposed to mean for him. I really would have liked for his trigger to be more than just Piccolo getting beat up bad yet again, its nostalgia baiting, but not even the good kind. It could have been Piccolo proper being on the verge of death or Goten, Trunks, Krillin and the others getting really hurt too. And perhaps Gohan could have had a deep retrospective over his losses, his embarrassing performance against Frieza when he tried to invade earth showing that he can't be a reliable protector of earth, how someone always had to jump in to save him, how his friends being beaten up now parallels how he failed to protect them in the past... and what Android 16 told him before he died. Emotionally berate himself enough until he finally gets the memo that people have been trying to beat into him his entire life then boom! Beast Gohan. But instead, he just went Super Saiyan but again

It's actually a bit refreshing to see someone not choose Saiyan 1 as the best. I agree with the comments of Saiyan 1 being #1, but in the end of the day its your opinion.

I love how SSJ4 isn't just the direct boost from SSJ3 like how SSJ3 is the next level to SSJ2 and that to SSJ. To me SSJ3 is the penultimate SSJ form a typical saiyan can achieve, not including that weird thing Black did in Heroes. SSJ4 is a different branch entirely despite its name, its similar to Broly's Ikari form. Its the most saiyan ish type transformation and its design is cool. I also love how it expends less energy than SSJ3 does but is more powerful, showing Ki usage and Saiyan forms aren't just black and white.

DBS power ups make absolutely zero sense.

Its not nostalgia for ssj1 to be the best that long ass fight with Freiza that build up to the spirit bomb them thinking they defeated Frieza then the horror in their reactions to him not being dead and him killing Krillin to Gokus rage, its peak.

True UI deserves more love. Narratively it fits Goku perfectly. It shows that mastered UI can be taken even further. Not through increases in strength and speed or by copying someone else’s technique, but by utilizing and adapting it in a way that’s tailored to a Goku and Goku alone. Makes me excited to see where toyotaro takes Super after the latest chapter.

Mellavelli is the absolute GoaT when it comes to Saiyan forms. His Absalon series deserves its own show. With that being said, when it comes to dragonball transformations, I wish they took a different approach with them. For example, the whole "lore" on why Goku was so strong was because he injured his brain and took away is "evil rage" making him more gently and docile. He basically lost a part of himself that was integral to saiyans. It makes more sense for him to stray away from "Super Saiyan forms" and lean more towards god ki then angel power like UI. UI in itself is supposed to be only used by angels, so the fact that Goku can wield it just ads to the story. Goku should have went something like SSJ, SSJ2, SSJ3, SS God, SSJ Blue, SSJ Blue Evo, then however many versions of UI he needed to reach the end. Vegeta is a royal bloodline, the Prince of Saiyans. It would make sense that he would be able to reach saiyan forms that other regular saiyans couldnt. Makes a cool story. Let him advance the saiyan transformations: SSJ, SSJ2, SSJ3, Golden Ape, SSJ4, Perfected SSJ4 (ssj form while in ssj4), SSJ5, Perfected SSJ5, and who knows what other saiyan forms they could come up with. Maybe even use his arc with God/Angels with Goku to take on a SSJ5 destroyer form. Imagine a big bulked up SSJ4 with purple fur and super saiyan blonde hair. I think they nailed the Broly transformations however. Being a Legendary SSJ means you wont see another one like him for about 1000 years. All of his transformations need to be completely unique to him. I would have liked to see the full range of transformations go something like: Controlled Ōzaru, SSJ, Legendary SSJ, Legendary Controlled Ōzaru, SSJ4, and then his final form be perfected SSJ4 with green fur. I also think they missed an opportunity for the half-breed saiyans. You could have introduced different storylines where saiyans fathered children from other races. Then the children get some degree of both parents. For humans they could have played on the adrenaline when stressed. Maybe something like an instant regeneration like Piccolo mixed in with a saiyan, just imagine the zenkai boost from taking lethal blows for all other saiyans, only to regenerate & live through it.

For me, Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 is de best transformation in the whole franchise. To me, the introduction was so epic and its power in comparison to others was on a whole other level. But I agree with most of your list tho

Not sure if anyone is aware, but Super Saiyan Rose is supposed to be Super Saiyan Blue. And Beast Gohan IS supposed to be one of the MANY references in that movie to the Cell Saga.

SSJ 4 is officially canon since january 2024. Also Akira Toriyama always stated that GT was canon, even tho he himself was not part of it's creation. Dragonball Z was never supposed to have a Sequel but GT had the ending that Toriyama loved. I know lots of people do not like it but GT is canon, it plays after Super and this means Supersayan 4 is the strongest transformation. A long debate finally found it's closure.

Super Saiyan Rage above Blue is crazy bruh 😭

For me its the OG Super Sayian transformation as it felt like you were your own torch in your darkest hour and to come that later on, super sayian is something to be mastered, when Goku and Vegeta first transformed their hair looked fluffy and flowed with the wind, but despite its cool appearance it can be improved upon like grade 2 and grade 3, Grade 2 is focusing much more energy into the muscles, it drains energy faster but gives a decent boost, grade 3 does this too but does it too much where the user has significantly larger strength, but is too stiff and cumbersome making you slower and drain energy way faster, which is why Trunks was so tired when he was missing so many hits on Cell. Grade 4 is peak super sayain as they found a way to keep their energy inside and have their bodies adapt to the form basically becoming its natural state. Because the energy isnt being leaked by the aura, the transformation is alot stronger because no energy is being wasted. Vegeta even admitted to the genius method and even tho Vegeta will never admit it, he did master the form along with Trunks which is the only reason they can become super sayian 2. See this type of detail and plot advancement is why its my favorite, Super Sayian God became their base form a little too quickly and Super Sayian Blue is just... Super Sayian with blue hair, it doesnt have those little details.

I think with SSJ4 it should be a Broly only form if they ever make it canon. The entire concept of SSJ4 was controlling the great ape form. Broly wrath form is the same idea. So maybe they can make an arc where Broly learns to control his mindless anger (like they showed him kinda doing in DB superhero) then turning into SSJ4. They don’t even have to call it Super Saiyan 4, i just want the design again. This would also go with the idea of everyone getting their own form. Goku UI, Vegeta UE, Gohan Beast, Broly SSJ4 etc etc

Super Saiyan Blue Evolution isn't just an arc specific form. Sure, it was introduced in the anime's version of the TOP first, but it's in the manga's version of the TOP too. Vegeta also continues to use this form at various points throughout the Moro and Granolah arcs too.

Dude, UI and UE are not saiyan transformations. They're techniques anyone can learn them.

Here's my reason why I'd personally put Ultra Instinct sign in top 5. It was sprinkled throughout the entire series, good examples would be Goku in the 23rd world martial arts tournament, Goku vs Nappa, Goku vs Recoome, Jeice and Burter, and even foreshadowed in SSJ3 Goku vs Beerus. All of Goku's teachers have either indirectly or directly taught him the path of Ultra Instinct.

For me SSj1 and SSj2 are the most iconic transformations, because they were done right. Being in those do or die situations probably will be the way most anime that work around that sort of theme is used, because its going to work. Its kind of like booking for wrestling, because your building up to the right moment, before the transformation/power-up is unlocked. The Rose form...that could be Goku's next form from Blue...possibly if he were to master the Kaioken...according to a friend of mine.

Me personally i would have put Ultra Instinct Sign specifically slightly higher for a reason: it's aesthetic. In my opinion it fixes the biggest problem about the newer transformation: it needs a new hair color to look cool, or an overcomplicated design. The design of UI Sign is very simple, it's still Goku with black hair but with it's edges slightly risen up to make it look different enough from his base form, and those silver eyes that are actually more noticeable in Sign than in MUI (since pretty much everything in Goku is silver in MUI). It's introduction actually makes more sense in the manga, but the anime had WAY better climax and anticipation because everyone thought Goku had died for good.

Ssjss/ super saiyan blue being last is sad but true. Although aesthetically in the broly movie it looks 🔥.

I would put any of the UI transformations above top 10. I think the build up since Dragon Ball Z battle of gods till the ToP was amazing. Also I think the SSR should be higher on the list, since it defeated Zamasu, the aura and even the transformation looked nice but the buildup for the form wasnt bad. And the iconic SSJ should be number 1 on the list, the buildup to it was amazing. It its usage till the newest movie "Dragon Ball Super Hero" but also it was very amazing to see the introduction of the form from the start against freeza.

If there was anyway Super Saiyan 4 becomes canon, I would like to think it would be through Broly. Broly's innate power and potential makes me believe that he would harness the power, it would make much more sense for him to get it than Goku and Vegeta since the two have Ultra Instinct and Ego respectively, giving Broly SSJ Blue wouldn't be a good idea imo especially since it's been sidelined now that Goku and Vegeta have their Ultra forms and Gohan has Beast. Plus it's a well deserved power up considering Broly is probably gonna be apart of the main Saiyan group in future Dragon Ball Chapters/Episodes and since Broly is able to tap into his Great Ape power without transforming, SSJ4's way of transformation could work, just gotta figure out how it would work in the story without feeling like an asspull just to give him something other than Full Power SSJ. SSJ2 is my favorite transformation, next are SSJ3 and SSJ1... those are the best. New ones have weak plots before transformations. Fans were not prepared for this... SSJ2 and Gohan Rage is so great... and SSJ2 Vegito and from movie SSJ2 Gogeta... love it!!!! SSJ3 and Goku transformation after fight as SSJ2 with SSJ2 Vegeta is another great plot SSJ1 Goku vs Frezer... Those transformations looks as "natural progression" for me. First yellow hairs and aura with green eyes. Then another level are more pointy hairs and lightnings... And in the end SSJ3 as next lvl on steroids... great introduction and great fight in anime/movie. Other transformations are kinda "meh" for me...

Great video. I just have a qucik add-on about Jiren vs MUI. In manga it may be different. But in anime MUI was definitley stronger than Jiren. They even went out of their Way to animate how Jiren was shaking and Goku was completely still when they were pushing each other. So if speaking manga-wise maybe Jiren had more power but in Anime Goku was defo stronger.

I love SSJ and SSJ2 because the context and the meaning behind them. Also they're a natural progression. SSJ2 is just the og SSJ at its maximum expression.
