Man that 405 is a beast! I was shocked to see that log get bound up on the knife. It must have had a big knot on that end of the log it didn’t like. Great stuff Joe. Greetings from SE Michigan.

You can gripe about the smell all you want but I don't think there is any firewood nicer looking than straight grained Oak when split!👍 It looked like some debris has stuck on the knife and might have been part of the issue with the piece that didn't want to split. Have a Happy Easter, Joe n Family!

Concerning your U-Haul video: I assume your friend "Kyle Crawford" (MK High Country Firewood) delivers bundles on pallets...from a trailer or a cube truck? His opinion of the Pros & Cons would be valuable to you. Hand piling bundles onto pallets, and then using your tractor fork lift to load the pallets into your U-Haul Box truck, is automating a tedious process. Then, hand transferring bundles from a pallet onto a 2 wheeled hand truck, and then rolling it down a U-Haul ramp sounds like a good (easy) way to unload your box truck. Lots of people love those U-Haul box trucks for easily moving your items with the least amount of work. Backing a box truck should be easier than backing a trailer. I like this idea!
@ohiowoodburner
@ohiowoodburner 2 ай бұрын
Thanks Gary. You and me seem to realize that trailers can be a super pain especially in tight areas. I think the box truck is a good idea especially since many of the commercial accounts have fork lifts to remove the pallet from the truck
@garylaszewski7380
@garylaszewski7380 2 ай бұрын
I like that you think "outside the box"😊. A client having their own forklift should "lift your spirits" 😊 and eliminate an extra touch of the bundles.

Great video, I love how your 405 works. I’ve been watching other videos on the box wedge style splitters & your multiple wedge processor doesn’t seem to generate as much waste. Maybe because your knives are thinner. Keep them coming & Have A Great Day.👍👍👍 Happy Easter to you & your family.

Have you seen the new Split-Fire vertical splitter that was just released? It is reported to have a 3.5 second cycle time, has options for electrical motor, log lift and extra work table. That might be an option for the splitter market area between commercial splitter and box store/homeowner splitter.

Just a thought , add another 8 to 12" board on the sides of the trailer. Could have a few more logs in front of your log deck and in your grapple. Maybe fill both trailers. Everyone has their on way of doing things but it seems you just get the machine warmed up and you're done.
