A great game, made fantastic by the community.

I still enjoy the original Colin Mcrae games. The graphics don't bother me at all. Obviously the physics and feel of the vehicle is what's important and that's where the newer games like RBR, Dirt and WRC shine but the oldies are still fun.

i used to play this game when i was 8. i remember my dad (who is probably older than he should be) downloading 2 games on a lenovo thinkpad that he gave me at the time, one being heretic, the other being a rally game that i couldnt quite remember the name of. but after seeing those graphics, those physics, and that one particaly section of that stage, im confident it is richard burns rally. i used to play that game religiously. it was the first proper game ive played, actually. i remember not knowing any of the conventional racing game controls, figuring them out by pressing buttons. and then i started becoming faster, then i started not hitting the sides of the track... it was glorious. i wasnt even a car guy, it didnt make me like cars, it did make me a little curious about motorsports but over time that interest numbed down. until the 3rd year of highschool i didnt even like cars. seeing it around now, i got nostalgic. i didnt know before that other people hadnt been exposed to stuff like this at such a young age. i had learned what controlling oversteer was at the same time as i learned that pee wasnt stored in the balls. and i didnt even know what oversteer or grip was, i just did it. i thought this stuff was common sense at that age. i had no words for driving a car. it was just driving for me.

Im lucky enough to have a OG Xbox and a old Madcatz wheel, and this game is amazing.
