Ray was my great Uncle! My grandfather Ronald Amm (Rays brother) used to tell me all the stories of him growing up. He was a legend and I'm very proud of the man i never got to meet! 😢😊

I had heard when Ray crashed at Monza he had slid into a post which sadly caused his death. He was the MV Agusta hope for the future. They knew he was a great rider and would have eventually put MV on top had he survived.

Yes, it was such a pitty cause Ray would have started the Agostini, Hailwood and Surtees Great era for MV Agusta 💪

I incorrectly stated in an earlier comment that Ray Amm had his fatal crash at Monza, Italy. The crash actually occurred at Imola, Italy. It was Ray's very first race for MV Agusta and in a non-championship 350cc race in 1955 he crashed and slid into a post, tragically resulting in his death.

Ray Amm is not forgotten though. He may have passed in early 1955, but lives on in the hearts and minds of race fans.

Great rider won at Dundrod 1954.500 cc class and 350 cc class and fastest lap in both races what a pity he lost his life at Monza freak accident rollled down a grass slope and his head hit a iron post hidden in the grass.

Very sad that he passed so young
