It is so cool that model railroading has always been a family affair, the closest I ever came to that was my dad buying me my first set when I was 4 and having a life long love of trains ever since,cherish every moment you have with your dad because once they are gone it really leaves a void in your life regardless if they were involved in your hobby or not R.I.P. to my dad 4/27/19

This is what model trains are all about. I have memories as a kid putting together our track every Christmas. I built a 2 car garage set for my boys when they were small. We took it down years ago but we had a lot of good memories.

My dad still has his lionel set from the 70's when general mills owned lionel. The build quality is poor but it is still neat he has his original set. And i still have my lionel set that my parents got me in the 90's. Now i have one daughter of my own and a son on the way. I hope to continue the love of model trains!

Chris, this was definitely something special and I was immersed in your father’s layout. I think you could have went on for hours and I would have never lost attention trying to see every detail. I have bought Gargraves track for my new layout and after seeing your dad’s layout, I think I made the right decision. There’s so much in his 16x9 layout that made me smile and the fact that I am setting up my new layout to be about 11x21, I will definitely be able to fit a lot more then what I thought inside those city limits. Thank you for this amazing look at your dad’s layout, I have been looking forward to this one for a long time. I will add that you have not aged a bit. I took a social media break over the past week to focus on my mom for Mother’s Day, so I am late to this party, but isn’t it something special...indeed.

Another incredible video Chris!!! It's funny that your Dad is not a 'youtuber' so much as you. As old fashioned as my Dad was, he'd be right at home in front of the camera. I know this because one year, an antique show came down from New York City to do an hour long show featuring my father's collection. I could not believe how at home he was in front of the camera. My mother on the other hand had that wild animal look as she was extremely nervous. I was somewhere in between, a bit nervous but could still function. - LOL You're a natural in front of the camera, you even look a bit like a young Jim Carrey. This video is a great tribute to your parents and your memories of childhood, I believe this is what our hobby is all about - family. Keep up the great work!!

Excellent video and narrative. Could you tell me who made that grain car with graffiti? Also why did your dad do the tubular elevated track? Just wondering. Those are good memories you have of your younger train hobby days. Its good you have the pictures to go along with them. Many of my dad's old tables are just a memory. Take care.
@RBPTrains3 жыл бұрын
Hi Edward, the train car is an older Lionel car. I need to locate the box to get the part number. The tubular track on the elevated line is intentional. Dad wanted to blend the classic track feel with the rest of the layout. Plus he had a bunch of tubular track that would have ended up in storage. Pictures or not, these are special memories for sure.
