Such kind of houses bring nostalgia especially for some of us who feel we are urbanized. Natural/traditional setting and freedom of interaction. Urbanization is good but we miss the olden life of calmness. Amazing video and tour. Cover the uncovered without giving up.

Thank you for listening, you are the best🌸🏵️. I liked the village live, trees, friendly people. Only I did not like the dirt. I questioned is there a garbage company in Watamu? There is a opportunity otherwise to invest. Because of plastic etc everywhere. This is very bad for the surroundings and nature and mental state of people and tourism! Local Guides, can make money doing tours true there villages and shops, school, food and drinks tasting and local music. But tourists like cleanness especially in nature eco village style. I hope the villagers and chiefs will come together to clean every month/week together as initiative. And create a garbage place somewhere far from the people ( or create plastic pavements to walk on win win situation)! 🖤

Thank you for this video, reminds me on how I fell in love with Watamu at the first sight. Watamu is really magical! People from this place wako na heshima sana na upole, usalama, the feeling of you’re not in Kenya especially kama you are from Nairobi Metropolitan district. I was really shocked when I visited my friend there, we’ve worked together for over 5 years. First time visiting, we are now neighbors 🙌🏼. I fell in love with this place. Any Kenyan who’s able to travel for tourism abroad should visit Watamu to see for themselves. The place is out of this world. #TembeaKenya

☺ for beach lovers adapting to local living ..when someone in a coastal village asks you "dzalamkadze,?" you're supposed to reply "dzalamka" with a backup response of "humanyawe?" 😁 then they or he or she will then tell you "ndowvidzo!" Greeting the elders with "shikamoo" for swahili speakers. Love the original video. Thanks for the vlog!

The town is basically a slum. Liked the homesteads.....simple uncomplicated life. The poverty though...very 😥

I will visit Watamu in January. This is the type of thing I was hoping to find - what life is like away from the beaches and resorts! I hope I will find a guide to take me to these villages! Can you also find traditional food to buy/eat there?

One thing is obvious. Devolution has not brought and development to the villages in kenya. Devolution stopped at the county HQ where the governor and his cohorts enjoy the spoils of devolution leaving nothing for the people below. This is why its essential to start a Ward fund, where money goes to where people live. Like 60% of what the counties receive from the national govt goes to the ward and villages and let the people decide what they want, and let the governors figure out how they will spend 40%. May be they will not have enough money to steal.
