You are a brave man! I'm an ARMY for over 5 years and used to the "KPop community" by now. I don't even flinch anymore when someone sends me death threats because I've seen it all: threats, harrasment, stalking etc. But you are new to this whole thing so I tip my head for speaking your mind. It's going to be a long comment, so apologies in advance, but I hope it will be informative as well. I want to go into this video and your reaction to it a bit. A point you've brought up was that all music industries are questionable and I have to agree. I've worked for some years in the music industry, distribution and marketing for US labels into the European market. I've seen, met and interacted with a lot of people and it's in no way a clean business sector. People tried to bribe me, threatend me and even sexually harrassed me and I saw the same behaviour all the time with co-workers etc. Non the less all I've seen as an insider in the Western music industry was still way less disgusting than what I've only read about the Korean music industry. *1.) The big K-Pop companies!* *SM* - Very dangerous company; known for so called "Slave Contracts" which had to be forbidden by law by the Korean government; known for treating their artists very badly with numerous suicides and signs of other mental illness by their artists; known to be highly racist towards their Chinese employees (Exo literally lost 1/3 of their members bc they fled the country); as the video said uses bribes and threats to manipulate media; uses mediaplay to fake numbers and/or success; chart manipulation etc. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *You would think that's bad enough. A company that is highly racist, corrupt and is responsible for countless suicides of their employees? It gets actually worse!* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *YG* - They can only be classified as organized crime! YG and their employees are under investigation for tax evasion, drugs and sex trafficking. They are so bad that I have to split this up in categories again: *Sexual abuse* There is a case right now under investigation in which the company and a member of their biggest group seem to be involved in drugging and trafficking young women in a company owned club to supply them towards "business partners" for organized rape. Furthermore there is a history of Pedophilia. The (now former - he stepped down a short while ago) CEO of the company Yang Hyun-suk - or short YG spoke himself in a tv-show about how he "met" his now wife. As a grown man in his late 20s he took a "liking" to one of his artist's sister - she was 13 at the time. He pressured her until she signed a contract with him so he could be close to this minor. It ended with him forcing her (which is out of the question considering she was under contract etc) to date him and since he couldn't stand that her group could be popular and she might become interested in people her age he did his best to destroy their career. YG forced a child into a relationship in which she depended on his good will because he liked her since she was "the smallest" in the group (if you look at the pictures of her, even at 19 she looked like a 12 year old). But that's not the only case when he and/or the company and/or employees were involved with Pedophilia. There was an issue with one groupmember of one of YG's groups after a big Korean news outlet discovered that he was following an "artist" on Instagram who uploads pictures of children with sex toys. The artist in question said he only followed this "artist" a couple of years ago because the artist worked with him and the company. The second openly known case of the company be connected to a pedo "artist". And we have another case: This year another photographer surfaced in connection with YG who is known to photograph children nude. *Bribery, mediaplay, payola etc* YG is known to have "journalists" on stand-by to write fake articles about their alleged numbers. Furthermore is it public knowledge that YG pays for YT views via ads (legal) and via streaming farms. This wouldn't even be the biggest issue if they wouldn't use these fake numbers to advertise their artists towards potential foreign investors. Naver - the biggest platform in Korea (it's a mix between Google, YT and a news outlet) owns 10% of YG and therefore they try to silence any issues with YG systematically: e.g. while the Burning Sun issue was a hot topic Naver actively took it from the main page. YG also sabotages other artists directly. I already spoke about the third pedophile who surfaced earlier this year. YG did send him to BigHit to accuse BTS of plagiarizing his works (which of course is complete nonsense and he got cold feed very quickly since BH doesn't play around with things like that, they told him: "Well lets talk about that in court!" The plagiarized art was literally the usage of a standard table years back in an MV) but since he pulled out very quickly in fear of getting sued by BigHit YG didn't let it just go but rather paid a "journalist" who is actually writing for them to attack BTS during one of their press conferences again with this non existent issue. Furthermore they constantely try to link BlackPink to BTS by advertising them as "the female BTS" etc. They are also known to bribe and threaten entertainment media in Korea and bribe foreign media (I actually still have screenshots of "gifts" a Billboard editor posted). *Misc* Continuesly usage of cultural appropriation e.g. considering dreadlooks as a fashion statement while showing clear racist attitudes; using abuse as a PR gag e.g. when they had BlackPink pose with bruises but beautifully put together otherwise in a seductive pose; countless artists involved in drug issues; etc (there is a long list of issues) All in all YG is involved in issues that are way more severe than paying some radio station to play a song, they are involved in an investigation where the main prosecutor fears for his life because of the reach this overall scandal has including corrupt government/police. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *JYP* - Actually not the worst. You have the occassional cultural appropriation but "scandals" with JYP in general just mean that a TWICE member gave their opinion towards something and some right wing people have a problem with it. Because of their size they clearly have better opportunities in the Korean media industry but they don't threaten or bribe (to my knowledge) like YG or SM. Random fact: JYP actually was founded over 20 years ago with 3 people: JYP himself, Bang Sihyuk (the CEO of BigHit - BTS's company) and an accountant. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *YG and SM are very criminal organizations but JYP just profits of their size like BigHit does nowadays too but lets look at BigHit in comparison* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *BigHit* - Known for fair treatment of their employees with great profit split; allows complete creative freedom to their artists; their company motto is to help people to feel better in their stressful lives ("Music and Artists for Healing"); highly engaged in charity work even if that could have meant not only for BTS but also BH to be blacklisted by the former Korean government; merciless when it comes to protecting their artists (BH even sues random people who write malicious comments about the group on the internet); very much anti-establishment and progressive; extreme petty (just a few weeks ago they literally gave out a new statement about BTS's vacation in very easy words for the media since they couldn't understand the meaning of "brief vacation" in the former statement - and that wasn't the first time BH was petty towards someone that couldn't do their jobs right); wants to change the Korean music industry according to Bang Sihyuk (the CEO) since he dislikes how the companies operate and how Korean Pop music is made etc. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *Nowadays BigHit is the biggest company in the market. They are a private company but would they go public right now they would be worth more than all the other three big companies combined. But they had to start with nothing (they were de facto bankcrupt) and a company ideology that didn't fit at all into this industry that considers artists as products to sell and fans as money cows that get fed with the cheapest product possible.* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (cont.)

*2.) K-Pop fans* I called you brave because you are brave if you run head first into this hornits nest called "KPop-community". Let me give you a few examples about what kind of people I'm talking about: a.) November 2018 issue - KPop fans, especially BlackPink and Exo fans, gave fake (photoshopped) evidence about BTS's allegedly Anti-Japan attitude to Japanese Nazis because they wanted to involve them into the political issues going on at the time between SK and Japan. But they also fed fake evidence about BTS being Neonazis towards big Jewish social media accounts. Pulling BTS into a racist war they literally have nothing to do with. b.) Just a week ago I dealt with a young (16y) girl because she didn't know how to proceed. She was another case of KPop fans harrassing and sexually harrassing minors on social media. In this case is was an almost 30y old Blink (BlackPink fan) who thought threatening to rape her because of her music taste would be a good idea. Furthermore he is a sentenced and known violent criminal. But sadly that wasn't the first or last case something like this happening. c.) Korean ARMY doesn't leave venues (after award shows e.g.) alone since they are scared to be harrassed or violated by KPop-fans which is founded considering there were cases of K-Pop fans attacking each other even with weapons. They have a history of violence and they even attacked ARMYs in venues and threatend them with violence. d.) Attacking other fans, general public and the victims instead of judging a rapist harshly. Taking the side of a criminal despite overwhelming evidence by the police. e.) Celebrating the rape of a 14y old girl / celebrating the death of a child / sending death threats to a newborn / driving an innocent person to suicide because they are/were ARMY and/or a member of their family is/was. f.) Sending death threats to their own favs to be able to blame it on an uninvolved third party. etc etc etc ... those are just a few examples. Honestly I could and should write a book about how KPop fans act and how much that resembles the behaviour of other hate groups. Of course not all fandoms and not all fans are like this (e.g. ONCE (fans of TWICE) are completely normal people) but rule of thumb: "If it's connected to SM or YG be careful!" - From my experience you either deal with completely delusional teenage girls that rather poison (yes that happend) their artist than see them happy with a partner or mysogonistic male 20+ year olds who consider rape as "not that bad". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *3.) Make-Up* Actually that's not only something groups like Slipknot etc do. Every artist, every actor etc wears make-up in public settings, on set or on stage. You need to wear make-up because of the lighting if you don't want to look like a ghost. The funniest part about this whole B-Free thing is that he de facto wears make-up in his music videos. Also he is neither good nor successful. His most watched video has less views than big reaction videos to Cypher Pt2 which was BTS's answer to his word vomit and well the difference between his videos and BTS mvs is hundreds and hundreds of mio views. He is just a loser who thought he could talk s*** about some nobodies, so instead of getting a boost for his own career by being a decent human being he chose to go against people who then might only had a few fans but our attitude never changed: we don't forget or forgive if you wrong us. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *4.) EXO* I've never had heard of them either before I came across BTS and that was in 2014 even when nobody even knew BTS, even in Korea. Exo fans will tell you that's because they don't go for the US market but neither did BTS. BTS started to promote in the US after they already charted high in the US BB200. Unlike with Korea mediaplay is way harder in the foreign markets, ergo if you can't trick people into thinking your group is successful so they try to be part of the trend, you have to be actually successful. BTS always had a strong Korean fanbase, but not by numbers but the amount of work they've put in, they actually were more popular overseas than in their home country. The big difference between those two groups is that Exo is popular because people were made believe they are popular and BTS is popular because they could even capture non K-Pop fans like me which has no boundaries. It doesn't matter in which country you live when you find something you like, you going to share it with more people. That's how BTS achieved this global dominance while SM (as well as YG) artists tank in any other market they can't influence. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *I hope I could get a bit of insight in how bad it actually is especially with certain big companies and their supporters. It literally is a warzone especially we as ARMY are in evey day but who cares. The fans and companies threw everything at us and their artists went nowhere, furthermore SM struggles with money right now that they even plan to beg the fans for money and YG is so bad off that investors pulling their money out of the company, while BTS is the best selling artist in the world. The moment you see 13 out of 20 top trends on social media being about the birthday of the group's dog while others can't even trend their favs new release, you'll just know that things like these end of year shows are just the remnants of an industry standard that is already dead but doesn't know it yet.*

@@Mitchis_Euphoria More than that, even when Korean media still has a problem with aknowledging it. Before BTS came along Korean music was considered a joke at best. Nobody took anything serious that came from there thanks to companies like SM and YG. I can tell you from my own experience that we didn't even consider artists from countries like SK because expanding there wasn't worth it. We had to get our hands on music that would sell well in the US and Europe and KPop is not that kind of music.Considering how big they already are and how much they are growing with every new album we could see a complete shift in how the music markets work. Money might be distributed and invested in completely different sectors than nowadays.Honestly the biggest problem I see: BTS can pave the way as much as they like and I don't doubt at all that they will be considered as one of the biggest artists of all time down the road but I can't see many others if even any at all follow that path right now.

@@Adrasteia__ This is a huge post and very informative. Yeah kpop fandoms and the companies in Korea scare me the most with their treatment of others there really needs to be more laws and safety things put in place. However I just want to say please do not associate the passing of Jongh*un with the treatment SM gives their artists it is not related to his death. He suffered with severe depression which was a personal issue unrelated to his treatment by his company and was an unfortunate incident. As far as we know he was treated fine by SM and willingly working on his own solo project at the time.

I love your comment on make-up and toxic masculinity. A lot of my male HS students are actually fans of BTS but most of them deny it and even went as far as calling the fandom gay/f******. These are boys trying hard every day to prove their sexuality and masculinity out of fear of being labelled otherwise. I find it really sad that the people that are in their way to be themselves are themselves.

The final stage situation was definitely visible at the 2018 year-end festivals. But the end of 2019 (both festivals and awards) should be interesting. No artist in korea was as huge and very visible as BTS this year. For one thing, even without attending an award ceremony, they should be getting both the Album of The Year (Persona sold more than 4M) and Song of the Year (Boy With Luv is the highest on index scores). And for festivals, if they can fit them in their schedules, tv stations would probably be stoned the next day by the general public if they repeat last year's fiasco because BTS is no doubt the biggest and most popular in the whole of Korea right now. And because Big Hit has now gotten bigger income than SM and has years ahead planned (they now have the potential of even exceeding SM and JPY combined) tv stations now need to suck up to them.

Unfortunately it's not about income. Bighit has to first go public like big3 and make connections. He's very smart, its like he's preparing his army silently.

korea is always about power, money and connection to monopoly the industries,, in k-pop even a rookie can be in the top chart just because their agency, the giant agency can control the media and tv with their power and money,, big agency give all facilities and massive promotion for their artist,, thats why I like BTS so much, they are so good with their music and not as mainstream as other groups without "the power of money". sorry for my english ^^

B.A.P also had paralleled initial start and even the type of music they wanted to put out. The main difference is B.A.P. had an abusive agency. I am a hard BTS stan, also because they are what I expected B.A.P.'s exposure to become. If more smaller agencies HECK even the big ones, if they were as supportive and as caring about their idols as Big Hit, I bet they all could make a mark along side BTS on the world stage. We fans can DO wonders yes, but it's the agencies that have the futures of the idols in their grasp.

Its funny that you said same thing happen in America. This kpop SM agency recently announce they were putting a new group together by taking a members from other group under there agency. This group name is SuperM they are to debut here in America on Oct 4. SM working with a America agency call Capital record. Right away Capital put out a statement that this group will be the biggest Kpop group in America ,and they will pave the way for other Kpop group. I went what the hell is bts invisible bts already biggest group ,this year Kpop group like Blackpink Monsta X did America tv broadcast because bts have done it since 2017. So who pave the way. BTS was recently nominated for American Music Award coming up in Oct.,People Choice award in Nov.. And bts was inducted as Grammys members and there CEO of there agency on the board directors .Only kpop group that can vote for nomination with American artist for Grammy .I don't blame this new group But sound like this SM agency is trying to use his old car salemen tricks in America broadcasting and he has American car salemen to help

Yes lots of things happened in the past and some still do to this day. Even though there has been strong hate in the fandoms or fanwars even, not everybody from the other fandoms or groups are like this though. In fact many of the members from other idol groups are friends with BTS members. There is more beef with the companies they are from and in the fandoms, then actual idol groups. There are people out there that apparently have made it their mission to drum up drama even with their own fandoms and attack other groups/fandoms they feel threatened by. There have been talks that certain companies themselves will drum up stuff within their own groups fans to initiate fanwars. These type of cut throat malicious business tactics may work in the short term, they may even work for longer but it's toxic and harmful to the industry as a whole.

BTS is the ultimate underdog story. When broadcast and radio stations in Korea wouldn't play their songs or invite them to their show, BTS created their own variety show called Run BTS. They posted their videos and music on twitter and instagram. Through social networking they got their name out there and now they have millions of fans. They write and produce most of their songs. Last year SM and YG got so mad they banned the music award shows. They said it was because the votes weren't counted right. In reality it was because BTS won almost every category and took home the grand prize for every award show. SM and YG couldn't buy the votes to have their artists win so they banned the shows altogether. Now SM created Super M in a desperate attempt to compete with BTS which from the looks of it will be a huge failure. Super M is good but no where near the level and quality of BTS.

this video has no lies in it, but other artists fandoms hate to see it because it's true and they can't accept it. the big3 had the most power over the industry and for years they used it to benefit their own while viciously putting down any competition. a lot of small company artists who started to get more popular experienced the same put-down tactics in the industry as bts did and it impacted their carriers tons. it can make or break a success wave. in bts case though the difference was that international loyal fans came together to show support on such high levels where their achievements and work couldn't be ignored anymore. and the big3 labels who have influence over korean industry couldn't do anything about it because international communities are out of their reach. bts miracle was through their own music, work, unity, a good label that supported them through it all and fans that went and still go through fire for them to show support. i remember back then when we went through this all as a fandom we even had a say that we should just support them so much until they become untouchable. and that's what we did. now the big3 companies and other korea industry people are all scrambling to recreate bts' success with manufactured tactics, meanwhile western industry people are standing dumbfounded over bts success story bc they can't wrap their head around someone succeeding in the west without any big western label help or cheating the system with payola. bts reached this all by themselves, their label and their fans. and a lot of people hate to see it.

I don't know about before (though with what I do know, I take the stuff about Bobby with a grain of salt), but Bobby is a fan of RM's now and vice versa. You can take a look at just about any awards show and see them really enjoying the music when the other is performing.

I like that you have a healthy outlook on life etc great analogy with rock stars and make up; they're in entertainment industry and it's almost mandatory to look your best on camera whether someone wants to be a rapper or idol ppl will touch up your face and make it more appealing for tv. The spat with free b was him accusing rm and suga of selling themself and betraying hip hop which isn't the case - thanks to that a series of bts' Cyphers came out which are amazing dissing tracks. Like the marvel tshirt and son goku in the background also! You' ve got great smile and are cute 'n handsome overall, cheers!

The rap line has cyphers. Cypher 2 is about that radio show, BFree and the other rappers who were talking crazy during that time. One thing to know, BFree wasn't some major star. No one except for the people maybe on that radio show knows who he is or was. We don't even know where he is right now. Not only did BTS prove you can be an Idol and a bomb ass rapper so did many others like Jay Park, Zico, Dean, GDragon etc. He has "apologized" twice. The first time ARMY thought he was sincere cause he was talking about issues he was having and things like that . He said he just lashed out and we said okay for him to turn around and say nah he's not apologizing and if he sees BTS he's going to slap them. Right there is when he lost any chance of ever getting ARMY on his side for anything and we are a buying force of nature. If he was actually sincere we could have helped his career incredibly. He tried to apologize earlier this yeah and was met with a lot of silence and a few "Who are you again?" BTS has never responded to him after their cypher.

Its natural to all idols ,even not idols to wear make up(lipstick, contact lens),change their hair color, sometimes wearing a feminine style to be sexy, cool, swag, entertaining, are just too natural to asian countries, and many foreign people who react to kpop boy group disgust for saying and doing sweet things like kissing, hugging, saying I LOVE YOU even it is a stranger, friends,or the same sex because to korean, they respect the relationship of each other, the importance of show their respect and love to each other. They are not gay.😊💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Korean now call them " national treasures" , " The pride of Korea " and the Korean showbiz extremely respect them. Anywhere they go can become tourist destinations of Korea. Even when they held a fan meeting in a Korean city, the government and the people changed all the venues there to purple and welcomed them like the president. They used to be looked down on and treated badly in Korea, but now every celebrity who mentions them must be really careful if they don't want to be criticized. Even parliament and entertainment companies' representatives once held a meeting just to consider waiving military service for BTS because they brought so many benefits to the country, their profits were more than 10 or 20 mid-sized companies combined, helping the Korean economy grow. Korean see BTS as a separate brand rather than just a KPOP group anymore, that's all true. In Korea, a music award usually have 3 to 4 Daesang and last year they all killed all the entire Daesangs of Melon Music Awards, MAMA, Seoul Music Awards, even the Grammy of Korea - Golden Disk Awards. BTS owned more than 40 Daesang in Korea in just 3 or 4 years. The first one they received was in 2016. It was an unprecedented feat in history, but no one dared to criticize them because they absolutely deserved it. BTS is also the 7 youngest people in Korean history to receive the Cultural Medal and Lifetime Achievement Award for their contributions to Korean music and economy.

Please react to BTS - From Nobodies To Legends part 1 & 2. You will know their hardships and hardwork to become like now. Their name will forever be in South Korean history as a biggest boyband in the world this era who brings billions usd for their country every year from every aspect. BTS not only bring benefits for their country but also for every brand that they used. BTS has a midas hands. Once they mentioned a brand name or wearing something, it will sold out worldwide in a minutes. A lot of small brand or artist become huge success bcuz of them.

I'm glad you are interest in knowing why BTS gets hated on from their own country. Ok I'm gonna summarize real short. BTS is not Kpop. Kpop and Korea has done zero help to BTS to get to where they are. BTS is in class by itself against any singers or groups in this world, Let me say again in this world called Earth. BTS is much bigger than just singing & performing that's just extra. No one including BTS didn't anticipate how big they got and earned platform so big it could influence the WORLD. Some south Korean people still stuck on the past thinking. Them days are gone. World is changing because3of BTS. Yes I'm gonna say it. "World Peace" coexist in this small world because of technology world got small real fast. Since no country, people or any government don't do s**t for our future precious young generations so small group of guys decided at least try to change the world and they just doing that. I want everyone don't know s**t about BTS agenda which is to protect kids of today from pregedius, hate, violence and discrimination of any form or kind need to shut up and listen. Because most of us can't even imagine doing or try to achieve what BTS has achieved and done for our future young generations.

The issue of plagiarism, hate, trolling, accusations, death threats, etc. All of these have been going on in Kpop since the 90s. It's something Korean celebrities fear all the time. It's a toxic culture caused by fans or anti-fans. Toxic fans exist in every fandom. It can be overwhelming when the fandom is big. ARMY is not an exception to that. So yeah, a lot of toxic ARMY lurks around the web too, spreading the same hate towards others and even to BTS. Also, the whole Bang and BTS were alone in this isn't really true. Tbh, there won't be any BTS if Bang's company went under. It was Bang's supportive former boss and long-time friend JYP who gave him that boost he needs to keep the company going. A lot of people don't know it because these two always keep their relationship professional. Bang respects JYP a lot. He even mirrors JYP's managing skills. Even to this day, BH and JYP still keeps a close business relationship. It's just that there are so many "general" KZfaq content that comes out that lacks a lot of details.

Please be warned that Korean Crush is a sensationalist channel and often uses misleading or false information to create their stories. There are plenty of other videos and channels that do a better job and even have sources to support their video. I mean, it's fine to listen but listen with a grain of salt. The comments actually give better suggestions, like From Nobodies to Legends, BTS Hardships, etc.

Here's a video where a few Korean rappers ridiculed RM & Suga during a Hip Hop event in 2013. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d5xgoduiusXZeXk.html These so called rappers kept interrupting RM and Suga and putting words into their mouths. They had just debuted and were very young then. But they remained calm and professional despite the ridicules and disrespect they received. Then they rebuked by writing some amazing diss tracks instead. Now they have succeeded n achieved so much.
