There’s zero cuts in ‘Save me’. They’ve done quite a few behind the scenes for their mv’s and ‘Save me’ is one of them. Absolutely everything’s choreographed including the cameraman. It’s hilarious watching them all run around behind the cameraman when they’re not in shot. ‘Dope’ isn’t a one shot, it’s just really well edited. ‘Louder than bombs’ doesn’t have an mv (although there’s a pretty decent fan made one) but it’s definitely worth a listen as the layering in it is stunning.✌️💜

Save Me is one shot, Dope has a few very clever cuts that you have to search for. BTS makes albums to listen to. That's why their B-sides are a treasure trove for Army. We like the title tracks, but a lot of our favorite songs are B-sides.

You might like “I’m Fine” which is the corresponding song to “Save Me.” The instrumental is actually the same just played backwards, there is no mv.

You should watch the behind the scenes of Save Me. It really demonstrates how hard a one-take video can be especially when you see how miserable the weather really was.

UK ARMY here. Great reaction and from your comments I think you would really enjoy their behind the scenes shooting sketches for their videos. Especially Save Me. You were right, the cameraman got a real workout that day! I got into BTS through the rap line and I don't know how many reactors I have watched who said 'oh these guys can RAP rap'. BTS started with 3 rappers so that set the tone and has a massive influence on them along with R&B and hip hop. Can't wait for your next video.💜

For Black Swan you picked up on the shadow play. The song is based in the Jungian concept of the Shadow ( which is representing one's hidden fears). The cool Shadow dance in the background for Suga and above the ceiling for RM and the sets, were performed by Jimin who also danced the Solo part and the wing spread part. The bass beat against the strings in the cool and wide expanse of some parts of the set, represented the heartbeat, depicting when the burntout artist no longer feels his heart racing with thrill for his craft. The song was based on Martha Graham's quote that a dancer dies twice, when he stops dancing, and it is this first death that is more painful. Parts of the movie Black Swan was cameod in Jin's mirrors reflection scene, Balcony scene and Jimin's Black Wings.

You might enjoy BTS Tiny Desk concert, with a small live band, they sang Save Me as one of the songs. Alternatively a dip into BTS watch Festa Room Live 2021, a medley of a few of their songs, raps etc, will give you an idea of where you might like to investigate next.

Save me was a tour de force. The weather was appalling, they had to run around the cameraman who was a real superman. If you watch the behind the scenes you’ll find out more. It has a companion piece called, I’m Fine. If you find the right live production you’ll see one morph into the other. Dope isn’t a one shot, it even has a little green screen which is unusual for BTS mvs. Black Swan is very balletic. You can see Jimin filming his dance part and there is a production of this where JK and Jimin do a pas de deux. The stage production for their Permission to Dance tour is very dramatic and not to be missed. The mv was shot in a disused theatre in L.A. and the mirrored room Jin stands in is the ladies bathroom. Again, watch the behind the scenes for that shoot.

Interesting that you picked up on the Shadow and Light theme in Black Swan. This is from their album Map of the Soul: 7. The album explores the themes of the work of Carl Jung. Our inner selves: The Ego, The Persona, The Shadow. Each of the rapline have a song on the album with these titles (RM - Persona, SUGA - Shadow, J-Hope - Ego) Great album! The song Black Swan addresses the fear of losing the passion for your art based on a quote from Martha Graham (a world renowned choreographer) who said "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing and this first death is the more painful."

There is a lovely behind the scenes for Save Me. And you were singing Dope 💜 The ballet is Swan Lake. About an evil/ black swan and a good/white swan, in many modern productions they are played by the same dancer, symbolizing the struggle within ourselves between light and dark. BTS has a whole series of songs about the shadowself. You noticed all the playing with light and dark, black and white. I also loved how much you appreciated the atmosphere that is created. Happy birthday! I also discovered BTS a few months ago and they completely blew me away. I've never seen so much talent and diversity in a group before both in their group and solo songs. They literally do it, they do all genres, and their lyrics are powerful touching on things like mental health, societal expectations from youth, and self love. You should watch the behind of the Save Me MV shoot. The choreography of them running behind the camera as well as the camera man himself. I’m so glad you picked up on the shadow imagery going through Black Swan. I know others have filled you in on Jung, but if you go back and watch, the progression of the shadows from looming at the beginning through the video is really cool. They used some standard dance lighting, which I love. Lots of down pools and back lighting plus some to emphasize and pop their bodies while dancing. It’s really gorgeous and is the MV that sent me down the rabbit hole. I really liked hearing your input on the music and mixing too.
