Good video! I found this thing difficult to fly and unforgiving of mistakes, but I'm a heli guy so maybe that was from my lack of airplane skills. I broke the clever/cool/fun rotor starter in a crash and found that it's not necessary, even on a windless day (and removing it reduces weight and complexity). Just running with the model at about 45 degrees got the rotor to spin up. (Just remember to get the model horizontal again before throwing it!)

Nice landing

Ha, so this is just like a real autogyro, some of them don't have motors to get the top blades turning, you just have to reach up and spin it with your hand when you start to accelerate for take off and your speed spins it faster and faster until you take to the air... They are fun to fly and said to be some of the safest craft because the blades are always in autorotation. I never knew they made a model of it, I've got to get one! Thanks!

Thanks for a most useful video. I'm just putting mine together sadly though no glue and no collet or second push rod to rudder .

unusual request, but is it possible to know the exact dimensions of the packaging box it comes in ?
@Painless3607 жыл бұрын
The box (and the model now actually!) are long gone. I'd ask the HK support guys. They are usually decent at getting this detail for you.. Best of luck

Excellent & well detailed video :) Glad to see a propper video on this auto gyro :) Would a heli-style of foldable blades work out you think?
@Painless3607 жыл бұрын
+DutchRC Adventures possibly. The blades in the kit are not the same weight and flex as you'd get on a heli. I am thinking of making a foam Sean Connery and missile pods to be more like 'Little Nellie' from the bond films :D
@DutchRC7 жыл бұрын
As a Sean Connery impersonator I like that idea a lot :)

When do you turn off the auto start switch?

+RC REVIEWER as soon as you're in the air..
@EricLaermans5 жыл бұрын
No, before using any throttle. The prerotator creates an off-balance. There are accidents of man-carrying AG’s to be seen on YT of what happens if the pre-rotator is not shut off before take-off.

How does it fly in wind?
@Painless3607 жыл бұрын
In anything but a breeze not great. The tail acts as a sail and there isn't tons of power on the model to pull through headwinds..
@TheDave5705 жыл бұрын
It wobbled because you didn't balance the rotors on the air frame, you balanced them in a different attitude!

Don't leave the craft assembled over long periods, the hanging blades weaken the plastic blade-grips over time and you cant tell until the mid-air catastrophe happens. True story, no video :(
