I have completely waded up my Apprentice 15e. I mean I’ve abused this plane. Ripped both wings in half, snapped the tail boom in half, tore the landing gear/battery compartment out and each time I have glued it back together with Foam-Tac and it’s good as new. I wish I could send you all the pics and videos of the destruction. I have many planes, but this thing is my favorite and it’s a beater, just have fun plane. Without the Foam-Tac glue it would have been in the garbage the first day 😂 Love your videos man 😎👍

@@RCINFORMER I got the FoamTac... AMAZING!!!! crazy amazing! I have repaired two tails so far. Arrows Husky! Eflight UMX turbo timber! both had the tail broken at the hinges! Followed your steps with foam-tac. Fully functional now and confident they will be flight worthy! also fixed a pair of pontoons! way better than CA, which turns brittle and runs all over before it dries!

I use the Beacon Foam-Tac which is great stuff. Will look for the Foam Finishing Compound and the Hobby Coat.

Thanks for the lead...over 5 years later!! I bought a bottle on your advice and it showed up right before my new T-28 Trojan thankfully. Right out of the box, the huge flap control surfaces were already cracking through the hinge point. I have heard mentioned that some planes had been destroyed in flight due to control surface separation. I coated all my hinge points so I should be good to go. Why isn't this stuff more widely available online and in stores?! It's not cheap but it's sure valuable and easy to use!

Looks great for gouges and hangar rash. Although with that significant damage to the tail section you might as well order a whole new rudder assembly. Thanks for all the tips.

The rudder was a clean break, even the hinge broke clean.... the leading edge foam block that i added was easy to fix and quicker than ordering parts.

I fond that foam brushes work best for applying the Hobby Coat. A regular does not work well and my air brush clogged too soon. Foam brushes work well and some trial and error, mostly error :)

I HAD THE GAS ENGINES CONSTRUCTION KNOWLEDGE WHAN I START OVER 5y AGO BUT NOT THE FLYING SKILLS.I START WITH 2 EPO W/BIRDS AND THEN MOVE TO 30cc 35cc and 60-65cc ARF.MY POINT IS WHEN I HAD ROUGH LANDINGS/CRACKS /ETC, THOSE PRODUCTS MAKE MY FOAM W/BIRDS LOOK BETTER AND FLY LIKE NOTHING HAPPEND!EVERY SINGLE RC GUY RECOMEND THOSE TO ME ,AND I DO THE SAME.SAVES YOU MONEY/TIME IF YOU USE THEM PROPERLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Low adhesion painters blue tape works excellent for foam repair or to damn parts when using fillers ...hardly ever removes painted finishes...just lightly press in place !

The Foam-Tac Glue is great stuff but I haven't had much luck with the Foam Finish as it tends to catch in the sandpaper and peel off the foam...especially near the edges where it was applied....seems to be too soft.

Will the Foam Finish stand up to water after it dries? I am using it on my HK Skipper. I know it says it can be cleaned up with water.

what kind of paint do you use on EPO styrofoam?? thanks for the info
@RCINFORMER4 жыл бұрын
Styrofoam is different from EPO foam. What ever you use, test it first to be sure it does not dissolve the foam. I use many latex wall paints from lowes and have the paint matched at the store with a painted part from the plane. I use some spray cans from lowes & home depot. Acrylic and laytex works with just about any foam like epo.....enamal and lacquer paints will tend to melt eps foam.

Daumen runter!
