Snake is a predator so to get that size he must have been eating a bunch of rodent size critters . Keeping it alive and in its environment is a good thing. Predators tend to self regulate to their food sources . I am glad that you didnt kill it for the sake of killing it. Snake in operator cab or near small children is a entirely different subject.
