CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Ray (Jamie Foxx) has a hallucination about his mom (Sharon Warren) and brother (Terrone Bell) brought on by the trauma of his brother's untimely death.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Directed by Taylor Hackford, this biopic profiles the life of legendary musician Ray Charles. Despite humble beginnings and the loss of his eyesight due to glaucoma at the age of six, Charles, depicted by Jamie Foxx, would nonetheless become an icon in both the music industry and the civil rights era. While the film delves into his problems with drugs and women, the bulk of the story details his career; among the highlights of that career are 12 Grammy awards and 11 R&B chart-toppers, such as "Unchain My Heart," "Hit the Road, Jack," "Georgia," "Doin' the Mess Around," and "Hallelujah I Just Love Her So." Also among the cast are Larenz Tate as Quincy Jones, as well as Regina King, Kerry Washington, and Clifton Powell. Charles' son, Ray Charles Jr. helped produce the film.
CREDITS:
TM & © Universal (2004)
Cast: Patrick Bauchau, Terrone Bell, Jamie Foxx, Sharon Warren
Director: Taylor Hackford
Producers: Howard Baldwin, Karen Elise Baldwin, Alise Benjamin, Stuart Benjamin, Taylor Hackford, Barbara A. Hall, William J. Immerman, Jaime Rucker King, Nick Morton, Ray Charles Robinson Jr.

“Talk to me son, I ain’t no bad dream, I’m a part of you.” That line hit so hard. Losing your mom and seeing her in your dreams, talking to you. Is some serious, it’s a love that can never be replaced by anything on this earth. I wish I had’ve known what I know now.

Facts I had a dream about my mom a week after she died. I vividly remember her telling me she was worried how I would deal with the world without her.. had another dream where she was dying in the hospital only for me to come home and she was there sitting on the side of the bed like she never left.. happy to see me. Had a few more after that but non as vivid as those two R.I.P Sylvia Mills 1954-2004

Whatever you believe or don't believe, the key is not deflecting blame anywhere else but where it belongs--which is usually directly to the individual who lashes out and blames a faceless god, or society, or family/friends--anyone but themselves. Need more accountability in this world, that's for damn sure.

That scene makes u shed tears. U r feeling ray charles' own struggle with the dope, And the guilt he felt all his life for his little brothers death. And since he gave the movie his stamp of approval, u know that it is no unauthorized biopic of his life. He was interviewed extensively so it could be as detailed as possible. U could only live that, u could not make it up. Makes u appreciate the genius even more.

This scene is so powerful The therapist has taken him through the detox portion to remove the numbing effects of the drugs that he used to take away his ability to feel. This is a good example of how important forgiveness is for the person who gives it. Forgiveness is not about the other person. Forgiveness is about you. The healing of your heart, mind & soul. That's why it's important that forgiveness comes naturally & from the heart. A lot of people don't realize that.

I loved Ray Charles to pieces. When I saw this movie in theaters, I remember crying like everything he felt, I felt for him. He went through so much and still came out on top. These young boys today could learn a lot from him. Everything this man went though, don't ever say what you can't do. All of Ray's demons, his constant test of faith is what really hits home in this movie, to show you he was no angel and never said he was. He was just trying to find some peace and a way to heal.

Fun fact: the actress that plays his mother is the actress in the Small Axe mercury sound party that hits the high note. She always knows when and where to show up on screen.

Wow, that quite the epiphany for Ray. Two people who sadly died young and never enjoyed Ray's stardom. RIP Aretha & George Robinson.

I feel like crying, it's such a sad moment to see his own lil brother, fall into that tub, I knew it wasn't Ray's fault, I just it's so emotional to watch, how he sees in his vision, it's just emotional to see his mother hug him and his little brother hug him, it's so deep with emotion.

Very powerful scene and an even more powerful performance by Jamie Foxx...I like Jamie Foxx so what I'm about to say is just my opinion...actors like Denzel Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle etc., bring it in every role they play...now you might not like every movie they are in but you can never say that their performance wasn't up to par. Jamie Foxx has a lot of talent but I just feel like in some of his movie roles he didn't take them as seriously as he took his role in Ray.

Ray was in a lot of pain. He'd probably snap if you were trying to talk to him "Did you lose your little brother right in front of you? No, you don't get it. You weren't there". Someone should have told him "Ray I know what its like to blame everyone else for your pain and to blame yourself". It wouldn't help if you said to him and shouldn't say to him "Ray, there's nothing you could have done". Ray would still say painfully about George "He needed help and I didn't do anything. I just froze". Seeing him and his mom is definitely what he needed.

I feel really bad for ppl who have no love for their mother. Whether their mom did something to make them not feel for her or whether they just lack a heart. I cherish the relationship I have always had with my mother, even though it can be a struggle sometimes. One of the most important relationships/bonds one can have!!
