I still managed to play far cry... Yeah Also.. I play Halo, cod1, ac1,nfs:ug, NFS:ug2, tim Clancy's Ghost recon, fallout, league of legends, final fantasy IV, Prince of Persia 1, pop2, age of empire, aoe2, aoe3, age of mythology, aom:the titans, medal of Honor, delta force, igi, igi2, nfs: most wanted (2005) spiderman 1, spiderman 2, counter sticke source, half life, battlefield 1942(online), assaultcube, 0ad, hitman1, hitman blood money, himan: silent Assassin, max payne1, max Payne 2, godfather, mafia1, delta force 2, delta force 3, manhunt, gta vc online, total overdose1, San Andreas online, and many more... (I'm forgetting some as I had to delete them due to low storage (160gb) 🙂

yea sure cool specs but we upgraded our windows XP to have 3GB of ram this computer not only has a 64 bit processor and an NVIDIA graphics card but it also doubles as a TV VCR and dvd player all in one and comes with a 7.1 surround sound

Back when I had 16GB of DDR4 playing Rust, I would run out and the game would have massive frame drops. Now with 32GB DDR5, no problems at all, smooth gameplay. It always depends on the game and settings.

No clue what 16GBs you guys are using, but that's enough for me to juggle a million opera tabs, a vstudio console, wall paper engine and something like dragons dogma 2. Though I do optimise the crap outta my programmes and squish windows 11's greedy ass. So maybe it's a matter of luck and elbow grease?

16gb has become the industry standard instead of industry premium. Luckily though, ram isn't very expensive and 16gb ddr4 is still perfectly adequate for the majority of games.

I mean it really depends on what you are playing. The thing is, people get caught up in hardware details, thinking EVERY single person is unhappy if they can't play the newest AAA games at 200FPS/4k. I just dumped 80-90hrs into Fallout NV and that will run on the lowest specs. 40hrs into Disco Elysium on a laptop from 2012.

8 gigs in enough for office work (ms paint, excell, word, access, 3d mark. etc) cus its enought to have windows 10 ,16 gigs is for personal/normal pc ,cuz its enough for most of games ,production ,tasks. ,32 gigs is for 3d making/modeling, and heavy tasks like 4k video montages , sorce film making ,and its enough for gta 6 ,and anything beyond 32 is for future proofing

Well depending on what you do 128GB of system RAM might be needed. For most consumer 32GB is never even used. Some use more than 32GB but that is due to how windows works not actually needing more than 32GB. For 128GB i can only think of workstation and small server workloads for why that would be used.

I have 16GB of DDR3 and an FX6300. Still running strong almost 10 years later. I'm about to upgrade and 32GB is the minimum imo.

@@jzuo2901 It's old but it still works and is as cheap as chips at the moment. :) For its cost/effectiveness, maxed out DDR3 will last another year or two IMHO, and given that it's like $22.00 for 2 x 8GB sticks at 1600mhz, maxing out a system is easy. :D

With RAM the general rule is 'get more than you think you need'. It isn't going to hurt anything, and you'll miss it if it turns out you thought you needed less than you did. Yes, I'm aware of bandwidth restrictions on most CPUs from populating 4 slots instead of 2. They are pretty much irrelevant in 99% of scenarios, so long as the rest of your system is up to par.

Different size or spec RAM is not recommended for gaming, unless you're familiar with overclocking and can make sure it is worth it. Although in that case you will probably choose not to do it anyways. Best of all is to sell and buy different ram - 2 sticks, same size, same batch. For DDR5 it is preferred to have 2x16GB or larger, as 2x8 is usually not truly a DDR5 spec. Usually it means that bandwidth is cut in half and unless you have a very slow CPU, it's just not worth saving about 15 dollars compared to 2x8GB insteaad of getting 2x16GB
