It was a toss up for me, I originally bought it with the resonator and since the straight pipe was cheap I ordered that later. I loved the sound of the turbo without but sounded really nice with. So difficult to choose!!!

It's a beautiful sound for a 4 cylinder.

It's all from rawtek, cat doesn't really do much other than keep boost spikes down with adding a little back pressure. Smells like a diesel should.

Apologies but looking into buying a Jetta 2014 (first “adult” car I’ll drive since my highschool 2001 jeep Cherokee so I’m completely changing car worlds) what are tunes and what does that mean? Or what is a direction you can point me to learn about this? Is it a part, is it a performance tuning that a shop does?

I left it with the high flow cat all summer, I put the resonator back on recently. it's kind of a toss up for me as I like it both ways. on the bright side it takes about a half an hour to swap them out.

It definitely drones with the windows down, with the windows up it is noticeable but not significant. I liked it both ways but typically kept it with no resonator because I loved hearing the turbo =P I also had the nuspeed turbo muffler delete which was barely any change but the smooth bore was nice.

Jeremy Trentham back pressure. Without the cat with the small turbo it can get larger boost spikes which are not good. If you go with the larger turbo option you can go without the cat.

Why does everyone in these tdi mod videos worry about emissions? My tdi doesn't need emissions inspection. I live in Pennsylvania if that matters

Do your research and you'll figure out what you all will need. I was getting 45 mpg consistently after the upgrade. Anyone who says they are getting 60 make sure you ask for proof. My trip computer was saying 55mpg to 60mpg but my actual was 45

@@mattfox4027 really only 45 mpg? I'm getting 50-52 mpg right now on a stage 1 Malone with an Afe MagnumFORCE stage 2 intake and stock exhaust and I hoping for at least 55-60 mpg with my Rawtek high flow cat and no resonator. I do ALOT of highway so maybe that's why?

@@Therrien50 are you going off the trip computer or doing the actual calculations with the mileage with gallons filled? My trip computer always said 53-60 but that's not anywhere near where I was actually getting.

@@Therrien50 also, I did mostly highway driving. 93,000 miles in just over 4 years. Many 9 hour drives straight through. Best I ever got was 53 following a semi for 6 hours.

@@mattfox4027 yes I noticed the trip was all over the place so I only used it once. I did my own math and I was able to get 1210 km from full tank to Warning light for low fuel with a 55liter tank that means my fuel economy would have been 4.5L/100km or 52.26mpg this was a full economy cruise with 99% highway keeping my rpm below 2000rpm and babying it on the short drive to the freeway. I'm also on the stock 16inch wheels that this comfort line Jetta came with this could be a possible factor?. I did get 42 mpg once when I had just changed the oil and fuel filter running it quite hard get her cleaned out.

okan elkin there is a low hum when cruising at certain speeds with no resonator. Easily drowned out with the radio. It sounds about the same as stock with the resonator wheel cruising.

Where I live doesn't have emissions checks. If there were then yes, it's illegal.

@@mattfox4027 Just because a cop isn't checking your speed doesn't mean you can go 100 either. It is illegal on the Federal level, but your odds of getting caught are slim to none.

It's barely any louder than stock even with only the high flow CAT. VW made the car very quiet

You don't pass inspection. Period. You either need to move to an area that doesn't need inspections or use it for off road use only.

You'll need to get a Kerma TDI tune. You keep your stock emissions systems though, with still very good power increases.

No, I was stock, but it did have some clutch chatter when I would put my foot down certain times. An upgrade would be highly recommend

I could get it to roll a little coal sometimes, but rolling coal isn't exactly a good thing. if you watch the dyno tune videos I posted you can see some coal. but thick heavy smoke is only a sign of excessive fuel.

It's just how these new "clean diesel" engines were made. Pretty hard for anyone to get them to roll coal compared to the older ones

@@brentwells6501 it isn't hard to get them to roll coal, just need to find someone with a bad tune that dumps fuel into the engine.

It will not. I had to put the car back to stock for the emissions fix and even with no pipe from just in front of the rear axle it was just as loud as it is in the first part of the video. the only way to get this exhaust sound is to remove the DPF and EGR. the tuning part is super easy and takes about 15 minutes with the flashzilla. and if you get the flashzilla it's easy to go back to stock (aside from having to change out the exhaust system.)

When I did mine on the 2013 tdi it was about 1800$. Stage 2 tune but I deleted the cat/res& muffler. It’s pretty loud.

The newest TDI available is a 2015 from VW. It's unlikely at this point if you'll even be able to find one with a warranty

A bunch of these didn't grt dpf installed. My 2014 stock doesnt have dpf. I think 2015 and on has dpf. But older shouldn't. I think they simply detuned them a bit to meet compliance.

@@ShotGunner5609 No, common rail diesel engines don't smoke if properly tuned. 2009 on up VW diesels ALL have a DPF as well as NOx and SOx SRCs. They also ALL have low and high pressure EGRs. If you don't have this on your VW then it's been deleted. You might be confusing this with Diesel Exhaust Fluid, which not all VWs have.

@@iansrving i dont have a dpf filter on my 2014 sportwagen man. Egr and everything else are intact. But if I'm not mistaken the 14 models didn't meet requirements for aftertreatment systems.

Yeah, my malone tune was probably the best choice out there. great power and torque as well as fuel economy. ran great for the last 2 years. dyno numbers were actually higher than what malone advertised!! very pleased with them.
