For a bit of background; rm and suga were heavily criticized for leaving the underground rap scene. Another rapper once dissed them in front of their face for not being real rappers and being idols, he also degraded them and called them girls bcz they wore stage makeup.

Bts usually doesn't target ppl when dissing or writing rather controversial songs, but I mean... The cypher series is a straight blow to those who were with them in the underground rap and degraded them, especially the guy who called rm and suga girls for 'leaving' rap or pure hip hop.

The flex is kinda funny because at the time this song came out BTS wasn’t really that big anywhere but it was still a flex on their haters.

I mean... knowing the history, I think the flex makes perfect sense, personally... Big Hit was a tiny company then, so they were often overlooked. Hate comes with hits, which they were just now getting. The rap underground gave them crap for becoming idols and 'selling out' (RM in particular, who was already a name there). Not to mention members of their own families telling them they weren't gonna make it and they were wasting their time. 'Big' or not, they must have felt like the world was against them.

They were already breaking records back then. They were even already included in the Billboard charts on 2013, but the media just covers everything. Even in 2017, when DNA broke many records, they were still not heard by many people. And now, they became too big to ignore. BTS were already big back then, media just did them dirty.

I really love your reactions, you really take time to appreciate the song and lyrics! One thing i think is really cool about cypher 1 is that theyre all 17-19, and while Suga and RM were famous underground rappers before BTS J-hope was completely new to it! Cypher 2 is actually my favourite, but i love to see the progression in their skills over time! Also, Sugas "We are bulletproof, was a bighit" is a double reference, they do have a song called bulletproof, and their record label is called bighit! He also mentions Chopin so i think its cool to mention hes actually an excellent piano player

Rap Monster, Randa (Runch Randa, pre-debut stage name) Rida (a different pronunciation of Leader), Rapmon (a nickname out of Rap Monster) are all RM's nicknames. So "your dad" is just another of his nicknames "We are bullterproof was a big hit" BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan, which translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts. Big Hit is the name of their label. BTS also have a song called We are bulletproof, a single from their first album. So a play on words, our first album was a big hit, but also, we bts are a big hit

Also, ur correct about the Korean army, Hope World is J-Hope mixtape, and BTS stands for the Korean expression Bangtan Sonyeondan literally meaning "Bulletproof Boy Scouts". . Everything with BTS is deeper and twisted into a story from song to song album to album 💜

Perfect playlist for BTS rap line plus ddeang but to understand ddeang and daechwita you should watch dkdk tv explanation because mostly BTS songs have a deep meaning specially these songs it’s hard for us as foreigners to understand 😅 but at the end as army I’m always surprised how there songs have deep meanings “I love them “ I purple you 💜💜💜 “ I’m still working on my English” ☺️

RM is an actual genius. His IQ is genius level. Their solo mix tapes are all fire. Highly recommend Joke, Dachwita, Hangsan, the rest of the cyphers, ddaeng, (but watch the explanation video first,) and a cover they did called, come back home. RM has collaborated with Wale, Warren g, fall out boy and they covered snoop and wiz Khalifa young wild and free. They have tons of hip hop influence from the states and know a lot about hip hop and where it all started. They did a reality show called American Hustle Life and they learned alot from their mentors.

The Chopin reference is very apt for Suga because he also plays piano. He has a song called "First Love" where he examines his relationship to the piano and music that's quite good. He raps it in first person but uses a lot of personification for the piano and even adds a particular inflection to his voice/rap when he is quoting or speaking as the piano to differentiate between himself and it. It's quite cool. Probably not as popular a request as the Cyphers, joke, ddaeng and tear etc (I agree those are a must). But please consider reacting to First Love after you've done those!

I have watched ALL Cypher reactions there are on YT and NO ONE noticed the keys on a Chopin line! I'm so happy someone finally did! Suga played piano from an early age and even has a song about it called "First love" so comparing himself to Chopin he doe with the full understanding of how far he goes and it's just adds to how bgraggadocious he is on this track!

I stopped watching rappers react to cyphers because I got so annoyed at everyone not reading the lyrics and then misunderstanding but this man! You should totally do Ddaeng by them. It's such a smart, classy diss track with Asian instruments and wordplay (prob one of their best yet). Watching an explanation video for the same (DKDTV does a good job explaining the Korean meanings behind) would be recommended. But even without that, the song hits hardd

Yes in korean boy groups you can find some of them releasing songs on soundcloud or starting their own label to release solo tracks while being in major labels. Like Zico for example (and his song Bermuda Triangle is a must).

About Chopin, Suga is a composor/producer, his first love is music that he discover through his piano (see the song First love). If you like that Cypher wait for the 3 others, they are fire. The rap line evolve so much and they just get better and better. Also, yes, korean men have to serve the army for between they are 18 to 28 years for around a duration of 18 months.

SO HAPPY to see more BTS!!!! I highly recommend following most of their songs in the order of their releases because watching their change over time and how different their voices can get is truly amazing!! I really hope Mondays start to show more BTS content because I truly cannot wait to see your reactions to them as well! Love your reactions (been a fan since you started with Blackpink because I'm such a huge blink now). Queet note on the: "Bulletproof" part the band's name in korean: 방탄소년단 = BangTan Sonyondan (BTS) translates to "The Bulletproof Boys" so, that's the play there and why it is a recurrent theme. Anyways, I hope you continue with the Cypers because the second part is my favorite (Also, only Suga, RM and J-hope are rappers in the group, but I highly recomend the songs with the 7 of them, I think you would really like Boyz With Fun)

In response to the Cassius Lance... you’re correct! Gaius Cassius Longinus is the reported centurion who stabbed Jesus with the spear on the cross as proof of death. So RM is saying his success is gonna be the Proof of death to all the other rappers who hated on him. Also when he said “ imma don “ I think it was used as a noun??? So basically he’s the elite school professor now. And he’s gonna teach them how it’s done. That’s what I got out of those lines anyway . Great reaction! I love how you take the time to ponder every little detail.

I love hearing people show the rappers technical love aside from just being like “they rap fast :D” cause the vocalists get a lot of technical love (as they deserve) but not everyone is geared to think about the technicalities behind rap, so it makes me so happy seeing people give them the hype they deserve

The Cassius lance take its name from the centurion Cassius, I think he's the one who killed Jesus with this lance when he was on the cross.

Cypher 2 is my fav btw the 4. Outro Tear is a masterpiece. Thank you for diving deeper into their lyrics. There are very few reactors who do this. You could actually spend a ton of time just on their solo mixtapes. RM has 2. Suga has 2 & J-Hope has 1. Each member of the rap line brings their own thing & it’s so freaking cool to watch them blend together so beautifully. RM recently said that putting an album together with so many members is like alchemy. Thank you again. 💜

If you’re looking for a more rap heavy kpop group “Stray Kids” are 🔥 starting with their debut song “District 9” or some of their more recent songs like “God’s Menu” or “Easy” is a good way to get into them! Also a song of theirs that is more rap focused is called “Maze of Memories” but there isn’t a MV for it.

Also that line that RM did with “who’s your top 5? Rap monster, Randa, Ride, Rapmon, your dad” are all his names/nicknames/artist names (except for the your dad of course, which is just like a “i’m above you” kinda thing i think? like with the honorifics they have in south korea about when people are older than you then you have to be formal towards them and that stuff)
