My list: 8. Chapter 6. The entire thing is just one big fetch quest and the backtracking is stupid. If you didn’t find one of the seeds you will have to search all over to even get into the chapter. I don’t love the theme of the music of this chapter but it has a good final boss. The only bad chapter in the game for me. 7. Chapter 4. it’s very unique but it didn’t really work for me. I don’t think it’s bad at all, it’s just nothing great. Still good though. I do love shy guys though. I also really like the final boss. 6. Chapter 1. I completely agree with everything you said about this chapter. 5. Chapter 8. The whole thing is pretty decent, but the final boss is incredibly of course. I do wish we spent more time at star haven though. Great ending to a great game anyways. It also has great music in this chapter. 4. Chapter 5. I love yoshi. I think this chapter is really good honestly. I like the whole volcano part and the final boss is great. I don’t really have much to say, I just like this chapter. 3. Chapter 7. This used to be my favorite chapter. The music is great and I love the whole murder mystery. I like snow levels, so naturally, I liked this chapter. 2. Chapter 2. I really like chapter 2. The theme is great, the desert maze is a good difficulty, not too hard, not too easy, and the entire ending segment is great, but not as good as the desert part. I don’t love the final boss though. The music is also great. 1. Chapter 3. Not even a question. I love this chapter. The music is great, the boss is great, the theme is great, and just about everything in this chapter in incredible. I also love lady bow. Your channel is so underrated by the way. Also it would be so cool to see Raphael or just some other random raven in Mario kart.

I enjoy the whole game, but chapters 2 and 3 define the "vibe" of the game for me. But I also thought chapter 7 made an excellent penultimate chapter with the Crystal King. He had none of the silliness or dumbness of the other bosses, and he comes out of nowhere with no backstory, so he just feels much more serious.

I’ve never played Paper Mario, honestly, I didn’t even know that it was a RPG With this video, I really want to play it! Guess I’ll be going to pay the expansion pack in switch online😂

I know TTYD is often touted as the best Paper Mario game, but the original will always feel extra special to me. It does lack the more engaging battle mechanics with the audience, stylish moves and superguarding, and the game feels very linear. But even with those, the way it breathes so much new life into existing Mario characters and settings just feels so uniquely charming. Whenever I pick it up and play it again, I always find myself looking forward to what's in store chapter by chapter, partly because it doesn't have the backtracking issues TTYD does.

Great video! I have the same top 2 just reversed, though my opinion honestly changes from playthrough to playthrough cause they're both so good. Oh also, totally agree with your points on Star Haven. I love that area and wish there was more to do in it. It feels like the perfect place for post game content, if PM64 had a post game.

Your points about the competencies (or lack thereof) of certain party members made me laugh and got me thinking about RPGs as a whole. I have come to the conclusion that most revolve around the idea that most NPCs are cowards and simpletons. Excellent video.

What is it with Chapter 3 being so great in the first two PM games? Glitzville is definitely the best TTYD Chapter.

If anything paper mario taught us to give those who seem incompetent at first a chance at life when it comes to picking your partners thus bringest the best out of them and having them push themselves past far beyond their own limits to save the day. Just because u seem like a misfit u are worthwhile. Or maybe its not that deep lol

Love this video, I’d rank it as follows. 8:Chapter 6 (not that bad, but the fetch quest gets repetitive). 7:Chapter 5 (would’ve been bottom for the yoshi hunt, but Kolarado is such a baller he gives the chapter a bonus point). 6:Chapter 8 (serves as a great ending, not much beyond that). 5: Chapter 1 (serves as a great introduction, Bombette best partner). 4:Chapter 2 (love the vibes, overall great). 3:Chapter 7 (if I had to be as objective as possible I’d say it deserves number 1, incredible chapter the next 2 edge it out imo). 2:Chapter 3 (my favourite storyline, great partner and every area’s great. Tubba Blubba did nothing wrong free my man). 1:Chapter 4 (I LOVE SHY GUYS!!!!!! Also the aesthetic is immaculate and general guy is peak paper mario, balances being funny with fun combat).

I gotta be honest, I agree with every one of your paper Mario chapter rankings except for one thing... You didn't even mention Toad Circuit! You think it's not even worth an honorable mention??#JusticeForToadCircuit

the only thing i particularly despise about paper mario are the peach sections after chapters and fuzzies. Also does like every paper mario fan replay the game over and over and over? i do it, and ive seen two videos now that mention something being a chore on each playthrough

Have u seen the new 3D platforming game Bolt Bot Screwy Viruses? It looks a bit like the Mario 3D games.

9. Prologue, it sucks. Not having action commands makes the game boring as hell and probably is what stops a ton of people from playing this amazing game. The bosses are just HP sponges that dont really have anything cool or special going on and mainly just exist to tutorialize stuff like picking targets in a fight or using items. 8. Chapter 6, all of the back and forth in this chapter is just braindead and stupid. I hated it on my first playthrough and even now that im good at the game its still by far the least fun part of the game. The flower characters are also some of the only genuinely unlikeable characters in the game with the exception of the lilypad one, I don't feel motivated to save them. It also doesnt help that the chapter doesnt really feel like it goes anywhere, like you said, most chapters have a part 1 and part 2 at minimum, which this one lacks and for that reason it feels a lot more aimless and rushed. 7. Chapter 1, its just basic, not a lot to say. It does a lot right in building up the game and is fun to blow through really fast since its way shorter than other chapters. I dont really like bombette though, shes super useless outside of killing clefs in Chapter 2 and 1shotting duplighosts disguised as bombette to save some time in Chapter 7/8. Kooper is great though, Dizzy Shell is one of the best partner moves in the entire game I'd say. If flower fields is a 5/10 this is 6/10 6. Chapter 4, This one is leagues above chapter 6 and 1 but still feels slow because of the back+forth. You can beat this chapter in like 30 minutes if you know whats necessary so its not as bad but its still just kinda annoying having to clean up after the shy guys every playthrough to make the hub functional again. The boss is awesome though, the Anti-Guy fight is really fun, and Watt is my favorite partner so its made up for. I like it. 5. Chapter 5, the yoshi jungle section isnt awful if you know what your doing, and past that the majority of the chapter is in the volcano segment which is awesome and feels super climactic for all the work you do to get there. Its still annoying getting there because the yoshi jungle isnt very fun 4. Chapter 8, A very climactic ending and an amazing final dungeon. Honestly I usually stop at chapter 7 though since I dont want to go through the whole thing again to see an ending i've already seen a million times. I cant really hold that against the game though since its my own laziness, this chapter has tons of great moments 3. Chapter 3, Forever Forest pissed me off so much as a kid that I cried but its honestly a great section, nothing in this chapter feels slow or boring and it feels like a genuine adventure having to save the Boos to get the card from Lady Bow. Also mega rush is the best badge in the entire game and the way they hid it in this chapter is hilarious 2. Chapter 2, I love desert worlds. The dry dry desert feels mysterious and searching for everything in it feels super rewarding and I still learn something new about the desert each time. I didnt know that Runaway Pay was even a THING until I watched ChuggaConroys letsplay, thats how well-hidden things can be. The ruins are also super cool, i love the way its paced and the boss is a favorite of mine. 1. Chapter 7, its the perfect paper mario chapter. There isnt a single dull moment, everything is either hilarious in story or amazing in gameplay. Over Shiver Mountain is the best song in the entire soundtrack, maybe in the entire series. Crystal King is a mysterious but awesome boss fight that is a genuine challenge in a lot of ways, and his dungeon is the best in the entire series. 10/10

For me: (And i know im late😅) 1. Chapter 5 2. Chapter 3 3. Chapter 7 4. Chapter 8 5. Chapter 2 6. Chapter 4 7. Chapter 1 8. Prologue 9. Chapter 6 (enemy spam af and you walk the same ways so often) Its crazy that chapter 5 is your least favorite i love the jungle vibes and the vulcano dungeon so much and thats why it is my favorite chapter but its your opinion and opinions are different🙂 I hate chapter 6 so much its the only chapter i hate. The enemys are so annoying the flowers let you fall asleep and the bees are so fast on the overworld you cant evade them. And the bees are so spammed there is such an enemy spam in that chapter and you have to walk the same paths so often i hate it😅

Hold Up! I disagree right out the gate with your number 1 worst. I ADORE chapter 5. It has that awesome fakeout ending at the end. Certainly there's a worse chapter than THAT. There's chapter.... um.... chapter....... uh...... .... huh, wow. Yeah N64 Paper Mario chapters kinda slap. Can't think of anything actually worse than that. Ok, Nvd. No Sorry please continue.
