Apollo number 1 is the right choice imo. In his prime he would’ve beaten everyone on this list. If it wasn’t for Apollo Rocky would never have got to the level he got too. It was his training with Apollo in 3 that transformed Rocky from a brawler to a boxer puncher who carried serious power and combined that with his granite chin. Apollo is the goat and showed Rocky the way a champion should always carry themselves.

Good list but i think mason should have been higher because the only reason rocky did good is because mason didnt take if seriously and he didnt train or have any conditioning also at the end of rocky 6/rocky balboa it shows mason earning the respect of the boxing world and not seen as a paper champion

Realistically Apollo Creed was the most skilled fighter of the series. Creed downfall is what happens too Rocky in Rocky 3. He lost that hunger and became cocky.

I agree that Apollo is overall the best boxer in the franchise because he has by far the most consistent career and maintained his peak level of skill for the longest time, whereas Rocky would often peak and valley and need to get back into shape. But at his peak, during the fight with Drago, Rocky was better than anyone ever was or ever will be. To use a more extreme example, Whitey Ford was the Yankees best pitcher in the 50s and 60s, but he never threw a no-hitter. Don Larsen was a mediocre pitcher at best who had the best day in pitching history, throwing a perfect game during the 1956 World Series. For 1 day Larsen was better than Ford could ever hope to be, though Ford is an infinitely pitcher in every conceivable way. The differences between Rocky and Apollo are nowhere near as great, but it illustrates the difference between temporary peak performance and career performance.

I would understand it having Apollo or Rocky at num 1, but just as long those two and Ivan Drago are in the top 3!
