The 2526 is understated but is my choice. The enamel dial is damn cool + first automatic patek is a true “milestone watch” as Tim says. Fun fact: 2526 was more expensive at retail than many of their complication watches due to the price of the movement and the dial.

First of all around 450 pieces of 5004 were made, not 200. Stainless steel was done in two batches of 50, so 100 watches are in steel. So that leaves us with 350 of other watches. Production over 16 years was about 200 watches, so that leaves us with extra 150 watches that people don't know about, this belong to the area after 2012, known only among top VIP Patek clients as "vintage collection" offered exclusively to the 3 Patek Salons clientele. Out of this remaining 150 watches, about 25 were made for Saatchi exhibition in London in 2015, such as salmon version white gold and 10 pieces 5004P-046. So about 125 watches were made for super vip clients as vintage collection, about 50 of those were unique pieces. and the other 75 in small production of around 5-10 watches per metal and dial configuration. So the white gold version of 5004 in this video, also know as G15 because it is 5004G-015, this watch is in fact the rarest of all watches produced between 1996-2012 (in some cases 1994 to 2010), the G15 out of 200 watches made in my opinion is the rarest, probably only around 10-15 watches max. Of course if do not count the platinum version baguette diamonds, so 5004P-032 this would be the rarest Patek but it was only made at the very end of 2009/2010, so maybe in total 5 watches. Unfortunately why this watch will never replace 2499 is due to Patek's over production of steel version and over production of vintage collection that was made between 2012-2021, there are too many of 5004 that are unique pieces, and that's a not very good thing for a Patek collector or any collector for that matter. It is still the best watch ever produced by Patek, nothing will ever top it.

A masterclass of sorts here, great job, guys! One of the most rewarding ways to spend 30 min on KZfaq than any other I can think of. I have a couple of questions that I hope you can indulge me in as I'd very much appreciate adding to my learning. 2526: reference was made that Rolex had a 20-year patent on their automatic movement design. Questions: (1) after that patent lapsed, did PP use/adopt that design? (2) if not, why the need to wait out the expiry of that patent? (3) did PP not consider Zenith's El Primero movement instead of waiting for Rolex' patent to lapse? (After all, El Primero's introduction pipped Rolex to the public records as the first auto movement, didn't it?) Thanks in advance! (Looking forward to more from you and your team!)

Sorry Tim but stating that the 2526 was made in 600 examples is hugely false. White gold with white dial represented about 30-40 percent of total 2526 production. Total production for this reference was between 2500-3000 which means that the exact model you had in your hand is likely 1 of 700 or more. Total production was much greater than you stated.
@the1916companywatchreviews
@the1916companywatchreviews Жыл бұрын
The movement production is much higher than the total of the 2526s. But I'm happy to update the record if you have a source for 3,000 units. Best, tim

@@the1916companywatchreviews They made around 7K of the movements in various references. But it is a well known fact from various sources that between 2500-3000 ref 2526 were made in various configurations. I can certainly provide reputable sources but simple putting “how many Patek 2526 were made” there are many reputable watch journalist publications that say it among other reputable sources. I also believe that given the length they were produced that they made up a huge majority of the total near 7K production run.
