Ray is a national treasure. My childhood would have been poorer without his beautiful songs.

I love how emotional Ray is at the start of Days. Two great songs. Nothing wrong with a little sentimentality in my book.

Possibly one of the best songs ever written. And as for days it’s going to be played at my funeral.

I thank God that I have been on this planet at the same time in history as Ray Davies.

Some artists just transcend rock music and become so uniquely legendary through their material. No laser beams, no smoke machines, no dancers. Ray Davies (and The Kinks) were these artists. This is a festival audience and they know the lyrics to his songs. Some not yet born when they were hits. Absolutely stunning. Ray never fails to send chills down my spine. Bless you Ray Davies.

I am not even British, yet Ray Davies' music has always moved me deeply. He is a people's poet.

What blew me away was that he 's singing and playing in the same key that he did it with the Kinks 40 whatever years ago.

In October last year my wife of 50 years marriage passed away and Days was,played at the Cremation service. This performance of the fantastic song was magic and brought back memories and tears to my eyes.

Still one of the most beautiful songs ever written and recorded.

Sir Ray Davies. Has a nice ring to it. Most songwriters would be lucky to write three or four classic songs during their career. Ray must have written at least 50. Many of the B sides of The Kinks songs are stunning and still sound fresh more than 50 years after they were written. God Bless Ray Davies and The Kinks. They make me proud to be British. Pete Quaife R.I.P. A superb musician. Just listen to the riffs he played.

RIP Pete Quaife, true Kinks fans will always remember you and thank you as you co-founded one of the greatest and most influential British groups in our history, and your bass playing was so underrated. Ray, you really are something else - truly one of our greatest songwriters ever.

God save The Kinks. I cannot tell you what their music has meant to me in my lifetime.

As a young teen in the 60’s I heard and quickly bought their records which were so different in being so rocky and yet so sensitive. I’ve still got the 68’s of You Really Got Me, Set Me Free, All Day and All of The Night, Dead End Street, Sunny Afternoon, Waterloo Sunset, Victoria, Come Dancing, Lola and Autumn Almanac. I took my wife Victoria to see the musical “Sunny Afternoon” in London. Thanks you the Kinks, Ray and Dave Davies and the band and the Muswell Hillbillies for help building the soundtrack of my life!!

Saw the Kinks opening for the Who at the Kinetic Playground in Chicago, 1969 I think. Marvelous show, and when the Who came out, they dedicated their set to the KInks. Two great, great bands.

THE man really ought to be honoured...the guy was certainly the backdrop to my life in it's formative years...his really clever lyrics strongly contributed to the feel of the 60s/70s...and in hindsight his influence has been greatly underestimated.... Ray, if you read this...thank you for the days...

Anyone else cry when Ray tears up at 4:08? I was already a huge Ray Davies and The Kinks fan as a young teen in the early 70s when not many of my friends were listening to him/them. And I was glad of that, because the music felt more personal for me. I was glad that no huge tidal wave of popularity was taking The Kinks away from me. I didn't have to share them with people who just hopped on board the next "popular-to-like-so-an-so" train. When Ray wrote "Misfits" he wrote it for me. And for all of you here commenting on this page, my fellow Misfits. I remember purchasing the Kinks Kronicles double album at my town's record store. I was about 13 years old at the time and the girl behind the counter (an older 18-sh year-old girl with a dirty girl look and a sweater full of goodies and whom I was secretly madly in love with) made sort of an odd face when I handed her the album. She looked at it, flipped it over a few times, then just looked at me and said, "You know this is a double album, right?" I guess she thought a little squirt like me didn't know what I was buying and didn't have the money for it. Lol! I opened it up the moment I got home, listened to it a thousand times on my record player while reading the print right off the liner notes! I got to see The Kinks on several occasions, once at a smaller venue in Upstate NY in 1981 and had the honor of shaking Ray's hand from the general admission first row that I had managed to move up to. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Mr. Davies. And no, Ray, you're "not like everybody else". God Save The Kinks!!

Always a pleasure to hear Ray Davies songs.

The Kinks played for 30 years. They changed with the times but never sacrificed their sound.

Saw him in a pub in Chicago in 2001 where he dedicated this song to Dave who apparently said, “say hello to the yanks for me,” upon hearing he was doing a US tour. One of my fondest memories.

Waterloo Sunset always makes Me smile and Days was played at My Sister in Law's funeral, it really does mean a lot to Me, and also meant a lot to My Brother who passed earlier this year.and dedicated this to his Wife, Thank's Ray.

In 1980 as a young 'second generation' Mod I bumped into Ray Davies at Waterloo Station with my mates - if only camera phones had been invented. Although many years ago and only a couple of minutes Ray was a real gent and his music a real inspiration.
