No governors. The smaller one does about 8mph. The larger one does about 12 mph. The biggest difference is the torque on the 500 is much more noticeable. Easier to climb hills and get through rougher terrain.

He’s 5 and 1/2. So long as the rider has some experience, the 500 will be fine.

Also do you know the model number of the motor as it may be able to run on 36 volts to be just as fast as the larger vehicle, that's assuming that they're using the same motor and gearbox on both models

They are different, motors/ controllers. The smaller runs on 24 volts The Quad 500 is 36 volts

Thanks I have updated my purchase went with the 500 and will be running three 12 volt 30ah lifepo4 batteries by Miady. I use them in his rid on from big toys, they are half the weight and you're allowed to deplete them to damn near 0% without damaging the batteries. They also charge in about an hour and the voltage is pretty stable so no slowdowns. Also someone asked in another Thread about adding the potentiometer to the reverse only. I had both parts laying around so I did a little experiment and it works fine. Instead of adding the two crossed wires to the switch you add two potentiometer instead. A separate for reverse and forward drive Edit; I wasn't able to get the potentiometer you listed to work separately for reverse on the razor Quad 500, but I ordered a second remote/ programmable high current potentiometer with remote stop, brake & reverse from Amazon and that worked fine . I also went with 2x 12 volts 30ah lifpo4 bateries in series to achieve 24 volt 30ah. it was impossible to find a 36 volt lifpo4 charger. And the 24-volt set up allowed me to program the potentiometer to only work in reverse, the accompanying remote control with some kind of motor break function as potential, but I'll need to do some research as it's a hard stop. Maybe the resistor in his old ride on will help with that problem I'll just need to figure out where to place it in the circuit

Hello Phil I have one more question if you don't mind. Can the brake levers on the 24 volt version fit the 500? & and how much smaller are they my son is 5 years old, he ride the bike with no issue but his little hands can barely fit over the brakes.
