Thoms vocal style was influenced by the great Jeff Buckley. He saw Jeff live and then went and wrote Fake Plastic Trees. He said that hearing Jeff gave him permission to use his voice to emote. Check out Jeff if you can, a very talented man who died far too soon. Jeff influenced Muse too.

I'd recommend Pyramid Song to get another flavor of Radiohead. While all Radiohead sounds like Radiohead, each song is its own immersive distinct experience. No band comes close to Radiohead IMO. They are the Beatles of our generation and its worth exploring their whole massive catalogue on your own free time. Smoke a J and listen to Kid A. I dare you.

Finally someone who speaks out what I keep saying for years now: they are The Beatles of our generation. And that is no exaggeration or a bad comparison. The creativity, the versatility, the evolution in their music, the musicianship itself, the marketing and production aspects and the sheer genius of both bands are outstanding both in their own times. I highly recommend listening to Fake Plastic Trees, There There, How To Disappear Completely and Exit Music (For a Film). Thank you.

The whole "OK Computer" album as I'm sure many of the Trash Talkers have already said is a masterpiece. I wanted to comment first before hearing what you guys think. To me it's like Radiohead's "Dark Side Of The Moon". what is a Paranoid Android? Some music writer claims "The song itself was named after the character from the book Marvin the Paranoid Android. The songs inspiration came from a night in Los Angeles where Thom Yorke visited a bar where he felt as he was sorrounded by » demons from another planet«. He elaborated: "Everyone was trying to get something out of me." I felt like my own self was collapsing in the presence of it, but I also felt completely, utterly part of it, like it was all going to come crashing down any minute." That night was also the inspiration for the whole OK Computer album, as it was filled with claustrophobia, paranoia and anxiety. The lyrics where written fast compared to the complicated instrumental part of the song: "It's about being exposed to God, I dunno. It was that one night, really. We'd been rehearsing the song for months, but the lyrics came to me at five o'clock that morning. I was trying to sleep when I literally heard these voices that wouldn't leave me alone. They were the voices of the people I'd heard in the bar. It turned out to be a notorious, coke-fiend place, but I didn't know that. Basically it's just about chaos, chaos, utter f--king chaos.« The main reason for why Thom was terrified that night, was a woman who was taking cocaine and was angry at someone that spilled a drink on her: »There was a look in this woman's eyes that I'd never seen before anywhere. ... Couldn't sleep that night because of it." She was the inspiration for the line "kicking squealing Gucci little piggy". "

Fascinating feedback on this, I'm a Radiohead-Head and have been following them since the start. Seen them multiple times and they are part of my life. Perhaps(being polite of course) you wonderfully friendly pair should check out Pearly(remastered as it happens, if not get a listen to one of the songs that did not make OK Computer, as Lift never made the record either. I enjoy the video's you do and thank you for this.
