Hey man just a friendly warning from someone who has done exactly what you're doing... thinking I'm being very conservative with leverage and timing oversold/overbought conditions and taking profits early. It's a winning strategy, until it isn't. It's easy to get comfortable and dare I say cocky because like you've seen... It works. But then like any good drug you start to play with larger dollar amounts. And that's when these shady leverage exchanges will work against you and you will get "rekt" as we say. When you take a long/short and set a stop loss the exchange SELLS that info I'm real time to other automated services that hunt for those stop losses/liquidations. So it is a bit like playing conservative blackjack, only the house knows what cards are in your hand. Be careful out there man. Best of luck.

Regarding the topic of the the Bitcoin ETF and price going up - The idea is that people that would otherwise never buy Bitcoin directly will be doing so, via their retirement accounts. In this case, their portfolio manager would allocate anywhere from 1-5% of the person's retirement account into BTC, via one of the ETFs. The math for this in the U.S. will send the price to multiple six figures.... But it's more of a multiple year play, IMO.

Dude Trading is a Very serious business! And takes Years to master! And if you don't put in the required time and commitment, the market will chew you up and spit you out!

Lewis, you are correct, the BTC ETF is created from pre-purchased BTC which is now owned and held in Blackrock's name. Meaning, Blackrock buys BTC, stores it in its name, and then creates an ETF Fund (pre-approved by the SEC). Blackrock is now the ETF issuer. The investor then buys "shares" of the ETF fund that was created and is owned/managed by Blackrock. So if the price of BTC goes up or down the ETF Fund makes or loses money accordingly. **The bottom line, an investor buying the shares in the BTC ETF doesn't make a hill-of-beans difference in the market price of the BTC on exchanges.

Best advice for most is don't play with leverage!

Going short on a trade works like this.Lets say new iphone comes out,it costs 1000$ and you believe that the price will go down eventually to 800$.You borrow a new iphone in order to sell it for 1000$.When (and if ) the price drops to 800$ you buy a new iphone to give it back to whomever you bought it from.This way you just made 200$ in profit.(its a crude example,i know,but i hope it helps)

One consideration for those of us in the US is the use of ROTH retirement accounts. 100% of the capital gains are tax free. Not quite as good are traditional IRA accounts, as you ultimately are taxed when funds are withdrawn; and who knows what the tax rate will be.

Just like the trading of paper gold & silver contracts including the various silver and gold ETFs, it allows for control (manipulate) of the physical asset price, and this could apply to any crypto ETF. Bitcoin was always viewed as a threat to Wall Street/banks, so what better way to neutralise the potential threat.🤔 if I held BTC I wouldn't be particularly excited about the ETF. In regard to an XRP ETF, XRP has the utility factor that BTC does not. That may have a different effect?🤔

Hey Lewis, I think your view on XRP is spot on and something my brother and I have been mulling over. Our thoughts were $11 for XRP in this bull run would see us sell at least 50-75% because the ETF punt could diminish the demand for direct sales of XRP. I didn't know how the ETF would impact things but it seems that it isn't going to instigate the upturn in value we expected for Bitcoin and will be similar for XRP. I actually don't like the idea of an ETF for XRP but who listens to us HODL'ers?

Lew, you sort of have it with the ETFs. But as the 1000's of Investment Managers start converting their customer's retirement accounts into the ETF, "Blackrock" has to buy more bitcoin. That creates more BUY pressure which raises the price. Since they need to hold the physical Bitcoin, they will not sell it, so there is no threat of SELL pressure to bring the price down again. The price of Bitcoin is going down currently because Greyscale customers (the largest holder of Bitcoin in the world) are selling. This will end eventually when the discount no longer makes sense. Then we are back to basic Supply and Demand. The ETF creates DEMAND which is good, but it will take a while before the supply crunch hits. The Halving is coming!!!!!

Im not expecting it to be in 2,3 or 4 digits asap. The only thing that is always on mind is the glitches of xrp & how it's always a high figure. Would this contribute to anything regarding it in the future tho? & why only this is happening to only xrp. There is more to it, like ethgate & so called creator's of bitcoin, i believe that people are going to get a surprise of utility crypto's come this year & next year.

People assumed price of BTC would go up with the ETF because they thought these institutions didn’t already purchase the BTC for said ETFs. Not only that but also most of these purchases are more likely being done OTC outside of the retail markets

With an ETF, the institution has to hold the underlying asset for the dollar value that they sell shares for to their customers. If enough customers come in, the institution will have to buy more to offset the shares. More underlying assets locked up and not in circulation.

To be honest I don‘t think that we will see another bullrun after this one for a while, especially not for xrp if they start using it by this year or in 2025 already. Jeremy allaire from circle said tokenization will begin already in 2024, if thats the case and they start using xrp it‘s endgame than it will go up and never stop😂 also ripple stated 2024 we will see utility so I wonder what they mean with that🤔

A stop loss doesn`t guarantee your order will get processed, the price could be dropping so fast there`s not enough buyers to by your trade off you.

I think that what you're trying to convey is, that when XRP hits 8 USD, let's say, how much do you sell off into USDC, and wait for the drop, so that you can buy in again, at the lower price? Do you sell 50 percent, or perhaps all? The danger with selling all, is that if UTILITY suddenly kicks in, and XRP switches "over night" to 100 USD, you'll have made the biggest mistake of your life...! I think that personally, selling 50 percent would be enough... But I don't know if I could keep my cool in such a situation. It certainly is a complex question.
