theree's a weapon that you can get a little into act 2 called "twist of fortune". This weapon has a special class action callled blood money, which does normal weapon damage + 4 piercing damage for every 300 gold the target has in their pockets. He had his PC reverse pick pocket Raphael and dropped 87k gold into his pockets. Consequently when Astarion hit him with blood money... That happened. (87k/300) * 4 = 1160 extra damage on that attack, instantly nuking Raphael. (orginal commetn by @common_undead)

you can get the weapon from the smough wannabe in act 2 (the toll collector) as for the money, i got it all by pickpocketing every single merchant i came across

I'm reminded of this old JRPG (whose name I've forgotten) I used to play. One of the party members you could recruit had a special spell that literally cost you 500g to cast each time. The benefit was that this spell ignored all resistances and protections of the target, so it always did maximum damage. Assuming you had plentiful gold, the best strategy for this character was just to cast the money spell over and over and over. I didn't realize it at the time, but years later I was thinking back on this and went "Holy shit, that was an ACTUAL pay to win spell!" XD

@@literallyjustgrass also: fuck Raphael, fought him successfully twice, first time i used the taps to summon all the shit I could and planted heroes fest on the party, proceeded to crit-smite, and moonbeam-sanctuary my way trough it (baldur giantslayer sword), the second time, oh boy, brought 3 runepowder barrels to the fight and the bomb, plus a bunch of smokepoder barrels (had a bone to pick after the twat ended an honour mode run), cast globe of invulnerability, pretty sure Mystra felt the explosion.

It’s moments like these that I realize how ascended other player’s strat is. Like I saw that weapon and was like “cool. That’s extremely situational, but I’m here for it.” This guys like “wait. All I gotta do is reverse pick pocket gold into someone then boop them and they nuke??”. What a legendary exploit 😂

You'd think you'd notice the weight of 83,000 gold pieces suddenly being dropped in your pocket. I know on paper dnd 50gp equals 1lb. We're talking about 1600+ lbs suddenly being dropped on you. Though I know bg3 the weight is a lot less.

@@wipeoutliang you can trade with almost anybody in the game that has dialogue options by just hitting the trade button. You don't even lose your place in whatever dialogue choice you were at either.

Besides, I highly doubt they will patch this out. In their previous game, there's a spell that detonates special arrows and bombs within enemy's pockets so it became legit strat to lock a Boss in conversation, reverse pickpocket tons of special arrows / grenades gathering dust in your inventory then use the spell (I forgot if it was named Hijack or Sabotage). It's mostly a useless spell and this is the only case where it's "useful".

i cant stop laughing at the goddamn escalation the piercing light of the initial strike with astarion's battecry the initial explosion of red, blood splattered in a misty circle a following thunder of white, flesh and debris settling then, a brief delay, as reality suddenly recognizes the sheer impact of what has occurred, and freezes as a shockwave materializes, dense as a fucking supernova, popping out of nowhere with Critical Hits clipping off the screen as the game tries and fails to illustrate the damage done

@@PenguinsAreColdish It took me a while to realise you could steal their whole trade inventory too, just keep giving Astarion stealth/sleight of hand equipment and keep him around to pickpocket any merchant you come across. You'll have tonnes of gold but probably nothing to spend it on because you already pickpocketed the equipment you would have bought.
