I have a Pioneer DEH-P9400mp sitting on a shelf just itching to be used again. Love Pioneer HU's. last single DIN I used was the Kenwood XX0-01d, sold it and now run a Kenwood Double DIN DDX719 in my 2001 Camaro SS. Keep up the Great videos !!!!!!!!!!

Nice oscilloscope Wiz! I installed this unit in a friend of mines Olds Bravada back in '04. He had gotten it for free from his little brother and neither of us knew anything about it. I was shocked with how good it sounded. No amplifiers used either, only the internal amplification. Nice sounding deck for sure.

That’s a beauty. Miss mine, it was a beast. I ended up getting an error message, it happened when it was hot, and the cd player was going. My settings was set for the volume was around 55, and with a few changes it would be around 40. With max at 40 45, the sound was so clean, my tweeters would be almost piercing my ears, and the lows would be like there was weights as speakers.

Love seeing more frequent videos and it would be awesome to see some head units on the amp dyno especially some of the older black model RF headunits and some of the old alpines that had some big time fusing on them

I had this radio pretty much all my radio have been Pioneer because of how clean the sound and the equalizer and crossover

im using a premier 860 in my truck, has 6.5v preouts and has the ability to be wired active to speakers, i like it but not as updated as all this new stuff

I still like Pioneer and have one in my car. But I would still choose Alpine at the other day. I do remember these models and didn’t think they were that great at the time.

I would enjoy watching you check head units as much as amps. I loved Alpine HU's back in the day and still regret getting rid of my 8 crystal. After I got my first Premier though... I could never go back. Functionality is way better for me and the difference in distortion is so minimal, I doubt I could hear the difference between them.

My husband used a head unit that had the subwoofer feature and he told me he bridge it using 2 different techniques -\× and ×/× and he said ×/× is pure bass

I bought this model head unit from a guy needing money and got it for $20 back in 2008. i used it for a bit then kept it in storage, buddy of mine needed a stereo so i sold it to him for $20. This guy threw it away because he thought it was broken, ended up being his wires

I've owned 3 Pioneer head units and loved all of them. First one was used and I paid more than I should have but the second and third were a bargain. I currently have the AVH X5500 BHS and it has a clean signal at 39/40 volume. It's feeding the signal to an RF P45 25 to life (looks just like the 150 in this video) powering 4 RF power series 6.5" coaxial 2 way speakers and it sounds great for the money. It's loud enough to keep up with my sub stage that's capable of 140+ db on music while still sounding clean. I think Pioneer is a good starting point for a head unit. My old one sounded awesome on the 4 Focal speakers it was powering when I gave it away.

would love to see some HU amp dyno runs! Especially some of the stock stereo's for us poor folk that just want to add some very basic speaker upgrades + sound deadening.

The rear might be good for a 8 inch or 10 inch Kicker comp single coil... no where near enough for me but some people can tolerate one little sub.

Any chance you can test some 2000 Panasonic headunits like the cqc7401u. I know Alma Gates used a Panasonic and always wondered what max unclipped volume it was able to run.

I’m interested in finding out the THD of my Skar RP-600.5 amplifier or other amplifiers when they are bridged or not bridged. 4 ohm 2ohm and 4 ohm bridged (@ 1khz) for mids/highs. Obviously it’s not as big of a deal with a subwoofer amp or a more expensive amp that actually list the distortion at lower impedances or bridged. Most amps including my scar amplifier only list THD for four ohms unabridged. I’m thinking about buying one of these distortion meters off of eBay one of the Chinese ones for $150 but I am concerned how accurate it is. Might be a good video idea for your channel I would enjoy seeing that. I have OCD and I’m concerned about distortion but I really don’t want to fork out a bunch of money or a more expensive amplifier before I test my scar amplifier (I’m using it bridged)

Great video! I have this unit and I don't want to sell it, still a great unit. I am going to add a Bluetooth dongle to the ip-bus to make it more a "modern" old schooler, my issue is and I am truly hoping someone here can help - I can't find a harness for the unit. Can someone please tell me what the pin-outs are or at least where I can find that information and I will make my own, I've tried googling it but I'm seeing contradicting information. DEH-p740mp will make a great work-bench setup IMO.

This shit don't work. Can you please post a video of how to check RCA using only a DDM starting with where to hook it up. Everytime I've tried I get bullshit readings of less than 1v like 0.466v A/C please help me figure out how to do this it is genuinely pissing me off

All pioneer/premier head units are able to run a subwoofer. In 3 channel mode. Every one iv ever had anyway.
