Traditional Vs. Offset Snips

There are a variety of snip styles you can use to cut sheet metal, but they are not all created equal. Take aviation snips for example; there are traditional aviation snips and offset aviation snips, but they have distinct differences.
Traditional snips are great for cutting sheet metal, but when compared to the enhanced design of a pair of offset snips, it is clear to see that traditional snips lack the superior functionality and versatility.

Just bought a set of offsets from Midwest. I always hated dealing with sheet metal cutting but now after viewing your video I'm kind of looking forward to giving it a go with some HVAC DIY

Yes, thanks for the excellent explanation. One thing I'm missing: is there something that straight snips are good for that offset aren't? From what I can tell, offset are better at everything 😅

There’s really no point buying the straight snips just get a left and right offset

Thank you! Very informative. Are there disadvantages to offset snips? I bought my first pair and decided to go with that non-offset, but now I’m second guessing myself.

Nick, the only real disadvantage to offset snips is that the blades tend to be a good bit larger that traditional aviation snips, so if you are working it tight spaces, they might be a bit awkward.
