FAQs: Q: Is this a mouse? A: No, it's a single handed game pad. Q: What's the point since this is only half a keyboard? A: It's a luxury item. It's slightly nicer to use this than a keyboard and since you can customise every key you can use your keyboard like normal but have a load of macros setup on this. You should also go in detail about Razer switches and their history, they started of with cherry mx blues on their first mechanical keyboards, went on with cheap kailh ones and the end because they didn't like the quality they started producing their own switches which we now know as Razer switches ( Green, Yellow , Orange ) for people who purchased a keyboard with kailh switches, i feel sorry for you :/ , the more you know.

I've always kinda wished that these devices had an analog d-pad instead of digital 8 way. I've got one of these in the mail regardless, but it would make it perfect for me. Either way, it's going to b e a huge space saver on my desk with limited real estate for games where I've setup my joystick but want to retain the use of my mouse.

Most cherry keycaps fit Razer boards. I have rainbow alphabet and arrow keys on my blackwidow chroma tkl.

I've got the older version and i've absolutely love it! Can't see myself ever going back to play games on a keyboard again. It's so comfy for long time gaming👌🏻 Sure it has its limitations when playing games that require a lot of keys. When i play BF1 it's hard to get all the important keys mapped out. Like the F-keys for choosing a seat in a vehicle. Sure you can get around this with macros. But it's perfect for arpg👍🏻

As always, great review. For anyone wondering why this over a standard keyboard... I have used the the standard Orbweaver before the Chroma, and the Nostromo (with mushy keys) before that. I originally picked up the Nostromo on the advice of a Mass Effect 3 multiplayer player and never looked back - the option to have reload, two powers and three consumables plus WASD accessible to left finger and thumb without moving my hand was amazing. Then a keypad just translated easily to other games, eg Skyrim - map, shout, character menu, system menu, ready weapon, inventory, wait, change view, sneak, sprint, favourites, and I could easily add more. I just find it so much easier instead of hunting and pecking over a keyboard, plus it feels so natural and intuitive - right hand mouse, left hand Orbweaver. But it's not for everyone - I've shown it to my friends and none of them will go near it. You would have to prise it from my hand before I'd give it up; it's beautifully made, and if you're thinking 'that looks cool, I wonder if..?' I'd say go for it. BTW I tried the Logitech G3, which some people recommend, and didn't like it; it felt cheap and plasticky and way too big and cumbersome.

Ingredients1 pouch Betty Crocker™ chocolate chip cookie mix Butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch 1/3 cup crushed graham crackers 12 PEEPS® brand patriotic vanilla crème flavored chicks 3 bars (1.55 oz each) milk chocolate, broken into fourths Directions 1 Heat oven to 375°F. Line cookie sheets with cooking parchment paper. 2 In medium bowl, mix cookie mix, butter and egg. You can have different lighting effects on the different keys. When your in the key customization for the individual keys you can add layers (bottom left) with different effects on each layer.

For me, this is an excellent device. For one thing, I am left handed which is nice for a change getting a device for a left handed person. But the best reason I use it? Because I have extremely bad Psoriatic Arthritis and I simply cannot play on a keyboard for the hours I can play when using the Orbweaver. So for anyone dissing this device, fine, don't use it. But it definitely fills a hole for me to be able to play...

I love my gaming chair. Held up a lot better than the staples office chairs and is 10x more comfortable and adjustable. Also helped a lot with my back which I hurt when I was younger. Not to mention it just looks badass too.

Manufacturers reviews are pointless. They all sell "the best product" of it's kind. So scratch those reviews. Then there are youtuber reviews. You get these products for free because you advertise them for free. Since you say whatever gets the most views and don't even buy these products, your opinion and reviews are biased and void. I'll listen to the guy with the least views first. And stop calling me poor...I can afford whatever I like.

+Lexe2009 Have you actually watched many KZfaq reviews? Specifically myself, I make the pros and cons explicitly clear and if there is something wrong with a product I talk about it. It is actually possible to limit bias in these sorts of reviews. Also to clarify, you know that all the written reviews you read have products provided by manufacturers, and often they are paid for their time spent on the review by the manufacturer too, right? I mean it's your life so you want to only listen to the few people who can afford to buy all the products they review then fair enough, but to save everyone who receives samples from companies are biased and opinions are void is overreaching, I'd say quite unfounded and if nothing else is insulting.

So you know - you can add different lighting modes at the same time to this or Razer keyboards, there is the + in the bottom left for different layers to use :D I have my keyboard 75% green, 25% random custom colors on WASD and other gaming keys, then a layer of reactive, so when I press a key they will change from one color to another custom color quickly then back to what they're set to. Looks nice to type on and game while having it change. Worth experimenting on

It amazes me how many reviewers and buyers of the orbweaver have no idea what the benefit of the orbweaver is, especially for FPS. The thumb joystick gives you the best of both the console controller and the mouse. If your not using the joystick for movement, you've missed the point, plan and simple. I dance around keyboard users while executing multiple other commands with my left hand while normal keyboard users have to concede movement to hit numbered buttons or C, X, Z, R ect... For example, W is my jump, D and A are my most commonly used ability or alt buttons (CS:GO I use them for walk and crouch), S as well (usually grenade button). Don't buy this if you're not looking for console style movement to complement your mouse, people that use this as just a keyboard WSAD movement are fools, literally.

This is one of the things I'm not sure of. A lot of people are saying the joystick isn't really meant to be used as an analog stick for movement, and then others like you are saying it's perfect for that function. This is one of the main reasons I want to get a gamepad like this. The thumbstick is an 8-way directional pad isn't it? It's not 360 movement like a true analog on a controller?

DAEMONF1RE I’ve never found a game the directional pad doesn’t work with. You’ll need to set the pad to 4-way movement, which is default although I switch up/down and left/right because the default doesn’t make sense (you’ll see if you get one). You still get diagonal movement it’s just how it registers. 4-way diagonal registers as a 2 button press; for example up-left would be a 2 button press just like using normal WASD (W and A). Since most PC games don’t have a single key for diagonal movement, 8-way doesn’t really work as each diagonal direction registers as a single button press, if that makes sense But the result is the same (you probably could program the 8-way to use the 2 button press, but i’ve never felt the need to as that is what the 4-way is doing anyway). It’s not analog, which is not an issue since the vast majority of PC games don’t actually support analog. It can be modded for an analog stick with quite a bit of effort, but they guy was using for consoles, search youtube. I can never go back and my hand is better for it! The only drawback is peeking corners as there is a slight delay as the stick travels from one direction to the other compared to being able to to pop on and off using WASD. Probably why it’s not seen in high level competitive, but it works fine for my competitive level and makes up for that in most games by adding more fluid movement combined with quick ability/utility uses with the freed WASD buttons. Right now, you can find previous version without the chroma (just adds colors) on ebay for $60-90, just bought a used one for $70 like new. A lot of people buy them and don’t use them, just look at the pictures for key wear and palm rest wear. Good luck, Have fun!

sensualsonata you must be shit at csgo the directional pad would limit your ability to corner peek. I understand this would be good for movement in most fps games but for a competitive csgo where strafing quickly back and forth is key using a directional of would only hinder your speed. The point of the directional of is not necessarily for movement but instead for the opportunity for your thumb to actually do something more than press the space bar. It's made for mmos where you need to use shift alt and ctrl modifiers to increase the amount of macros you can have and most people use the directional pad for those modifiers or just for abilities. In csgo I would bind different directions to different nades and still use wasd for movement as corner peeking and strafing while shooting is crucial in higher ranks

I've use Razer Nostromos and Tartus for gaming for at least 6-7 years. So much so that I've had to replace keys due to wearing the numbers off of them. I needed a peripheral that would take the F1-F12 keys and put them all within reach of just 4 fingers. I've found this both speeds reaction and reduces errors. So now I rarely ever touch my keyboard except to message but that is reduced when we all use Ventrilo or Team Speak. I have on them (I still have both and both still work) 18 mappable keys of which I really don't use them all (I think there are two I don't use). In addition to the mapping, I'd like to be able to change keys to Like white keys for movement, blue keys for heals, red keys for combat abilities and have them illuminate because I often play in the dark. I'd like to see them become ambidextrous for either hand and possibly a laser optical mouse built in (the units really aren't that bulky, about 2 and a half times the size of my gaming mouse). Also wireless with the wired option. I wish razer would sell replacement key packs, I really wear these suckers out.

You can have all keys in another mode....when you are in Razer synapse there is a small plus on the left down corner in when you are in light mode....when you press it then you can add additional effects...I have mine on static green with reactive blue. So it’s possible

One gripe of mine is there aren't any bumps on the round directional thumb button so it's hard to know what direction you are pushing it. Kind of sucks but the "space bar" thumb button and the other small thumb button are extremely useful.

Going to be honest. One of the worst semi-high production reviews I've ever seen. If we wanna hear what it sounds like, then mute any other sounds such as a BACK TRACK, and use a decent mic to negate background noise such as static, and don't just spam the keys, press them like you'd use them in a real game. Also, camera movement, it's sudden but smooth, sometimes that's good but for a small product and over head shots, it doesn't quite work out. Another thing is if it's a review or some sort of show off of the product, looking fully into the details (not just "It's like *insert product here*, and the accusation point is *similar*") and look over thoroughly of the programs needed to run this thing.

I know this is late and probably already been addressed, But you can have the keymap lights set to do different things at different times. Example would be, I have 2-5 as red dominate, but when pressed they ripple in all colors. You just have to select what you want for each key or groups. Using ctrl helps with this.

Thanks for the review - I have the original orbweaver and it seems that there's nothing new here apart from chroma support (and it now uses Razer switches instead of Cherry ones) I don't really find it all that good for FPS games, though I can see why it would be, I actually use mine mostly for MOBAs - it works a treat for these!

Just a heads up, u can custom the keys to do pulse and static etc, just press add. I can do it on my razer chroma keyboard.

This would actually be good for an mmo player assuming you have full control of the key mapping. If so then then i'd buy it. That tactile joystick or whatever it's called would be especially useful since my ring finger goes numb when i'm using the WASD keys for more than 20 minutes, generally becoming a nuisance to me and causing me to miss the keys i want to hit and instead hitting another key

wish they made this with liner switches like the speedswitch/red/razer yellow/Kailh silver. i could buy it anyway and remove the switches I like this idea for extra mouse room and more thumb buttons, there is real potential in this, i don't think many can see, but i want to use it first.

I'll occasionally use the Orbweaver for my space games like X3 and Starcitizen, or Wow. Got the Nostromo and it does it's job in all those games nicely, but it is about 6-7 years old now so I'm looking for a replacement

How would you compare the d-pad on both comfort and ease of use? I had a Nostromo N50 which worked quite well until it wore out. I now have both a Nostromo N52te and Logitec G13. Neither of these had the same feel. Even though the N52te analog stick was removable, it wasn't comfortable and my thumb would continually slide off. The G13's analog stick was too long and movement was too sensitive. The long analog stick made prolonged game play extremely fatiguing...you also couldn't perform rapid precision movements unless you used both your thumb and index finger simultaneously.

I use the Razer Tartarus and it is awesome! It's easier on your hands vs having your hands all crammed up on the keyboard. Besides keyboards are meant for typing.

so you cant use the joystick as a cursor right? i just bought the Tartarus v2 thinking ( as a left hander) i could use the joystick to control my cursor instead of having a mouse but.... thats not happening. so can you the joystick for the orb weaver as a cursor replacement or no joystick, just directional buttons

Hi there. An odd question I'm sure but can the directional joystick be programmed to mimic mouse movements? (i.e. like with a trackball mouse). I do a lot of programming and digital work you see and being able to fully free up my right hand would be brilliant.

Strongly considering this as I currently have a Logitech G13 and strictly use mine for video editing in premiere speeds up my workflow by just pressing a single key instead of searching aroubd my keyboard for keystrokes.
