I remember reading that Metra has possession of the largest quantity of the remaining F40PH's in service today. They've even rebuilt and changed the paint scheme recently too. Surprised that didn't make this run.

Hopefully you guys make a tri rail f40 soon. Would love to see the old color before their rebuilds, or the new rebuilds.

I thought for sure I was going to be most interested in the Ski Train or CSX versions, but a spontaneous trip to Boston has me eyeing up the MBTA version enviously

There were, basically, two groups of F40s on the T. Back in the day, at least. Below road number 1050, they were the usual screamers, and 1050 and above were F40PH-2Cs that had Cummins HEP sets and were several feet longer (at least the carbody - maybe the frame? not sure). At some point after I moved away from there (c.1990), they sent the originals (all? some? no idea) to be rebuilt and I'm pretty sure they got separate HEP sets, too, but not the extended car body (or maybe they got modern inverters and didn't need the separate HEP? I dunno). I think that group retained their road numbers post rebuild. But this is my real point: I think the MTA units had rock grates over the windshields. I don't know if that's still a thing along the NEC any more, but it was in the 70s/80s. Maybe glass is better now?

If you do another release of the F40PH the IANR 678 would be a cool addition. It's a Rock Island heritage unit so there might be some interest out there for one. It would be the first time modeled in any scale

I thought the phase 3 F40s looked off, the striping always seems a bit too thick. Shame we gotta wait longer for them but better to have pinpoint detail! Hopefully someday you all do more F40 variations like the 2CAT and 2C/3C.

Thanks for the update! Were the previous runs of F40's also 11/1000's of an inch too wide? Or will the correct 8" stripes match previous runs of F40's? Thanks for fixing them. They'll only be late from the factory once, but they'd have been wrong forever!!

Just Received My MBTA F40PH and Love it. Only problem is the Plow got Ripped off on it's 1st Run due to It Hitting a Frog in the first Turnout she met, (I will try and Reinstall higher or trim it). The phase 3 Amtrak F40PHs finally arrived. I've just ordered all 4 numbers for California Zephyr service. Now if Walthers would run more phase 2 plated Superliners! I need a few more sleepers and coaches.

7:46 quite ironic that the N scale F40ph-2d's have something similar but instead it is the mechanism's issues within the chassis. aside from that I can't wait to receive them(hope they run better than the FP9a's), and hope that one of Rapido's upcoming future N scale products in 2022, are these f40's as seen in the video but N scale.

Nice models, but they would look even better in N scale. The NJ Transit (and the Metro North scheme) would go great with the comets.

With the late phase F40s rolling out, any chance there might be a release of late phase NPCUs? Cascades, Phase V, and can't forget the Seahawks "Bandwagon" scheme!

Great video. But sad to hear about the delay on the Amtrak PhIII units. Jason, just how many people going to really care and does that previous runs are wrong, too? If you're that picky about the size of the strips, how about a working warning light above the windshield? Or rotating bearing caps? That is becoming an industry standard for high-end models. Because the factory made a mistake, does that mean prices on future models are going to go up to pay for all thoughs shells you guys are replacing? Sometimes as a business person you have to ask is trying to fix a mistake worth all the trouble or just let the few picky people fix it on their own? Was this noticed when coupled to your horizon cars?
