This aint no conspiracy about how they tryna get rid of Hip Hop because we been dominant. If Hip Hop fails its on us, end off! Not some white guy in the office who dont know the culture. The truth is culture has gone down the drain, they don't even say As and Bs on their songs anymore. It's all gibberish. "Shahbsnld dbhshhd shjfhf", type of bullshxt. You got Drake who dont wanna grow up, hair looking like my aunty whe she's getting her hair done and dressed like oversized uncle. Its all a curcus in Hip Hop. When we call out this type of shxt, you called a hater, you old bluh bluh bluh. True Hip Hop died long time ago. Whatever this is nowadays we need to think of new genre to call it.

It's like when that neighborhood restaurant w great real food turns into a fast food franchise yeah the place looks better and the workers are getting paid more but the quality of the food is trash because now everything is processed. Investors need to just supply the ingredients, keep the lights on etc while creators come up good recipes and just cook it and you need a person who knows their consumers, taste the food and put out the best plates that'll generate the most money

Harpin over the whys wouldn't that pin just a few big killers in the game in a small niche market where heavy concentration is required at the expert level. That pushes out all the other damn good artist, pay them less and not get the glory, as pay and shine is what's at the forefront. What's the incentive for them to perform at the level of the greats or close to?

Most children will bob to anything with a beat add a repetitive lyric and the youth are hooked that plus social and intellectual competence is shunned so of course the music sounds horrible.

Esso's cup analogy is awesome! A question also worth asking is how much of the consumer's shifting sensibilities play into this. While the standards for making Rap music have arguably diminished, the needs and wants of the listener have also changed. While increasing profitability is an important KPI in an organization's measure of success, being able to deliver against the ever-changing needs and wants of the consumer is also extremely important. This evidences an effective engagement strategy that will support the long-term goal of sustained product consumption; thereby, achieving profitability. Ultimately, I believe that the new generation of Hip Hop artists has come to understand that authenticity is no longer lucrative for most and that following a proven model of success is a small sacrifice when the payoff is removing your family from abject poverty. Being a visionary doesn't always lead to an opportunity to increase earnings, profitability, and market share but maintaining a pulse on what the audience wants and creating products that deliver against these wants is what supports the drive to success. If factual, the reduction in Rap music sales might be because Afro-Beats has identified a niche as well as, the shifting interests of the listeners. Great discussion guys - Keep'em coming!!

West Coast is popping right now and New York, to me ,(as a Brooklyn Baby) is repetitive. Shout out to JD and the whole southern movement but I don't think they moving like the West Coast...tell me different?

Hip Hop artists need to go back to marketing towards REAL hip hop heads For years artists just want a hit, and promote to everyone who listens to music instead of going to hip hop heads, and the people who will like your style within that group. This makes your money be spent more directly which means your fanbase can grow If you just throw your money in all directions, you lose more then you gain

We been saying some of this new artist are trash. They will have one good song, gets played all over the world, then bring in established artist on the remix and your stock goes up for a while then you drop. But you get called a hater for pointing it out 🤷🏿‍♂️. You you wanna stop young people from getting money bluh bluh bluh. While other genres of music still say their As and Bs, hip hop is all gibberish and one hit wonders....

We (Black people) built this house (Hip Hop) and now have to ask for permission to live in it. No other genre of music allows other races to come in and dictate. As a people we have sold out out for money. Until we start owning and controlling what is ours we’ll always be slaves to the music industry.

rock is dead too. the last generation of real rock stars are the guys from the 90s. rock fans say rock is dead. rock albums used to go #1. not anymore. music just isn't the same anymore because only a handful of corporations own the industry and radio and streaming services...its no competition. and when theres no competition, the market gets lazy because it's no reason to be good. theres only one youtube, no competition to it whatsoever. and youtube is owned by who? the same few corporations that own everything else

Today's hip hop is garbage. I don't even care to listen to new hip hop. I will listen to Cole or Kendrick when they drop but I don't bother with many new artists. You actually had to have talent to make a record back in the day. I have resorted to going back and listening to 70's records.

Rappers today don't know about gorilla promotion and marketing, street teams, artist development, etc. It's the producers that suck too. All the new producers taking hits that were made 15-20 years ago trying to make it hit again. That's cheating to me. No creativity. Just cheating their way in. Everybody rapping the same. Imagine if Prodigy, 2pac, Nas, JayZ, and Biggie all rapped and sounded the same. Labels were not going for that.

Hip-hop is ALIVE AND VIBRANT in the STREETS and in the Black Community. So is R&B. Those numbers represent the profit margin for the CORPORATE ENTITIES, and WHO CARES? Who cares if the SHADY record labels dont make as much? Their robbing the artist and our culture anyway. The Corporate power structure is elevating allot of immigrant music, like afro beats. Because there actually conducting an all out attack on Black American culture. Promoting ratchet artist like Sexy Red to represent the culture. Elevating foreigners, It all ties into the Liberals and the REPLACEMENT and ERASURE of Black American culture. Yall need to stop talking all that TETHER talk, and act like you know.
