Re building HYDRAULIC CYLINDER on my EXCAVATOR

Taking the time to rebuild both of my hydraulic cylinders to my excavator. I take the time to apply new cylinder seals. We are also in the middle of mud season, see how I fix our roads with my tractor.

Mark if your washing your truck and it freezes you could use Vaseline or Vicks vapor rub on the door seals , this prevent the door seals from freezing solid and stops you getting in.

Give a machine some loving attention and it will give it back to you. Seems like you had a nice family day maintaining the Cat 308. I've always enjoyed company when I'm working on something. It helps keep the stress at an appropriate level when repairs become stubborn.

Mark, to bad when you built the barn, that you didn't place an *I-beam* in the rafters. This way you could've placed an hook, so as to put a 'chainfall' to lift any heavy items up for repairs etc. keep the great videos coming!

Have you thought about adding culverts to the road? Some of the logging roads in this state used wooden culverts build out of 2 inch stock. Is there any room on the right of way to put ditches on the upper side to help drain the water? Mud season is always fun in cold climates.

It’s a county road. If we alter any part of the road we can get in a lot of trouble. We have been to many many many town meetings to help with some negotiations to make the road better. But in our small town it’s the last priority on their list. We have great relationship with some of the road guys in the city so we just give them a heads up on what we do if we have to fix something. We have 3 mile road and only 3 families living here. It would cost us a lot of money to get it to the right thickness and place culverts in many locations for 3 mile road.

Great video, the next time you service the hydraulics switch over to amsoil it will greatly reduce the operating temperature, the only drawback is the cost.

All of the residence of your canyon, purchase the cheapest(fix it up) road grader, for your canyon road. Just a thought and suggestion.

Heath from Red Poppy has said a road grader wouldn’t be able to make the turns in a couple places.

I remember hearing about a survey done years ago (must have been at a Christian college or something) and they asked, other than the Bible, which was the most impactful book that you've read? The answer was - what you are listening to - Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. So... of course, I had to read the book.... and, yeah, the story of John Gault really does have an impact, doesn't it? and the incredible success of that American Motors Company or whatever - those kids REALLY knew what they were doing, didn't they... lol.

you need to get some advice on that mud road... has to be a way to divert water off portions on that road... Make several Large French drains right across road in different locatons where water is building up... use bone rock (large sized rocks) as a base and use smaller as you fill up!... we do this in logging mud country up on Vancouver Island and MANY PLACES ON WEST COAST OF BRITISH COLUMBIA FROM OCEAN TO TOPS OF MOUNTAINS HERE....

I agree the road situation is ridiculous. Unfortunately it’s not as easy as fixing it themselves. They’ve said before the road is zoned for seasonal use so the county(?) doesn’t maintain it for winter and early spring use. But because it’s a county road residents can’t make alterations to the road. The best they can do is band aid like they’ve been doing and try to get enough people to make some change with the county.

Marc, I just found you a really nice adjustable (4” - 12”) hook spanner wrench (you know where online lol) for tree hunnit and ate ninety nine 😂 ***If I spell certain things correctly I get spanked for violating the community standards rules things 🙄😁
