In 2011, people really don't really realise how great Eli was. In 2011 he passed for 4,933 yards, led the league with 4Q comebacks, and game-winning drives, with one of the worst defences that year, 25th in points allowed and 27th in yards allowed. He had a record-breaking year, and with all those problems, he somehow led his team to the Lombardi trophy!

Eli had an excellent 2011, and a few other solid years in that time. His career outside of his championships is probably going to look underwhelming compared to some Hall of Fame quarterbacks but he has a good career, and an excellent 2011. That said, if the team is said to be carried by a player or two, then it must’ve been pretty middling in its other components.

The 86 Giants at 21? You could make an argument, & don't start Bears fans, that their postseason defensive stats were more impressive than the Bears of the previous season. They outscored San Francisco & Washington by a score of 66-3. I repeat 66-3. They shut down and blew out the 49ers and shut out The Redskins. Then then held John Elway to 20 points. I would say that is more impressive than beating Dieter Brock & Tony Eason.

The mid 90’s Niners who won it all in 94, and had a 1995 team that had ten pro bowlers and seven all pros that could’ve repeated if Steve Young doesn’t get hurt were probably the last team of that generation. As a Giants fan I have to agree with our 2011 team being the worst Super Bowl champions, our defense was terrible (although they did admittedly play much better in the postseason) and we had the worst rushing attack in the NFL. Eli and our receivers did a good deal of the heavy lifting that season and the team got hot at the right time, although we were certainly lucky we avoided having to go to the Super Dome and play the Saints (a team who’d demolished us in the regular season) in the NFCCG. The 2007 team being ranked second to last is a bit more contentious though. Yes, they were only 10-6, Eli’s quarterbacking was pretty hot and cold until the playoffs, and we frankly got a number of lucky bounces, but the team was also just very well-rounded. We had a great offensive line plus both a 1,000 yard receiver and running back, with a top five rushing attack to boot. The defense was ranked middle of the pack in terms of points per game and per drive, but we also had a terrific front seven which led the league in sacks including two double digit sackers (Tuck and Osi) plus the veteran Strahan. Plus, maybe some homerism but I just feel knocking off the only undefeated team in the 16 game era is a pretty big added boost. I personally would’ve put them over the 2012 Ravens, 1980 Raiders, 1970 Colts, 2015 Broncos, and 2001 Patriots, but again likely some homerism there.

And the 2023 Chiefs just completed one of their very own. 🙂

Nah I would agree with their ranking, the 2015 Broncos had an all time great defense but tbh they also did an insane amount of heavy lifting carrying an anemic offense quarterbacked by the corpse of Peyton. They did have two 1,000 yard receivers but outside of Sanders and Thomas their passing attack was generally pretty weak with Manning putting up terrible stats. Brock filled in admirably in his absence but he certainly didn’t put up any gaudy numbers. They also got a huge break by not having to play the Steelers with a healthy AB and banged up Ben.

The NFL 100 was done in 2019, so it was Super Bowl champions from 1966-2018 (New England's last Super Bowl title,) along with other teams in history, dating back to the 1920's. While you can insert KC, Tampa Bay, and LA Rams, how is it, whenever these ratings are done, teams flop around? Example: NFL 100, #3 team is 1978 Steelers. But on this list, they are #4. The 1984 49ers were #4, yet they are #3 on this list. The lowest rated Super Bowl champion was the 2012 Ravens in the NFL 100, but now it's the 2011 Giants. Any explanation @NFL Throwback ?

Looks to me that its being ranked based on how they did VS THEIR OPPONENTS IN THAT PLAYOFFS (and season)rather than overall quality of the team.

None of these teams would beat the 1989 49ers. They belong at #1.

The '72 Dolphins will always be at the top of this list & rightfully so. Only way they can ever be topped is if a team goes 20-0( 17-0 regular season, win all 3 games in the playoffs & the Super Bowl ).

That should be at least top 15. That Super Bowl was great throughout.

@@LiamDeege They are not even close to top 15 lmao. They should have lost to the bucs or 49ers in the playoffs and didn't win a single game in december

@@user-jf3ru6vq6e Bucs just didn't play as good of a game as the Rams and the 49ers let that NFC Championship slip away. It was also a great story because Matthew Stafford finally won a Super Bowl at that point, he really deserved it in my opinion. Super Bowl 56 was one of the best Super Bowls as of recently in my opinion which is why I argue this.
