Nice job on building that. You have a good eye for getting everything balanced and placed right. I used to create some of this kind of stuff in my earlier life and I know that things like this boat are pretty hard to get just right. It looks like you got things right on your first try. This thing corners so smoothly. It is so stable that you don't even put the lid on!

Well done. Neat project. My dad had a jet boat from the time I was about 10. 19’ 1973 Carlson Glastron CV-19 455 Oldsmobile engine. He replaced the pump with another Berkeley pump don’t recall the mode numbers but it came from a drag boat that burned down. The pump on he outside or the transom was longer and a little lower and the pitch was adjustable. That gave us between 15-20mph from the more efficient pump and getting more of the boat out of the water. So from like 52-55mph to about 70-75mph. Then the engine was rebuilt with 10:1 forged dishes pistons and a large Crowler cam and the better of the iron head factory castings and it made great power and that got us to around 90. That engine lasted about 3 seasons of super hard running. Lots of people raced then at Indian Lake Ohio. But even with a much lesser engine it still goes 70s because of that excellent pump.

Three words: *_Helical Shaft Couplers_* You're welcome.
@bradleyland
@bradleyland 4 жыл бұрын
^^ This. Coupling two shafts perfectly coaxially is mega hard. You would have needed to couple the motor and drive unit outside the boat on a very well made set of mounting rails (that include fine adjustments), then glue the entire mounting system in as a single unit. That's why no one bothers doing it! You just use a non-ridged coupler that accommodates non-coaxial rotation.

Great effort to build and then tearing apart so you can rebuild. The model you crested it's a great one. In stead to cut it off you could make a mold from the boat and then make it from carbon fibre so you can enjoy the fruit of your labour selling the hull to people how appreciate your boat design , like I do.

Just so you know you do have what you need to make a centered coupler. All you have to do is put that coupler in the drill chuck. mount a drill bit in a vice and turn the part rather than the drill bit. Effectively turning you drill press into a hack rod lathe. Only thing is your limited to the size of your Chuck on your drill press as to how large a part you can drill.

Idk if you read these or not ...... but i have a project idea for you .... That little buggy you pull around......I've seen you fight with that thing often. I think you should put a motor on that thing. high torque, low speed...a slow walking pace. Put a free wheel sprocket on it like a bicycle (amazon 12$) and the right gear ratio would keep it slow and controllable without the need for a variable throttle, but would still have tons of power to the wheels. A simple push button a Continuous Duty Solenoid Relay, so you don't burn the coil. (amazon 14$) Just for times when you are dragging it across the sand or something. The free wheel would allow you to still pull with your eboard at higher speeds.

@@anto_1446 yea sure but it would be limited to the length of the cable unfortunately. I think he should try the ultrasonic communications instead. It could probably be done with two arduinos, two ultrasonic transducers and maybe some amplifier module. Wouldn't it be awesome if he could receive some sort of image in real time from the submarine as he controls it and because it's controlled by an arduino it could just be programmed to resurface if the signal is lost.
