Very rare Axe Restoration. This time I restore an antique axe and add some very awesome viking modifications and engravings to the metal.
ABOUT THIS AXE
I really do not know much about this axe. I had it for a couple of years, waiting for the right time to make the restoration video. I bought it from a guy who found it here in Sweden.
THE RESTORATION PROCESS
I started by sandblasting the axe and removed it from the handle who was “homemade” of some worthless wood. I welded the strange hole there was in the metal. I also changed the form on the head to better fit a real handle. I chose a beautiful and long hickory wood handle to get the Nordic Viking battle axe look. I also hardened the metal and gave it a black look by dipping it in oil.
THE NORDIC VIKING ENGRAVINGS
I made a very cool viking laser engraving of a Nordic Eagle who has a role in the Nordic Mythology. I also did some very beautiful decorations in both ends of the axe shaft also with Nordic Viking engravings. The one attached on the top Is some random Viking knots and the one in the bottom of the shaft is the Valknut “The knot of slain warriors”
I am VERY satisfied with this restoration video and I hope that you enjoy it too. Please subscribe if you want to see more cool upcoming projects 🙂 And DON’T forget to see the OLD NORDIC HAMMER RESTORATION - • Old NORDIC hammer Rest... Thanks for watching my channel. See you soon.
Best wishes and stay safe ❤ Martin

You can't imagine how happy I was to see you reshape the eye from a circle to an oval, my biggest pet peeve with restoration channels like this one is that while the creators are obviously extremely skilled with their tools and knowledgeable of their craft, they simply don't know how to make a weapon and instead just make what is essentially an art object.

Even long after the end of the Viking era, Viking descendants stayed famous for their axe skill. The axe symbol stands for strength and bravery. Its deeper meaning can be interpreted as the ability of one's heart or mind to cut through any obstacles on their life path. By the way, I really love this restoration! Nice video. But since the axe is basically an artifact and a “decoration”, replacing the original wood handle was a mistake I think. Keeping the blade a shiny silver would have been cool too. Still nice result.
