Good coverage, thanks. Yes, I would love to see you build and ___"use"__ a Milling machine. Personally I have an itch for one but don't have a long enough back scratcher to get to it yet!!

Thanks so much for covering our ProosaXY project! Small correction: The frame extrusion is *NOT* re-used from the original mk3, but the front frame plate is.

this is exactly what prusa should do to survive. Use as much as they can from stock and upgrade MK4 to MXY4.

@@thePavukNah. You can see the direction they are going. Commercial, hobbyist, consumer. If you’ve seen them at the tradeshow, they’re mostly set up for industrial and manufacturing. they’re really starting to put a big focus on capturing big businesses, science and tech hence opening US facilities. This will be systems like the Delta and the XL core XY system. Next is battling back into consumer. They are going to have to leverage the manufacturing techniques of the Delta printer like metal, stamping and injection molding, etc.. this is going to have to be the machine that fits in nicely on your kitchen counter or workshop table with the standard cube design with multi material, but obviously this is speculation. Finally hobbyists. Everybody thought that the MK3 was the pinnacle and there was just nothing you could do to really make it much better but as we see input shaping change all of that. Add some faster, motors, etc. and you have a great enthusiast even manufacturing machine. I think they go on to keep supporting that system and possibly even do something like getting involved in the voron project or more likely scaling down what they’ve done with the XL for enthusiasts. All pretty fun speculation, but they’ve definitely started making a big push into manufacturing and industrial where bamboo and reality and others will probably never be able to get a foothold just because everything is manufactured overseas, which is a big no-no for certain things.

Did you see Wham Bam's fire extinguishing system for FDM printers called The Cloud? Great idea. Discussed it with Wham Bam's owner at the Rocky Mtn Rep Rap Festival. A much needed safety idea for protecting your house / building. He told me about all of the testing they did before releasing the product, and I was impressed. Like their other products, they did put a lot of work into the development.

Since I got my X1 Carbon I don't use my MKIIIs as much, I don't do much tinkering with my printers now either, I have to get this Proosa mod!

Love the Proosa. Interested to see how the kit's price compares to a full MK3 to MK4 upgrade, which discards a lot of MK3 parts - it looks like the Proosa kit/upgrade probably reuses more parts and possibly provides some more/different benefits, being a core-xy. With the "full bear" frame upgrade, Klipper, and a home-rolled extruder, my MK3S+ runs faster and quieter and than an MK4. There are limits to Cartesian kinematics, though, and it seems like this is a promising and minimally wasteful upgrade/up-cycling path for the MK3 for people who want something a bit more modern than the MK3 platform, but don't want a Bambu or Bambu clone for reasons

I dont think there is much of a reason to do the FULL mk4 upgrade path, but that is my opinion. For only a couple hundred more you get a second printer!

That proosaxy tool head is cool. I like the orbiter on it and the rear mounted cooling. Is that a pre-existing design or something he developed as well? I’d love to slap on my MK3.5!

@@3DMusketeers yeah I was looking at the 3-D model of it. Seems pretty interesting, but I think I could probably work my own design that shoots the air from behind. I’m one of those guys that just sits there with my face in my printer watching for a half an hour it squirts plastic. It’s still a magical process to me.

I'll put in a vote for a V-Core 4 build...I'm trying to get management at work to buy something to replace our dead Stacker3D machine, and either the base V-Core 4 or the IDEX version would help us with a bunch of different things. The biggest thing holding me back from making an honest recommendation for it is the build time/complexity - if it's as involved as a Voron build, it won't work for us. The other front-runner is an FLSun S1, which even if it prints half as fast as FLSun claims is still going a ludicrous 600 mm/s.

Ooooh. I like the proosa. However, I just upgraded it to 3.5. It’s so fast and such good money spent. Maybe I’ll look on eBay for a used one to try this conversion.

@@3DMusketeers yeah, I’m pretty happy with it. I’m ready to upgrade the tool head though. I pieced it together on the Prusa website and it comes to about 200 bucks and I think I could do so much better than a nextruder for less money. Plus, I’m one of those types that enjoys the project probably a little more than the actual printer. I just like having something to tinker and build.

@@3DMusketeers i’m reading the stats and they still seems like there might be some benefits. But with the newer computer, it’s pointless like you said. I do like the footprint being much smaller.
