And the reason for slamming is simple: First season is probably THE best thing ever created for television, so everyone (well, almost) expected pretty much the same level of quality in season 2. But that was/is simply undoable! Especially not for only 6 month after he (Nic) finished writing the first season, in which he put his best: his philosophical ideas, the attitude towards life, the inspiration for the murder itself, all of the essential things he's been developing for probably his all life... And they (the producers) wanted him to do the same thing again in just 6 months?! But writing doesn't work that way! That's why season 2 was just a pale copy of the first season! Characters were far from being original, many of the lines were poor, the initial idea for the murder was incomplete, and many other things! Of course, one of the main was the absence of the director Cary Joji Fukunaga, who directed the entire 1st season. This time they tried with different directors for each episode, hoping that it'll work out (as it is in many other shows), but it clearly didn't. Instead we've got numerous boring shots that only added to the overall failure! So, let's hope that it won't happen again in season 3. Let's hope that Nic will come up with new ideas, create original characters (not all of them have to be tormented by their ghosts from the past), and that the story will unfold in intriguing way!

+Shteno That's just, like... your opinion, man. i mean yeah, the first season was a masterpiece, but the second one was good on his own terms.

+Shteno I wouldn't say the best, but first season was very solid, definitely on par with Daredevil among other shows and one of the best in the last decade since the first two seasons of csi. Having said that, second season is different, still quality but very different from the first, and I thing that is what bothers people, at least that is how it was for me. I was looking for more of season 1 weirdness instead I got state corruption so that took a bit of getting used to but once I did that was that.

Yeah, it's fine, but you ought to see the work of this guy named Grzegorz Grabowiec (just looked it up, cuz as you see, it's not the easiest name in the world, to remember 😉😄😋probably Polish or Hungarian. Nevertheless, it's also the name of his channel, and he's made many, many such clips, dubbed "The story of ....", about the most memorable characters in the best TV series, like True Detective, Fargo, Breaking Bad...) who's also made a tribute video of Ray. I'm gonna send you one of his best works (DA BEST, by me), about THE most memorable TV characters in the last 30+ years, after Special Agent Dale Cooper, I guess - Rustin Cohle. Afterwards, he made a video about Ray Velcoro too (if you haven't seen it already, it's also named "The Story Of Ray Velcoro"), and the unique thing about Grzegorz"s work (in this case) is that he decided for a 1st time, to use the same music/song, as he did in Rust video, with an intention to emphasize the similarities between these two characters, from different seasons different story alltogether. +Roberthenryii Great question! I loved Season 1 and couldn't wait to hear who the big 2 would be for Season 2. When I heard that it would be C.F. and V.V., I was floored, especially with Big "Frank." Loved it! Loved it even more the 2nd time I watched it! If there is a Season 3, and I think there will be, I expect to be shocked again. Just for kicks, I'll throw out Jake Gyllenhaal and Gary Oldman. Do you know if Season 3 is confirmed? Do we have any timeline on announcing characters? I'd assume that filming would start in the not too distant future. I hope we have many more seasons! Have a good one! P.S. V.V. took a big risk it doing this show and, in my eyes, it paid from an artistic standpoint. From a dollars and cents standpoint, I'm not so sure. It will take awhile before I'll be able to take him seriously as a comedic actor. His next choice will be huge!
