I AM STUPID and thought hydralodon worked differently, it might be the worse one now!

I'm surprised Blizzard didn't take the opportunity to design a +6 colossal, spreading on the whole board. Could be like the neutral colossal of the set.

One thing to consider about Gigafin is that, even if it dies before the Maw, it RESETS all your opponents minions to have summoning sickness. Like that, it at minimum doubles as a board freeze / silence for buffs!

hydralodon doesn't infinitely clear the board, the main minion only has battlecry give the other ones rush. still, the card is an immediate 6 damage and a nightmare to clear off - pretty good!

8 months later, let's see how this holds up: CORRECT Crabatoa - It's an auto include in the vast majority of Rogue decks, and hands down the strongest Colossal minion. Nellie - So good it had to get nerfed to make the Pirates cost 1 less instead of 1. Nerfed into irrelevance, save for the few brave souls trying to make Control Warrior work. The Leviathan - Not super flashy, but it fits the checklist for a generically good card to put into any Paladin deck. Hydralodon - Similar to the Leviathan, just a generically good Beast for Hunter decks everywhere. Popped off once its package was buffed. MOSTLY THERE Blackwater Behemoth - It took a mana cost buff down to 7 for this card to be considered seriously. Completely tied to Questline Priest, other Priest decks don't want this. Glugg the Gulper - It took a while, but it got there. Mostly when Control Shaman rose in prominence, Glugg was a core part of the gameplan, offering crucial Taunt and a hard to remove threat. Colaque - The only reason why it's not the worst Colossal is because Ozumat exists. Colaque saw only niche play in weird off-meta decks, and nothing else. Too slow and passive for a 7 mana play. Gigafin - One of Warlock's strongest mass removals, and a core inclusion to slower Warlock decks. Took the Abyssal Curses getting buffed to see serious play, and fell off in Nathria alongside slow Warlock decks.5 Gaia, The Techtonic - Went into Mech Mage... and exactly nowhere else. One of the strongest cards in the deck, but its reliance on Mechs kept it out of other decks. WRONG Xhilag of the Abyss - Before its buff, it was the weakest Colossal. Too easy to deal with, too slow to get going. Once it was buffed though, it was a core inclusion in every slower Demon Hunter deck.

Collaque’s shell should be 9 health and armor instead of 8. There’s a heavy presence of 8 attack minions in the game, so, nearly every late game minion kills it. Seems to lack flavor as the shell of a colossal turtle.

Since most of the colossals are beast I think people could start running that 3 mana Golakka Glutton (or as I call it Hungry Pirate) to destroy them easily :D If there is enough of them in meta

I think because you've spent so much time seeing how this game evolves, changes with new cards, and the community's response to these changes; the analysis you're able to bring seems much more insightful. I'm really curious to see how this meta shapes up because I have a feeling you're spot on about most of it.

When I saw Hydralodon in the previews before the set came out, I was excited. It looked like a cool card and I always thought the myth of the Hydra re-growing two heads for each one severed was a fun story so I was happy to see something like that in the card game. It has made Hunter my new favorite class for this season.

9:36 I'm sorry, but I think you're just dead wrong on this card. Keep in mind that Primordial Drake saw plenty of competitive play, and that was a 4/8 taunt with Consecration tacked on to it. Gaia the Techtonic is an 8 mana 9/13 with Consecration tacked on to it - and that's if it's the only Mech! It's great when you're behind, and even better when you're ahead. Granted it doesn't have Taunt, but in a way it also has "Battlecry: deal 4 dmg to enemy minions."

One thing about Gigafin is that if they do kill him, their freed minions won’t be able to attack that turn, so it will stall a bit at the very least.

Rarran, I have a suggestion for a vid: Looking at the core set cards that left and seeing where they failed to push or support an archetype (and how the current ones will be different) It was a bummer seeing a buffed Draenei Totemcarver see 0 play during last year, but totem shaman got zero love from blizzard.

I feel like I'm the only person that's not a fan of Xhilag and I feel even more justified in that after seeing the core set. It just seems so easy to wipe out the stalks right away leaving you with a 3/4 that does nothing while not needing to adjust their decks at all. Thanks to wild pyromancer coming back every class has an easy answer for this with room to develop more on the board after. There's cases where the card will work and work well but most of the time it just eats a cheap AOE spell then sits around doing nothing

I just realized that Shaman’s theme this expac is to summon a bunch of those 1/1 fish things. They actually go with Glug! You’re supposed to swarm your opponent with those fish things and have them all die off so Glug then kills your opponent in one hit.

The big question I have for gigafin that would make me want to argue with your placement is the status of minions once they're spat out: Can the minions attack like normal once they're spat out, or do they have summoning sickness? Cause if it's the latter, then gigafin becomes better as your opponent would need to not only kill gigafin but also lose the momentum they had built up two turns before. If doesn't make it an A but that effect should be taken into consideration.

Would be good to have a re-evaluation of this now.

Gigafin has two purposes - you can clear the board and kill the maw easily or you can drop two big minions on an empty board for great value - really underrated imo

I feel like you’re heavily under-rating Gaia, especially in a control or Highlander Mage Deck It’s a good boardclear mid-game which provides tempo and forces an answer if your playing multiple other good mechs or even amalgams. It’s just all around a good card, providing a lot of useful utility no matter which matchup

I was sceptical about Firestone, having been using HSDT for many years now. Gave it a go after Roffle and Dane both started using Firestone (sponsored obviously) and I will never look back. It is genuinely better than HSDT.

With the demon hunter one is that you can literally kill the collosal itself and leave the 1/2 on board and they are just 1/2’s who deal 1 damage. Like it really isnr that impressive, C tier id not D tier

Mech mage colossal is a tricky one to evaluate. it doesn't stand on its own but it's a total haymaker if a tempo-oriented mech mage becomes viable. I don't think this is the card that will take mech mage to viability because cards that take decks to the next level happen at the low end of the curve, not the top.

personally i cant stop thinking about the possibility of gigafin and i can see it maybe even being an A or S

Now let me rank them based on how awesome they are in my vallue burgle rouge: Crabatoa is still insane and easily breaks threw boards and gives me extra face dmg. S- tier Blackwater Behemoth can go from underwhelming to the only reason I'm still alive. Still one of my favorites to resummon with Tess or Cantraband stash. And since I face a lot of beast hunters, he is insane when I get my hands on a sunken saber. A-Tier Colaque is just worse then Blackwater and only in few situations better. The shell is to easily dealt with but the 8 armour are always nice tho. He doesn't clear any bordspace and is just really good with another big collosal when playing Tess. C-Tier Glugg is a weird one, has won me games soly on his own, but the +3 can also clogg up my board to fast. How good he performs as a defensive tool is higly depending on the matchup and his beast tag is the biggest sinergy he has. B-Tier Hydraladon is probably the worst one I can wish for. On his own he is easily handled and I often feel underwhelmed when he just deals 6 dmg and then dies. Terrible stats for beeing cheated out and doesn't do anything on top to. D-Tier Nellie is just busted. Nellie with brann or shadowstep can set up leathal, gives me enough pirates to set up Hooktusk, should I discover her (also nice to see Hooktusk as an discover option on her own ship :D) and it really presures the opponent. Shure the battlecry is contraproductive, but most of the times I just win after playing her and when Tessed out it only takes 2 spots with reasonable stats, sure worse then Colaque in that regard but the upside is to good. S-tier The Leviathan is amazing in what he does, just like Rarren said, but on top he's a crazy good pick for tess. A-Tier Xhilag is also terrible, even with buff. Those 4 stocks are just so awkward that I never want to Tess him and I don't really have anything I can do with him, besides attacking. Also he never scaled to a degree that would put my opponent in any danger, and even then, the stalks are just so easy dealt with. D-Tier Gaia is pretty boring but does his job, it gets insane when I get him together with a Leviathan. Also not a bad replay on his own, there are just better ones, also the only mechs I play are the one I burgle or discover. C-Tier Gigafin + Shadowstep is just bonkers, any board based deck will have to deal with a hard removal and 11/11 is a nice stat line for those two parts for Tess. S-tier Ozumat is the one I played the least in my deck, and is a tough one. Thank god he is neutral, else he would be on the very bottom. His stat line is great, especially when I get him out for 1 mana. Sadly most of the time I don't have something to kill him off for the maximum value execution. I don't dislike him, there are just to few things to do with him. C-Tier Neptulon is amazing when dropped on turn 6, a worse Raidboss on turn 10. If this guy isn't dealt with quick enough, he wins me games an takes names. It's such a shame that he's neutral, would he be Tessable then easily S-Tier. But now hear me out. I managed to get one from my Azshara and the next Turn I dredged one Faelin gave me. I already was Scabs so was able to play both. I cleared the handbuff paladins board full of 10/10 with divine shield, and gave him the most awesome leathal with a Neptulon with 4 fists. A-Tier

I missed this expansion, but so far in current expansion, I have never seen most of these colossals in a deck. I find it funny how he say's these are really good and will see play for the next 2 years but seems like no one uses them, and i'm a high elo player lol.

I do think that Gigafin is a REALLY powerful in this meta simply because its a murloc. There are so many murloc cards that can work with Gigafin such as a murloc card that turns the cost of your murloc from mana to health you get big bodies on board, you clear the enemy's board and if you are running it as a murloc warlock deck you can make Gigafin himself really huge due to amount of buffs murlocs have such as the seer and azsharan scavanger and the Chum Bucket. Other then that. Its just meh

I think Colaque is not actually going to be very good against board-centric decks. They can just take out the shell without losing board presence and then ignore the 6/5, all you gain from that trade is absorbing damage for a bit. Where I think Colaque is going to shine is as an absolute control breaker: the 6/5 is a beefy threat that can't be removed or whittled down by taunts, and the only way to deal with it is to first waste 8 damage's worth of removal on the shell. Against spell-centric decks, Colaque requires at least two cards to be answered, sometimes more, and can push a pretty substantial amount of damage if not dealt with quickly

Gaia is literally one of the strongest colossal minions, watch some of Trump/Funki theory craft videos - you can wipe out their board + do heavy hero damage at the same time.

As you noticed yourself, Hydralodon's battlecry doesn't seem to be as strong as people might have anticipated. Even though I don't think the card is bad by any means, it should probably belong somewhere in the B tier. Keep in mind, if you trade the heads in at turn 6/7, you're still left with 5 minions on the board while most likely killing off one or two of your opponents minions. Also, its almost required to clear the minion with a single target spell/trade since flamestriking (or any similar boardclear) is just gonna spawn even more heads. As for Gaia, if mage manages to get a strong mech-mage deck like back in the GvG days, this card is gonna be bonkers. Mech mage never had an issue constantly throwing strong bodies on the board, and you'll most likely play this with at least 1 or 2 other mechs alive, which is basically a free flamestrike while leaving a 5/7 on the board. It might not have the strongest power level on its own, but it too requires very little setup for it to be effective, which will probably make it a very reliable and useful card in a deck such as mech mage.

If you don't think I'm not crafting Gaia the Techtonic and making a mech mage day 1 you're crazy. Nothing's going to stop me shouting "GIGA DRILL BREAKER!!!" when I lethal with this card

I love the idea behind quest warrior and I'v been playin double quest on wild (by either brann or zola), but the 6 mana charge pirate is so unfun shit to play either with or against i truly hope will get nerfed as with nelli it will be absolutely unfun. And with brann in standard I'm gonna play double quest reno control warrior.

Well, I do have to disagree at least with Xhilag and Gaia, I'm not feeling their position on this tier list very much :P With Xhilag, I'm not seeing it survive, or the lil' guys for that matter, for long enough to make an impact (only random 4 damage on first turn), while Gaia deals at least 2 to the entire enemy board and face plus the actual Drill's damage (2 per each) on its first turn. One of these seems better than the other :P Crabatoa seems overrated as well ^^

gaia will be played when u already have a couple of mechs out. this means u get 4 dmg to all enemies plus face dmg and or clearing board. easily low A tier
