Today we are building a mini street racer quad with a CR 125 two stroke dirt bike engine. the dirt bike engine makes around 36HP so this thing is going to be FAST! its definitely going to need a wheelie bar and some good brakes. I'm taking inspiration from an old project called the mini green atv that I built years ago. I want this mini street quad to be similar to it but much faster!

I got a universal steering dampner, was cheapish like 20 bucks, and fitted it to my mini quad that also has motor swap and no suspension. mine is a predator motor lol... but it still is VERY sketchy without front* suspension and the short wheel base and distance we have. so be VERY cautious when u bring it to the street, I would wear full leathers, even if you are going like 30mph cause its easy to swerve, and get thrown off ballance cause the center of gravity is so high

Having the correct caster angle and toe with a rather wide steering lever (wide handle bars) it should be pretty "stable" handling wise, the lever arm lengths on the steer tube and knuckles come into play aswell. Edit... But yes, definitely leather up testing homemade toys.

It's amazing how this kind of a "simpler" project highlights not just this guys fabrication skills, but also highlights how ambitious the bigger builds are. I would think that this "simple" project would take me a full year to complete 😆 Also this is just an insanely great build!!!

It would only take you a year to complete the FIRST time. That is why he can seemingly slap things together with little effort...making him appear as an expert fabricator. The truth is that he's made more mistakes than you have made attempts. Learning from the mistakes is what has got him to his current skill level. Get out to your shed and go make some mistakes! OK...2 things...6:24 when you drill through the tubing to mount something in this way, you should weld some thin wall tubing into the holes to stop the bolts from constantly trying to crush the tube and vibrating loose all of the time. And second...this thing is prime for a suicide shifter setup!

6:27 Probably better to weld some bushes into the frame where the bolts go through, these bolts will always come loose and everytime they do they flatten and damage the square tube frame a bit more. Nyloc nuts will work to prevent the nut to fall off but you still end up with the parts being loose as the tubing will get oval shaped over time. Drill out the holes and weld some bushes on both ends into the frame, that way you can tighten the bolts and they will stay tight.

Suggestion for your foot pads: when you go to paint it, just add some sand on top of the mesh and let the paint 'glue' it to the mesh. A strong epoxy would be even better of course... I have seen people bond heavy wet-dry sandpaper to steps, but since yours is a mesh and not a solid plate, that might not work out the way you would want it to.

You could do that, but I'd rather just see some standard dirt bike or quad foot pegs mounted just above the mesh. You still get the same cool look, but with something that's useful for control. Make your shifter at a 90 degree axis! Set up a pivot point about near your ankle or the arch of your foot so you can tap your toe or heel sideways to shift and that will take up less space while making it less of a hassle to reach it. From there, just put like a couple of hime joints on the linkage to the transmission so that the linkage does not bind, and you should be good to go.
