Fun Fact: They originally offered the role of the tinman to Ray Bolger but he was adamant he should be the Scarecrow. After long talks and Ray and his wife storming out of MGM they finally gave him the role of the Scarecrow and gave the role of the Tinman to Buddy Epsen. Buddy nearly died from inhaling the Tinman's powdered makeup and had to be taken to hospital and replaced by the one and only Jack Haley, and the makeup was changed from powder to paste.
