RC4WD TF2 | Steep Ice Age Rocks | Scale Mountain Crawl & Natural Sound

I've got some fellow tiny truckers (AnT R/C) visiting soon, so I thought I'd scope this place out. It's an amazing spot carved by glaciers in the last ice age, right in the Brecon Beacons (Pen Y Fan - the highest peak in south Wales - and Corn Du are usually visible on the skyline, but kept disappearing in the rain...).
This place is quite lumpy across the bottom (it's glacial moraine), then goes up very steeply to a peak called Fan Frynych. It's steeper than it looks here, really, and super slippery - but the TF2 did brilliantly once again. It made the entire ascent on one 2,200mAh 3S pack as well, hitting cutout right in front of the gate at the top.
Sorry about the rain on the lens, it was blowing around pretty enthusiastically! I thought I'd leave this with the natural soundtrack, too - I quite like hearing the truck scrabbling and struggling its way through.
Maybe I'll take Andrew and Terry here if the weather's decent... don't want them blowing off the mountain...

I can't quite believe how well they do, to be honest. I only got them because I wanted some wheels and the same wheels with tyres cost hardly any more! Thought they'd be good as spares or for the foams. For knock-off eBay specials they're doing spectacularly well. 😁

Great mudddy & steep trail. The TF2 really earned it's keep there. Nice to learn a bit of geography while I was here too!

It really did! Plus I managed not to roll it off the side into the abyss, which is always good... 🤣 I've tweaked the description a bit now as I've realised that Pen Y Fan isn't visible in any of these shots (d'oh) - those ones are all in a separate vid! I'll put that one up later. But it's an awesome spot anyway - turns out there are rare arctic plants growing on the big black cliff wall that have been there since the glaciers melted. They wouldn't normally survive, but that huge cliff gets so little light (it faces north) they're still there. 💪

Brilliant performance by the TF2. Who says leaf springs are a disadvantage ! It looked very very scale too. Big thumbs up from the south coast 😀👍👍

Right? Leaf springs for the win! Though to be honest, this was much steeper than it looks on film and I was frankly surprised what it went up. Such a fun drive. Hope you've been enjoying yours lately too! 😁👍

Great video, Steve! Man, that TF2 seems to get more grip from wet and muddy tyres than it has any right to! Pretty impressive stuff on that terrain. A little bit of wheel-speed makes a difference when needed. That location in the Beacons is lush - looking forward to more footage from this place. All the best, mate! :O)

I can only agree... these tyres were so cheap! I was buying wheels from China and the same things with tyres on were something like £8 more, so I got those. Figured they'd at least be good as spares or for their foams, but didn't think they'd actually WORK. 🤣 Then they drag the TF2 up a cold, wet, muddy rockface that must have been at least 35 degrees... amazing, really! And great fun. 😁 You're right about wheelspeed too, though in a lot of places I didn't dare use second gear (which really helps traction) because if it went wrong it'd go wrong fast, and it really was a long, steep drop...

Thanks! They're just the standard kit shocks - I think they were 70mm in the back, 80mm in the front? Can't quite remember. But stock, anyway. 👍
