He makes skis from a log, makes resin to treat the skis using a gasifier, which he inturn trades the coal made in the gasifier to a black smith for a knife blade then while sking he makes a handle for his knife. Hands down the best episode. ENJOY!

hunters like to use traditional knifes like in this video but if your not in sweden just buy the mora2000 its the modern version and with very good quality for basic camping/bushcraft and you can probably buy 7-8 of them for the price of a "same knife" etc.

I've made a knife like that once. Calling the filing down of the handle and sheath "a long job" is an understatement to say the least. But the result is nice.

why not just use an electric sander?

@@readmycomment3157 Because we were kids working in a public workshop with no such luxuries and under the supervision of a carpenter who was reeeally into honing the fundamentals of craft. Also for better or worse it was the 80's

Does anybody have a suppositon about what type of glue he might be using to glue the handle toghether?

Looks like Wood Glue, Bone is quite porous so it might also work for bone

You could be right. And sice he rivets the end of the tang the antler doesn't have to stick to the metal...

I find it nice like having a composite handle like that, but even if its riveted, if the glue undone and the parts start to spin, you loose your grip. For a proper, useful knife I would go for a full bone or wood handle, with a hand guard.

@@SirPetterTheFirst but you don't make the holes round, you make them square to fit the tang.
