I already heard about the history about your car. This car has been bough by Mr Carrier at St-Georges-De Beauce in Quebec in 1970. The car was a flower car for funerals. In 1995, Mr Poulin of St-Come-De-Liniere Quebec bough the car from Mr Carrier with only 13 000 miles, at the time, Mr Poulin was the second owner. The only trip the car had done, at that time in 1995, was in the New-York State. This car was part of ‘’GUIDE DES VOITURES ANCIENNES 2nd Tome’’ published in 1999 and I own this book.. This car was one of my dream car when I saw it in that book when I was 14 years old.

Mine was two door , 350 high compression 100 octane 4 barrel, 300 hp, 4 bolt mains, forged crank, 3 speed. I loved it. All the power you ever need, 20+ MPG highway at 65.

Beautiful car, the 69-70 B body 4 door hardtop roofline was so elegant and the 70 front end was the nicest of the 65-70 generation.

The dad of my best friend in high school had a ‘70 Caprice 2-door with the 454 cid. It was light yellow with black vinyl top. On the few occasions when he was allowed to take it out we were in teenage heaven riding around in it!

I had a 1970 Impala 454 390 hp convert. Green with saddle tan interior. Air and full power. Auto. Wish I still had it.

What a gorgeous car! The sound of the engine sure brings back memories. I also love that it still has the blue Chevy bowtie on the front, I wish Chevy would go back to that.

In 1976 I was 16 and bought my first car, a 1970 2 door Caprice, man oh man, I sure wish I still had it, had so much fun in that car, man, the memories! Your car is beautiful!

I remember riding in the back seat of one of these when I was about 6 years old. The reason that car ride made an impression on me was because the back seat was wide and comfortable. I recall eventually feeling asleep and thinking the back seat felt like a bed. When the car came to a stop I didn't roll off cause the seat was so wide. That's all I remember. Years later I found out what kind of car it had been from my parents.

Lighting a candle to 4 door sedans of the 60s and 70s - that's rare classic right there. Fun fact: I live in Switzerland and regularly visit US car shows in central Europe. When I look around there, all I see are 4 door versions of full size cars. When I do the same in the US, all I see are 2 door versions. Looks like the 4 doors were all shipped off to European collectors. More doors, more fun seems to be the European motto.

Never saw one before. Dimensions are perfect. That engine is smooth. Incredible how poorly Detroit responded to fuel and safety regulations; never recovered.

For me, the blue interior was really what made this car awesome. I don't get so interested in big block motors as they suck way to much fuel. The button tuff design on the seats is absolutely stunning.

Wow, you have found a really nice car! Having been used in funeral service explains why it looks so good after all these years. I think, however, this car was used as a "lead" car or even to transport family members, clergy, etc. It would never have been used as a "flower car" which explains why the upholstery is without staining. Also "lead" cars tend to be babied because they are the first car in the procession and the funeral home wants them to be immaculate in appearance. Which explains why it is relatively dent and scratch-free. The 1970 cars are some of my favorites. We had a few Oldsmobile 98's that were just wonderful.

Really like this car.I had a68 caprice that a doctor ordered for his wife.Was 2nd owner.Was 4 door hardtop hideaway lights ,seats like yours,comfortron ac,power seats,windows and a stereo that sounded better than any factory system I ever heard.The radio controls only turned it on and tuned stations.Console below had separate bass and treble,volume and balance of front and rear speakers.Found out after I had it a while that there was booster concealed in the dash.The 8 track was good too.All factory and and I never saw another like it.It was 327 and turbo 400 trans.Didn,t care for the fender skirts.I know you like full size cars.You would have liked mine.

My parents had the '69 Impala version. Loved that loop bumper. So clean lined especially with the hidden headlights. The 70 version reminded me of Buick, particularly Skylark models. This is a truely beautiful car you have.

In my teens I spent much time in a '70. The friend I spent the most time with had a green on green on green (paint, vinyl top, interior) 2dr with a 400 for power. Personally, I liked the formal roofline - it gave an air of elegance to what was actually a fairly common car. Of course his car wasn't stock - it had many modifications - we were young and everything just HAD to go faster, but even with the louder exhaust note from headers and duals, the lopey exhaust from an aftermarket cam, and Corvette rally wheels instead of stock wheels and cover, the car never lost that elegance in its appearance. I might add, I miss REAL full size cars, cars big enough to carry six adults in comfort.

Adam, I just love your 1970 Chevrolet Caprice. The BIG news with all my buddies in middle school for 1970 was, "what happened to Pontiac?". For 1970 Pontiac went "Halloween", with the most radical front end styling I've ever seen. In my hometown, the Chevy dealership was next door to the Pontiac showroom! One of the Chevy dealers taped a handmade sign on the window, "Thanks for scaring all your customers over to us!". It actually made the local TV news, mom and dad just died laughing! Chevy/Pontiac - both look good to me. Thanks Adam.

Beautiful car. There were still a lot of these on the road when I was growing up. Neighbors had one in avocado green with the dog dish hubcaps in the late 1970's.

Great pristine 70 Caprice. I have a 70 Impala conv with the 350, with over 190K miles. Its in Nowhere this condition, probably a 3- to 4+, but these cars do have a great ride, even if the convertible model does have a bit of flex to it. thanks for sharing it!

I really like that 1970 Chevy Caprice. That is a really nice car. I always liked those full sized Chevy sedans and coupes, along with those from the other GM divisions. Too bad there aren’t cars like that anymore. Very comfortable to ride and drive.

That was my first car in 77 , I used to park in way on the very back of my high school because it was an old man car when some of my friends were driving Camaros

This is a great car. I had this in about this year (same style). Blue, with a white vinyl roof from memory. Rode like an ocean liner. Only problem was that I was commuting 110 miles a day and that baby seldom broke 10 miles a gallon. But, yes, I wish I had it back today!

I agree with Adam 100%. Let everyone chase the muscle cars and pay those high prices. I've had them over 40 years ago when they were dirt cheap. Now? Forget it. This car is my favorite of all the cars Adam has shown. It's a classy car for sure. Back when American cars ruled the road. Its is a great reminder of great times. Thanks for sharing Adam.

Not only did I work summers in the 70's at a Chevy dealership, but I owned a 1970 Impala Custom 2 dr hdtp coupe with the trunk lid that was tri level. It was triple gold with fender skirts with the 350 engine. I had it painted dark green metallic around 1977 since the paint was fading. I loved it for another year after it was painted before I gave in for a economy car since the price of gas had gone bonkers then. This Caprice is so very nice. Reminds me of the triple black one the owners of the dealership drove as a demonstrator in 1973, with the 454.

I owned a 1970 Chevrolet Impala Custom Coupe. Even though I was young (20 yrs. old) I loved the car. But, I lived in Xenia, Ohio then and on April 3, 1974 a tornado hit Xenia and totaled my Impala.

My parents bought a 1970 Kingswood station wagon brand new. Same front end as the Impala/Caprice. It had a 350. block. Ate up lots of gas, but we drove up and down the east coast USA on I-95.

i use to write service for a chevy dealer in the 70,s and got to drive the whole chevy product line.i was most impressed with the 1970 fully loaded chevy caprice with a big block.what a beautiful automobile in every way! wish i could afford a 2dr. black on black 70 caprice.oh well, i can always wish!

I’ve got a 68 impala currently my daily it was my first car. I like it a lot. Very comfortable well rounded car. Super easy and affordable to do upgrades. Surprisingly lightweight, weighs less than a 2022 mustang lol. With a small block, hei ignition and the qjet with a good tune mpg in the mid to high 20s is very possible. I clocked some good numbers when I tried but it’s hard to stay off those secondaries with how good the qjet sounds! 😆

I'm a kid of the 80s so my memories of a lot of these car is of them when they were already 10 - 20 years old or seeing them on TV or film at the time. However, seeing them in "like new condition" in modern HD makes me realize how good looking and well designed these cars were and how good the paint colors look when they're not faded, discolored, or hidden by rust.

In high school my buddy had 68 Biscayne 4 door 250 six... the bottom line car. Easiest starter motor change I ever did. Actually it was really easy to service period even the brakes were simple.

Those bumper guards really set off the front end well.

great job..i told my dad to buy a 1969 chevy impala custom 327 when i was 15.. and let me check the oil every 2 weeks we took the car to 175k .. chevy parts are 1/2 as cheap and you can get anywhere unlike b o p...also don't open the hood in the rain.. it shorts out the disruptor cap.. it 2x

Mid 1960s GM was at it’s peak. A neighbor had a 4-door ‘70 Caprice which I drove several times. It was fully loaded with power windows, AC, AM/FM and 454V8. What a great car. The ‘71 was even larger/heavier and even though nicely styled I preferred the 1965-70 GM full size lineup.

Love the interior. Usually not a fan of blue interiors (I have had plenty of them) but with the black outside it looks fantastic.

I agree with you. Those cars are fantastic. I had a 1970 Impala. It was silver with black interior and black vinyl top with the 350 engine. It did have air conditioning. Unfortunately that car was destroyed on February 5th, 1977 in a crash with a Pennsylvania DOT snowplow with me driving. It was during a blizzard with near zero visibility conditions. Neither one of us could see the other one at the time of the crash. Fortunately I walked away with only some bruises and a broken hand. I'd love to find another one because I's sure buy it. Adam, this time I’m in complete agreement with you. Most times I will pick the full-size Ford over the Chevy. Two exceptions are the ‘61 and the ‘70 (and maybe the ‘73 … after’73, I lose interest in full-size cars). I do really appreciate the 65-70 Chevys, and all GM cars from that era. They hit the sweet spot for sure. I remember when the ‘70 Chevys came out. I was in love. The ‘69s were so similar (and I liked them, too), but I didn’t care for the big loop front bumper either. It was too much. The ‘70 models were perfect in every way (except sales, where Ford won). You’ve got a honey there!!!! I remember riding with my mom and sister, taking my sister to work in 1970. We were in my mom’s ‘66 Bonneville 4dr Vista hardtop (gold with black vinyl roof). An older lady in a brand new ‘70 Impala hardtop (also gold with black vinyl roof) turned into us. It was my first wreck. I was so excited. Nobody was hurt, and only our Bonnie had minor damage to the left rear fender. When the lady driving the other car got out, I saw she had a broken nose all bandaged up (my mom said she probably wrecked her last car and that’s why she had the new one). I can still see that entire incident in my mind, 52 years later. Oh what a day! My uncle had a ‘70 Kingswood wagon (yellow with black interior). The one thing I remember about it was that it squeaked loudly every time he turned into our driveway. That always bothered me. Great video. Thanks for sharing!

I agree this is the nicest of the Caprices. The right equipment and colour for me. Too bad about the no a/c but with a collection of beautiful autos you can pick the days. Its great these cars have the best caretaker possible. We will never see the likes of these again.

Owned a 69 impala convertible 4 speed, BB 396 with police package..was my college ride ;-). That was an exceptionally good and comfortable car.

That's a real pretty Caprice! I had a 69 2 door HT with the 350 300 hp. motor and a 12 bolt 3.08 posi rear. Fathom green on olive green interior. It was a nice car, but it had a lot of cheese in it and the frame had been repaired several times. (Southern Ontario car, in the "salt belt"). I now own a 66 Caprice, 327 275 hp with a power glide and a 10 bolt posi rear. Ermine white with the turquoise buckets and console interior and gauges. It had a frame off restoration several years ago, and is still beautiful. It's nice to drive, and has enough power to get out of it's own way. Yours was a great find! Just under 46 K miles, it's not even broken in yet! Enjoy!

Totally agree - the 1965-1970 period was Impala's /Caprice's height.

a little thing that I always liked: the premium gas and brake pedals with the chrome trim...Ford was doing that at the time..any Ford car with disc brakes got the chrome treatment, at least on the brake pedal.....by the mid 70's even the Lincoln didn't get the pedal treatment...so cheap.

Hi Adam, I love watching your videos and I love your collection. I had a car that was very similar. Mine was a 2 door Impala Custom Hardtop (1970) mariner blue with a navy blue vinyl top and nay blue interior. The back window was shaped a little bit differently if I remember correctly. The trunk was absolutely massive. I remember my mother has sent me to the hardware store to pickup 10 sheets of plywood. When I left the house that day I was pretty sure the plywood would have to hang out of the back a little and I would have to tie the trunk lid closed. In fact, I remember my mom and I were searching for some rope to do so before I left. But nope. The guys at the hardware store put all 10 sheets of plywood in the trunk and closed the lid. We were all quite surprised that happened, and no, I did not have to remove the spare. Later when I got home, my mother was like, "where's the plywood"? and I told her it was in the trunk. She didn't believe me until we went outside and I opened the lid and there it was. She couldn't believe it and quite frankly I still can't believe it fit either. Especially in a 2-door car. That was an Era when cars were just fantastic. You could do so much without having to rely on someone else with a truck or wagon to to a weekend project. It's just so sad that cars have become what they are today and 10x the price and now all you can fit in a trunk is 2 laundry baskets if you're lucky.

Love this car- thanks for showing it again, you have the most interesting info on all the design background, soooo great! Always LOVED the tail lights on this, for some reason wasn't a fan of the front. I remember sitting in this car as a kid and thinking they were the softest most luxurious seats ever! Wonder how they used it for a flower car, maybe they had a flat board on the back seat and lined up the baskets on it. Seems like a wagon would be better. We had a '68 Impala and it was one of our favorites! Bulletproof. I took it to college and it was fun to pile my frat brothers in it to ride uptown. Sure love your new neighborhood!!

My Bother had a 69 Impala with the 350 engine. That was a great car too.

My girlfriend in high school had a 4 door Chevy Caprice. Dark green/ blk vinyl top w slightly lighter green buttoned cloth interior. That was one of the most solid, well sound proofed vehicle, in it's price range, in which I've ever ridden. Her's had the 454 as well. Great driving car.

I agree I had my first car a 1970 that I got in from my grandmother and the car drove unbelievably well the time it was 15 years old but she had always taken care of it . Oddly enough they gave it to me and they bought a brand new Chevy celebrity wish they had for another 10 years. But even though the car was considered a large car by today's standards or even in the 80s it did not drive like it was difficult it seemed very well situated the distribution of weight even the ability to see the road was fantastic the seating was high up very nice guy drove very well

Thank you for sharing Adam. I have read interviews with Blaine Jenkins. He did a lot things at Oldsmobile. I knew his work was well regarded in GM. The under hood is indeed clean. It is interesting the lack of wires and sensors and computers on this car compared to a new car in 2022.

When this car was new I was learning to drive. Our driver education car was a 1970 Impala sedan with a medium blue exterior and blue cloth interior supplied by the local Chevy dealer. Yes, that's way back in the day when you took drivers ed. at your high school and a local dealer would supply the cars. Nowadays you pay an arm and a leg for this experience from a private company, but it was just included in our education all those years ago. Some things were definitely better back then!

We had 71 Caprice Classic for family car..one thing we disliked about it was "flow through" ventilation which everybody hated.

I bought my first car in 1978. It was a 1970 Chevy Caprice with 56,000 original miles. It was a white 4 door with a black vinyl top and black interior. It cost $13 to fill the gas tank back in 1978...I paid $700 for the car. This car drove so quiet and smooth it was like riding in a Cadillac.

We had a '65 Impala sedan (the first year of that 1965-70 body style) and it was one of the best cars we ever had.

Sweet Caprice! I am a huge fan of 64-70 Full size Chevrolets. I have owned a 64 Impala 2dr hardtop 283 / PowerGlide and a 69 Impala 2dr hardtop with a 396 / Turbo 400.

Great Chevy, one of the few that could convince me as a Ford/Mercury guy. I once had a 63 Impala, pretty in style, but pre-war steering, brakes, suspension, transmission and the 283... ;)
