The way to solve the issue with the UFS receptor is this: Take out the weird thin cardboard insole that sits in between the liner and the shell (I'm not talking about the insole from inside the liner). Cut UFS receptor shaped holes in the insole (they usually have a dent from the receptor so you can use that as a template), then put the insole back in. The receptors should fit perfectly in the holes you've just cut. This makes the receptor sit flush with the insoles, which makes a completely flat surface for your liner to sit on, instead of the receptor pushing up the insole which is what causes the bump you can feel under your foot.

I would trace the receptor on the plastic of boot, remove them, then carefully drill holes just 1mm deep so then the receptor sits in its own pocket in the plastic. At least for us who remove the inner insole. I have tall feet and always remove that boot insole @ricardolino

Good idea. I’m going to do that today. Just bought a used pair. Replaced the souls plate with black. Receptors kept falling out. Could always leave that in also and just drill through the bottom existing holes through that weird cardboard piece. Either way. Good call.

The Best hack is to place the frontreceptor inbetween the soulplate and the boot. It does not compromise the integrity of the skstes. I ve been using that tech for a while and I ve never broken a pair.

Truly an amazing perspective on the legendary branding approach. I grew up wanting Shima skates but couldn’t afford them. You never know, I might buy a pair and relive some great memories. Congrats on the channel, brings me great joy to get some flashbacks.

i had a razors genesys 7 and a razors aragon 2 back in 2008 and 2009, i used to skate a lot and now i'm back to it, at 32yo... so excited! just bought these shima 3, it arrives tomorrow i think, i can't wait ! anyways, thanks for the review, ricardo. hugs from brazil!

they need to "counter sink' the ufs receptor deeper in the heel of the boot. there are drill bits to fix this.

Snowboard bindings alone sell for $200-$400 plus. Put things in perspective for rollerbladers and their concerns on cost.

True... but snowboarding has always been a rich persons sport, and bladers know that. Which is why they blade instead.

Damn you Lino! You talked about that feeling in the UFS receptor and I was like nahhh I haven’t skated in forever I won’t be that picky… probably won’t even feel what he’s talking about… just got my Shima 3’s and you’re right- I feel it- I am that picky and I’m grateful that you not only review the stock skate but you talk about the fixes that made it work for you. Thanks for the killer review!

I'm feeling nostalgic with this "new" skate ! If I may... Actually it's the second reedition of S3's. I still own the original one and the first reedited one. The first was boot only with the infamous high reign liner if i'm correct. the reedited one was all razors, I mean liner/frame/wheels. Aquele abraço :)

Receptor issue. Cut a circle in the cardboard insole where the receptor is and it will sit flush. I had the same issue with my Cults and they felt 10x better after doing that.

Does the Shima 3 version of the Cult shell have the higher end plastic what Razors calls fiberglass reinforced nylon? If I recall correctly, the pro model SLs like the Henderson 2 and Auroux have a higher quality construction over the more basic Graphite version. Unsure about the Shifts.

It's called a skatecarrier most skateshops (Loco,Hedonskate,ThisIsSoul etc) have them in stock. Usually they are 5 to 10 bucks and definitely worth it if you're sick of the liners cutting into your fingers while carrying your skates.

What the hell ! This UFS receptor problem is totally silly :-O I modify my skate a lot and I know damn well how hard it is to have all the receptors flush even when there a groove in the boot because you can never tight the UFS bolts enough by hand.

Im an old man now and used to skate in the late 90's and always skated k2 fattys, what skate would you reccomend closet if i were to want to get back into it? Also roces were too fast for me on rails i didnt like them

If you were the manufacturer you'd release the Shima 3 too. It's a sure shot to sell out. It makes total sense from a business perspective. Let's be real...they dropped pro skates for Nico Auroux, Derek Henderson & Jeph Howard & they didn't sell. They need a win & a Shima skate guarantes that. T hen they can take the capital made from the Shima skate and put it towards current skaters pro models.

It's quite telling if you go on Loco and see they have almost all Razors skates in all sizes. People have 100% turned away from the brand. It is important to note the high stock levels of the other brands too but it isnt anywhere near as pronounced. I hope the incredible talent they have on the Razors Team get what they deserve...a real bunch of killers...but I do fear for the brand.

@Aaron Jimenez that's good to hear. The ageing skaters will always snap up nostalgia like Shimas etc. It's the newer items that don't seem to be fairing as well...the Howard's, Auroux, new colour SLs and newer variants of the Cults etc.

They really need to push their marketing. They didnt even build up the release of these. Gotta gradually tease and get people excited not just do a “ oh hey btw surprise here’s this skate”. Seems lazy. And then they could do limited run colorways or collabs in-between a pro model drops. And thats without making new molds for new parts. (I do think some newly designed soulplates would be cool. The plastic slides so good)

@marc fresh agreed on the plastic, I had SLs back in the day and they are awesome skates that slide so well. They really dropped the ball on the Shifts though...I think that leaves their best bet a soft redesign / improvement of the SLs and Cults.
