The Raiders defense finished 8th last year and didn't lose anyone significant but added one of the best tackles to go beside Madd Maxx. They should be talked about more but I get it, they were 8-9 and don't have a flashy qb on the other side to make them more exciting to talk about by most shows

Wow!! He said the Ravens talent isn’t incredible? You could argue they have the best MLB and SS in the entire league. Mads is a top 3-5 DT in the entire league. That is an elite superstar on each level of defense. Then he said the secondary isn’t good. Hamilton and Williams are easily the best safety duo in the league and the corners are solid and deep.

It's this theme that the Ravens were only good because of Mike MacDonald. You would think MacDonald has been the defensive coordinator on the Ravens the last 20 years the way ppl act like they can't overcome that loss. You wouldn't know that they had a top 10 defense 19 of the last 25 years. And that their defense only turned around even with MacDonald after the Roquan Smith trade. Ppl underrating the Ravens defense and Derrick Henry in offense is going to be why so many ppl aren't going to see it coming when they are one of the best teams of all time this year and even better than last year

Niners are going for a more depth-based, speedy style with fresh cardio additions to compliment the top heavy d-line. Arik was great but he also didn’t perform nearly what he was paid. The defense should get faster pressure and more often this year from the looks of their signings.

I agree but imo these changes are more about run D adjusts, and adding Floyd who is versatile and fast. They look far more stout on the interior this year. Hopefully will have their playmakers back at level 2 and 3. And getting rid of Wilkes (who is the reason they didn't get a ring) is the biggest improvement.

Dee Winter is looking like a starter. Campbel has been a starter. The 49ers are solid at LB while greenlaw gets healthy. They also have multiple options at CB2.

I found the discussion about the Ravens talent disappointing. I don't think anyone has ever schemed thier way to the top of the league in sacks, takeaways and points allowed. Marlon Humphrey was injured from the start along with Marcus Williams and both starting edges Oweh and Ojabo. Clowney and Stone were backups. The defensive line is vastly underrated. They were able to run any scheme because the defensive tackles were dropping in coverage and stopping the run without numbers. The safety can play edge or nickel or deep half.

Thanks Mina for your accurate analysis of Sean McDermott and the Bills defense in 2023. It took a few games for McDermott to figure out how to best compensate for the injuries from all the key players like Milano, Jones, White, etc. But he did a great job down the stretch until the playoff game against the Chiefs when he ran out of decent replacements.

Nazeeh Johnson is going to be the Chiefs DB addition/starter to watch. He was going to start last year & was in training camp when he blew out his knee. He's back & rolling.

Ravens being slept on I see. Coach ZO gone shock a lot of people as the new DC and Geno was the backup to Williams and Simpson to replace PQ and Clowney is that one vet signing they do every year.

Exactly they had the Cleveland Browns as number one who won playing away. The defense gave up almost 30 points per game. They also played a bunch of bad teams or back up quarterbacks. The ravens were playing playoff teams and against multiple quarterbacks and shut out high-power offenses they drafted the second and fourth best cornerbacks out of college with a top five linebacker out of college . And there below Cleveland and Kansas City.

I agree. Ravens defense is always great. I think Orr will be very good but I understand some concern for a first year DC. I think the actual talent on defense is even better this season than last year. Ro, Mads and Kyle are just now entering their prime years.

They just pick their favorite defensive teams to watch and then justify the choice with random facts about the coaching and personnel. No reason the ravens shouldn’t be top 5

The Cleveland Browns Red Zone anomaly was, in large part, due to offense and special teams turnovers in their own end. .... the more you look into it, the more remarkable you realize the defense was. However, I completely agree with Mina's apprehension regarding that playoff loss. Great segment, thank you both. 🎉

Let us also remember that Mina shit on the Browns defense before the season started when they were catching hype around Cleveland. She literally said she doesn't buy the hype and doesn't see them in the top 10. She has hate for Cleveland because of their choice at QB and the shit is annoying

Ravens getting mad disrespect here huh.. They're always, always towards the top of the league, they have the best MLB in football, 3 top secondary players (Including someone who should've won DPOTY last year) and a lineup of absolute studs on the line. They routinely dominated top offences all year last year. 9ers, Lions barely even put up 10 points. You don't do that with purely scheme, you have to have players and the Ravens are absolutely stacked..

Raiders were the #1 scoring defense after AP took over (nine game span) giving up 16ppg. They added one of the best DT in Wilkins. They'll have a full season of Malcom Koonce and Tyree Wilson on the defensive line. There is depth everywhere, especially the defensive line. The only question mark they have is at one corner where there is a battle between Bennett and Facyson to see who will start. If they aren't top five then something is wrong.

The corner opposite Charvarius Ward is Lenoir for the 49ers. Green will be vying for a backup/depth role

Bears were one of the top defenses in the second half last year after they traded for Montez Sweat. They have 9 returning starters and an upgrade with Byard at safety and Montez for the whole year. Jaylon Johnson is one of the top corners in the league and Ty Stevenson had a strong second half in his rookie year. Yet no Bears in top 10. No way unless major injury.

The biggest quibble for me would be the Cowboys but overall Mina's top 10 looks like the better top 10. Although if the Cowboys stay healthy, some of their young unproven players can provide solid depth, and a 1-tech steps up (Mazi Smith?) they could be a better defense than most expect. But that's a lot of "ifs".

Lions were #2 against the run last year and they added to their run stopping with DJ Reader. Their backfield was horrid last year but they have improved that by measure.

I mean the Chiefs still have Chris Jones, and while Joshua Williams isn't L'Jarius Sneed, he can still step up big as the next outside corner opposite Trent McDuffie while Chamarri Conner or someone else takes T-Mac's place at nickel.

@@kchandaman3012most people probably don’t realize McDuffie was a lockdown outside corner in college and played well on the outside in his rookie year and has only gotten better since then. With Chamari in the slot and a loaded safety room, they’re gonna be nasty. 2nd youngest defense in the league last year..

McDuffie is not an NFL outside corner. He's a nickel or safety like the honey badger. Spags knows that better than anyone.

I know nickel is tougher and he was exceptional there last season, but he's kinda needed on the outside now that Sneed's gone. Chamarri can fill his shoes in the slot, he was fantastic last season filling in for Bryan Cook.

Griffin on a warm body deal & swapping Hicks for Cashman This is to say nothing of the fact they lost their best defensive player … what the fuck Mina? I mean, they downgraded it almost any position and have the worst interior line in the league You need to go back and look at the last six weeks of the season
