Watch their day unfold as they prepare to drive Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s 2000 No. 3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet during the pace laps of the NASCAR Cup Series race. Seeing that black number #3 car going around the track on the pace laps going 200 mph is truly awesome, what’s interesting is the fact that Richard Childress put in a different gear, so it did bump the chip a little bit but cleaned up nicely, but what a great video!! that’s a nice way to remember one of the greatest drivers of all time Rest In Peace to the Intimidator, truly a special experience, indeed!! 😎😎

I cry twice every time I watch this video. First, when he hammers down and lets it run hard, and then, when he says “can you imagine what Dale was thinking” and has to suddenly stop talking bc of the emotions coming forth. Every damn time, those two moments break me down, in the best and worst ways. I’m so happy for RC that he did this. Connected with his lost friend out there where they both felt at home.

As an "Old School Fan" my father introduced me to racing ,in 1976 at Talladega. Got to see many greats thru the years, such as Dale, David Pearson,Neil Bonnet,Petty, and on and on. Even Marty Robbins! I followed the sport with the same excitement and enthusiasm as Alabama football! The loss of Davey,Clifford, Neil and others chipped away at my desire of the sport. And then the day Dale left us,Cup racing gradually ended for me. Oh how i long for those kinds of days again! Thank you RCR for this, and all of your employees and friends for making so many memories for for me and many others! ⚡God Speed⚡

All you young kids that never saw NASCAR (real Nascar) racing from the 70's / 80's / 90's missed the best form of true stock car racing EVER. Bodies that fit the templates, 5 lug nuts per wheel, a real gear box with a shifter, and a carburetor ... and guys with a set of stones driving them. Real racers who actually knew how to work on their own stuff, and had real personalities. God how I miss those days.

I get goosebumps watching this. I can only imagine how good that felt to take that car for a spin. I love RCR and the people you surround yourself with is completely amazing. Johnny was having a grand ole time. Thanks so much for sharing.

I was speechless the whole time......that was perfect. They just need to take to every race track for a season and run parade laps prior to the race.

No matter how many times that I've watched this, I get chills and teary eyed every time. Dale Sr won at Talladega ten times which is more than any other NASCAR driver. Dale Jr is 2nd to his dad at Talladega with six wins.

Goosebumps! I don't know a whole lot about NASCAR but it is heartwarming to see these two enjoying Sr.'s car at Talladega.

Can’t put it in words how special that was. Richard, you are special to nascar and very special to me and my family. God bless you! Dale was looking down grinning from ear to ear mumbling about you weren’t going fast enough!
