@@tobeconnelly2944 You delete the car, keep the stupid emissions stuff to put back on for testing. Load up stock tune then reverse it all after the test.

Yeah so first things first is coilovers, even on stock wheels it will change the look of the car so much better and also will drive much better. Coilovers is what I did first, then engine wise a stage 2 tune recommends a cold air intake, do that with a stage 2 tune from Malone or Kerma and if you have a dsg transmission like mine then you will need to tune the dsg if you have a manual then most likely you will need an upgraded clutch. And of course the full 3'' exhaust with the dpf delete, I got mine from Rawtek very high quality definitely recommend them.

Do it!! Well worth it. Plus it’s bad for the newer TDI’s to have the dpf and egr on them. Major performance decreases with those still on

I measured it it is 95 decibels, so if your neighbors are close enough then yes lol. The spool noise is much louder than the engine noise but still it’s def loud on a cold start

@@megabomberB yep the glo plug light flashes because there is no more dpf filter so the car doesn’t sense it. This is with just the Rawtek straight pipe on from the turbo back, not tuned yet. But I will have a video out soon with the stage 2 because I just tuned it yesterday lol. And yes I have the k&n typhoon intake it is totally worth the money looks great and makes the turbo much louder. Also I recommend having it if you are getting the exhaust and tune

Yes, you can cut the cat out and weld in some pipe and it should work fine. No need to spend 5k for a new one at the dealer. I did this at first but my DPF wounded up getting clogged after. And yes, the best solution instead of the dealership, is to get this Rawtek exhaust and either do it yourself (which you will likely need to drop the sub-frame to do it, a lift is 100% needed, I tried but could not do it on jack stands), or pay someone else a few hundred bucks to do it. Then get your car tuned (which is easier if you have them install the exhaust and tune the car in the same shop). Mine had a clogged DPF right before I took it in. Seriously so much more worth it than scrapping the car over it or taking it to the dealer to get ripped off. I guess you could also get a re manufactured DPF, but still costs almost as much as the rawtek exhaust. Exhaust+Tune+Installation cost me about $3000 vs paying $10,000 at a dealer for a new DPF/EGR or $2500+labor for a remade DPF, or $5,000 for a new cat.

Anything turbocharged you want as little back pressure after the turbo as possible. Now a resonator style muffler can actually help speed up exhaust velocity which can aid in performance.

I did not have any issues with backpressure, the only thing you have to do when you delete the dpf/egr is get it tuned.

Yep they still drive just fine but it is recommended the sooner you get the tune the better

Because at that point I had the dpf deleted. Before the dpf was deleted, the glow plug light would come on and put the car into limp mode until you turned it off and back on again. But once you do the delete the glow plug light will stay on until you get it tuned without going into limp mode

@@tirefryers I am getting the same problem with mine where on high boost it goes into limp mode and will go back to normal once you turn the car off and on again, do you reckon its the dpf at fault?

@@turnickup most likely, that dpf system really limits the car when it’s acting up. That’s why you need to tune it right after you do the delete because the ecu thinks the dpf is malfunctioning when it’s actually just deleted and the tune fixes that.

At 70 it starts to drone a little but once you get at about 75 or 80 it’s good. And the little bit it does at 70 is not loud at all. Once you go over 85 and hit it it does the real loud rasp which is fun lol

They make a exhaust with a resonater. But 3" itselfe increases the resonance. I have 2.5" turbo back with a resonater (glass pack) it's louder than stock,but is nice on hwy. I too drive lots

I did too, but I figured why not try it out and I found that it doesn’t. As least for 2 or 3 weeks of daily driving it was fine, to my surprise

I did research on KZfaq and forums and found that Rawtek was the best exhaust for the mk6 tdi but for the mk5 it may be different or it may not you just have to do some research on your car and see what other people have done. It also helps to know someone who knows how to install it for a good price.

Yeah mine sounds a little raspier too and it’s a straight pipe with no resonator. I kinda like it that way though it’s fun.

These suffer from oil in the intercooler from the ccv and EGR. So it's not uncommon. But it was soot

@@Cristian121212100 no it never went into limp mode with the delete before I got it tuned, I drove it like that for a few weeks just fine. There really wasn’t much smoke either. Only when you rev it, there was never any visible in the mirror while driving

Nope no resonator, cat, muffler, or anything lol. Fully straight piped. Highway noise was not bad at all, being a newer car the sound deadening takes a lot of the drone out.

Not sure if you had any work to your car but I would recommend timing service , belts service, water pump, rollers assembly and flywheel conversion with you deleting your car, vw are not very reliable after 100k-130k miles for an heads up

I've been running this exhaust with malone stage 2 for 40k miles now, no regrets! Great video btw i stumbled across it after looking for videos on turbo upgrades lmao

@@tirefryers I beg to differ... No tune = less fuel/air going into your engine = quieter exhaust. Also with a tune your peak torque will be at about 2700-3100 rpm where the exhaust gets really really loud. At least that's the case in mine that has a 6-speed manual instead of the DSG, same exhaust kit, malone tune.

@@Youngthunder7 I beg to differ on that, I installed the exhaust on the car first then tuned it at a later date, after tuning it there was not much sound difference. Maybe a little under load but nothing too noticeable. Only thing noticeable was the higher torque.

A lot of people say that these cars will not run good at all without a tune when you do the deletes, but when I had the deletes done on my car it drove totally fine with no tune. I would do the deletes first then the tune.

@@tirefryers intake manifold has to do with your engine and has nothing to do with your 6th gear, the DSGs have slightly different gearing than the 6MT, I have the same car with a 6MT and I sit at about 2100 rpm at 80 mph. I have driven a MK6 Golf TDI w/ DSG and it also sits at about 2100-2200 rpm at 80, chances are in the vid you were in 5th gear not 6th, as it usually sits at that rpm in 5th.

Oh no it would be much quieter without the delete. The dpf filter is a monstrosity of a suitcase that is very tightly packed behind the turbo it makes it a whole lot quieter. Plus I picked up a lot more mpg with the delete

@@tirefryers Thanks for the response. I've been wanting to switch it up a bit with my Passat but we go on long road trips with it and I don't want to have to experience a droning sound on the highway for three hours at a time with it.

I have the same car with a manual, same exhaust and a malone tune. Your answer: YES IT DID. Went from about 45 mpg at best going 60 mph with CC locked, to getting up to 57 mpg in the right conditions. City driving went from 29-36 mpg (I also had a clogged DPF when it was going down to 29 mpg) to getting 40-45 mpg avg city, even if I floor it and rip it a few times, it's very forgiving on the fuel economy. I can do a full pull 0-80 going to red line through 4th gear and my mpg will go down by 0.3 mpg at most (given I have a couple hundred miles on the tank already)

Because this was prior to it being tuned, with the dpf deleted it was flashing. The tune turns that off

like a 5 or a 6 tbh man, I own the same car here w/ the same exhaust. It's only pretty loud when you rip it from 2,700 - 3,300 rpm, beyond 3,300 it quiets down a little, for some reason (probably due to the peak torque), it makes this loud ripping growl right at that 3,100 rpm sweet spot. Especially in 4th/5th gear. Oh my. Videos do not do it justice and experiencing it in person is the best man.

Well. It's a computer controlled manual. The trans is physically manual. Has shift forks. Has 2 sets of independent clutches between the motor and trans. It's not even close to a torque converter trans. 6 speed dsg (dual shift gearbox)

The things that make the biggest carbon footprint are factories and forest fires and stuff like that. Deleting your car isn’t gonna make the earth crumble lol

The soot isn't nearly as bad as a gasser. And believe it or not in motorcycle pollutes more than a car

Probably not as bad as mining for a Tesla battery that will likely need scrapped and replaced in less than 10 years.
