@@MetranomixIt’s already been known that the next BP game is a new IP. That could itself be a red herring but I choose not to go ultra schzio on figuring out if that’s really what’s happening. But a 60 FPS version of BB should be easy for any code monkey to plop out. Which is why I’m sure there’s something happening. They probably don’t want the boosted version of BB to eat into the sales of whatever they may have cooking. We’re going on almost 9 years since its release. If we don’t hear anything by it’s 10th anniversary it’s probably over lol

The reason why he says he's not at liberty to talk about it is because the IP belongs to Sony and he is not part of Sony. So whatever they decide to do with it, he has neither influence in nor knowledge of. He's not withholding information or speaking double speak, he just says it's not his place to talk about it because...well, it just isn't. I want Bloodborne on PC as much as any other fan but this is just pure speculation over absolutely nothing.

And it's safe to assume that he can't say he "wants to see a PC port" because of some sort of non-competition type of contract. I can imagine that people at Sony would see it as rooting for the other team (Microsoft/Steam), which would be frowned upon. Given how much people have asked about Bloodborne ports and remasters, I'm sure his team has asked Sony about it more than once. His response to me is very clear that it's not happening.

@JoeSakana I thought the remake was good. The whole reason Bluepoint was chosen to do that remake was based on their history with remaking great games like Shadows of the Colleusus for example. Although I'm doubting BP will be the ones to remake BB at least anytime soon because last I heard they were working on a new IP for the first time and not remakes.

@@Ocean5ix It's widely considered to be a good product, but a bad remake since they ignored Miyazaki's vision for the atmosphere of the game (eg they release their references and it contained 0 artwork from the original and a lot from Doom and Diablo lol). Ratatoskr has a good video on it. The remake is something most people will enjoy but is straight up disrespectful to the original.

Hope & Cope I agree though, especially since it's a translation, those sentences may seem completely un-weird in japanese. A better reason to expect a sequel is just how valuable the IP is. It would be a horrible business decision to not use it at some point to force console sales. Maybe ps5 pro, if any game can tank a framerate hard enough to get someone to upgrade a console, it would be bloodborne 2.

My guess is based off of the rumors is that Bloodborne is getting a remake for the PS6 and Sony wants it as a launch title exclusive on console, 1-2 years later on PC. That would explain the trouble around a PC release.

Theory about the "queens bed chamber": there is 6 drapes above the bed. I think they represent the veil attached to the 6 divine tower that cover the shadow realm (if the shadow realm is in the center of the lands between).

I think the lack of anything with Bloodborne has more to do with the fact that FROMSOFTWARE's co-developer on Bloodborne, SIE Japan Studio, was shutdown years ago, the rumor that Sony lost the source code and doesn't know how to reverse-engineer it, or both.

The frustrating thing is, there's no way to prove it, all evidences of it doesn't exist anymore if it were the case that JP studio was involved, since they were shut down. And Miyazaki's words here were misinterpreted in the video imo, he's just stating that he can't say much about an IP that they don't own, even if they made it years ago. Sony is a terrible company for sure.

The word "remake" was never used once but Rata kept saying it. There is literally nothing in the actual interview that suggests they want a remake, Rata just says that they specifically want a "remake" right after reading an interview in which Miyazaki says, "I know these guys want a PC port" and never brings up a remake at all.

He does specifically say remastered PC port but it's unlikely they'd release a PC port without remastering it.

Miyazaki is a true visionary and genius, and in my opinion the most creative designer working today. So naturally someone like him would not waste his time with remasters. But if someone were to ask me what IP i would want From Software and more importantly Miyazaki to revist, it would definitely be Bloodborne.

Even if Miyazaki didn’t direct the sequel but it was made by his team I think they can pull as beautiful as Miyazaki would do because he stated they are experienced and when he couldn’t work on games like Elden the team would work autonomously, he said it himself since it’s a sequel they have already have a image of Bloodborne and design they could inspire

I disagree with your interpretation of the first interview response. It sounds to me like he's saying just what he is saying: FromSoftware does not own the Bloodborne IP, and whether it gets remastered or remade is not up to them. Furthermore, FromSoftware would not have anything to do with it. Sony would hire another company like BluePoint to do it. Asking FromSoftware about a Bloodborne remake is akin to asking BluePoint about a Sekiro sequel; it's not up to them and they wouldn't have anything to do with it if it happens.

What I heard is I'm going to have to hang onto my Bloodborne box (PS4) til the day I die. Though really, I think that fans have cracked and ported significant chunks of the game already and that a fan port is in the works somewhere. I'd expect Bloodborne on PC from fans before I'd ever expect it from Sony.

I think you're overanalyzing. Miyazaki is not the owner of Bloodborne so he cannot say something is in the works or that something is not in the works, as both sentences tell players somethig, which Sony might have problems with (if they decide otherwise). Him saying he'd get into trouble for saying something doesn't have to mean Bloodborne 2/remake is in the works, it's just that Sony didn't confirm any decision on the topic and they want to keep it that way.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on being happy to play a Bluepoint remake. Demon's Souls gets a pass because it's the oldest one, stuck on the PS3 with not many people having played it. But remaking Bloodborne feels like rewriting the sacred texts. It's already perfect, just give it 60fps, better antialiasing, upscale some textures and it's good for another 10-15 years.

Why would he want a Bluepoint remake after the DS one was such a downgrade? I think a Bluepoint remake is a potential worst-case scenario, because then the original game gets abandoned and we are potentially stuck with a comprised remake made by a different team who already has shown to have no respect for Fromsoft's creative vision.

But as I said, I suppose a simple difference in opinion. Personally I believe that they took practically a dead game and remade it in a way that newer fans can play it and enjoy it on newer gen hardware.

Regardless, if you have any respect for video games as an artform, you should want a port over a remake if we can't have both. Regardless of your personal feelings on the DS remake. Also, going off of reviews is a meme. You should watch Rata's video on the remake if you think the problem was "one slightly worse design on an officer enemy" because there were a lot more issues than just the fat official.

@@theredcomet5670I’m not a demons souls elitist, I never played the original and while cognizant of the things people were upset about I wouldn’t say it affected me personally when I played the remake. That being said, it was clear from the moment I started that there was little to no care put into art direction. The soulless ui, the title screen text with a bunch of particle effects on it, the intro cinematic that has jarring lighting (the intro is serious dogshit it looks worse than pre renders I’ve seen on ps2). Everything about it just feels more like a tech demo, the motivation for any visual element is so shallow that it sometimes makes the game look bad. Yeah it’s a video game, but people seem to look for artistic merit in souls games so that’s why people shit on the remake

Totally agree. I'd be so disappointed if BB2 were to be made by another developer. The only other one that might do it justice is Neowiz/Round8 Studio. With how well they pulled off Lies of P, given more resources I could see them doing a good BB sequel. But I doubt that'd happen since they're a South Korean developer and Sony would most likely give it to another Japanese studio, or their own subsidiary Bluepoint Games.

I find it strange that it hasn't gotten a PS5 patch, so much so that I suspect it will be released as a remake or remaster for a future console. Sony usually don't bother with ports unless they have a sequel in that franchise on its way to consoles (or HBO), so I don't expect DeS or Bloodborne on PC anytime soon sadly, but the strict no patch policy is suspicious

Best case for me is that fromsoft work on bloodborne 2 with Miyazaki as director with bluepoint as supervisor for how their in house engine work but still really sad that japan studio closed. they helped with development and pitched the idea of bloodborne to fromsoft and people dont give them credit for that

Yes, more of the Shadow Hearts Covenant music for the background! This is awesome!!!! Town of twighlight (track 1), death is the great leveler (track 2) AND battle with the fallen angel (track 3)! I know the fourth one, but the name eludes me right now… Update: I looked it up. The fourth is called Suffocation, I think.

Tbh assuming there is something bloodborne related happening I'd assume it would be a console exclusive sequel. These mega corps want to maximize profit by selling lots of expensive hardware and lock people in to their console so your more likely to pay them even more for other stuff.

nah dont, the game really isnt worth buying a whole console for, as much as i love it. youll effectively pay 100s of dollars + the cost of bb and the dlc just to own a bloodborne machine that will basically just collect dust till u wana play bb again.

You are misrepresenting and failing to differentiate the topics. Miyazaki replied to the question about a PC port, not a remake or a sequel. The guys at FromSoft want a PC port. That is what they said. Nothing about remaster, remake or sequel. And when he says "I'm not at liberty to speak" it is not because it's in the works, he literally said "we don't own the IP" so he can't say what could or should happen to the IP, it is not his.
