I’m not gonna lie, I get a little annoyed when people say that characters like Reptile and Ermac should only look like Ninjas. There were ten male Ninjas in MK Trilogy, and they all looked the same except for color. I don’t feel like we need that many Ninjas in MK. Also a character’s design shows personality and traits better, like Rain’s design in this game and MKX shows that he’s royalty. Ermac acts nothing like a Ninja in the later games any ways.

I think he needs to learn what aerodynamic means.

I actually really like Smoke having flowing hair, but PS3 limitations make the hair look a little weird in gameplay.

If they ever remade 9, they should keep the colorful style to homage the connection to the past games. Keep the costumes, but re-scale their limbs and redesign their faces so they look much better.

I feel MK9 perfected the design of mostly all of the characters in the this roster. Truest return to form game in the series. MK9 will always be my modern favorite and UMK3 is my classic fav.

Nightwolf's MK3 design is his best. He also plays the best in that game. Love the character, but he really needs some love. Hopefully he'll get into MK11 as DLC with some improvements.

Well nightwolf IS supposed to be "The Native" guy. That's why he's so cool. He was nothing more in the story than a peaceful, faithful servant of the spirits, helping people without ulterior motives. That's him.

_Mortal Kombat 9_ easily has overall the best designs in the entire franchise.

For the record, and I haven't read further below if anyone else has said this, Kabal was a "good guy" in MK3/UMK3, fighting on the side of Earth Realm's defense. He's basically the Black Dragon member who went the opposite route of Kano, pissed off that he got targeted by Shao Kahn's extermination squads and signed on with Raiden without even reading the contract lol. He was originally an anti-hero, they just gave him more backstory in MK9. Loving all your coverage by the way for Mortal Kombat leading up to MK11 release, new sub. :)

Stryker looks great in this game but I adore his Armageddon costumes - so futuristic and just cool. Ermac and Mileena looked the best in Deception/Armageddon. Same with Sonya's Deadly Alliance costumes

Ignoring post MKX, with generic military girls and power ranger suits MK ALWAYS had bikini girls. MK 1 Sonya in karata cloths and a external fundoshi and MK 2 had female ninja's in woman in one piece and so on. If its not your thing then its fine, but don't say MK never had skimpy outfits or blame it on 3D era.

Scorpions MK9 costume may be a little on the nose and overdesigned but its also so damn iconic. Its definitely the first thing that comes to mind still when I think of scorp. Also I love smokes hair. It was the main thing that set his design apart from other ninjas.

Maybe I'm just braindead, but I think Stryker was really awesome in this game and had the potential to become a Chris Redfield-esque supercop if he wasn't instakilled by screaming skunk hair along with most of the roster.

I think the skimpy costumes are actually pretty unique to this game. The 3d era costumes weren't as showy as this game is unless you use specific alt costumes.

There's alot of alt costumes that they did notice that they were homage to some of the older games. For example Mileena's alt was a MK Deception & MK Shaolin Monks reference.

Sub Zero is a 10/10 in this game. The best he has ever looked.
